Kitchandro Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 paul lambert didn't have much experience when he joined norwich.....but they won league 1 with ease and finished ru in the championship and are now going well in the prem, experience don't mean shit.......look at sven he as more experience than anybody it just needs the right man to do the job Yes but christ, you aren't getting it. We aren't in a position to take risks on young managers. That's for clubs with little other options, like Norwich when they appointed Lambert, or us when we appointed O'Neill (who had, incidentally, won 2 successive promotions with Wycombe already). As it happens, Clark has done nothing. He may well succeed, but there's not much ebidence to suggest he would. It's a very risky appoiuntment and I'd fancy we'd have a better chance of going up with Davies, Hughes or Di Matteo.
tylesta Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 So what does he do? As opposed to the manager? gives lee clark hanky panky after every win

renards Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 So what does he do? As opposed to the manager? Promotes the King Power brand
Petchy Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Keegan was supposedly at the game today too, so looks like this is going to happen. Oh christ.
Langston Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 So what does he do? As opposed to the manager? "In this case, the director of football may be sought by a board – or even manager – in order to provide advice or technical assistance on footballing or other aspects that are perceived as lacking or desired by the club. This may be the case where the manager is inexperienced or perceived as naive in a particular aspect, allowing the director to advise against potentially costly errors." OR "They act as a buffer between manager and board. The director of football is answerable to the board but there to assist the manager. He's experienced in football and there to help the board members who don't have that experience." There are many cases of the DOF buying players for the manager (mainly on the continent), merely stating it's not always their job. If he did arrive in that capacity anyway, I doubt Keegan would go under Clark's nose considering how he was shafted by Dennis Wise - who had the same role at Newcastle during his tenure. He could assist Clark with scouting, training, various aspects of running a club. Considering Clark has zero experience at this level, I fail to see why so many are against Keegan's appointment as a 'mentor,' almost.
cc_star Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Keegan was supposedly at the game today too, so looks like this is going to happen. Oh christ. He's been in an ESPN studio since what would be half time so it's unlikely
lcfclee1978 Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 if true i'm happy with the appoitment not sure about keegan but even he has a good track record with newcastle, man city and fulham who he got all 3 promoted. as for clark he seems like a players manager a tracksuit manager like little, o'neill and pearson somebody with real passion which is what we are crying out for! i accept he's young and not experienced at this level but keegan is and clark has a great record and needs to be given a chance in my opinion. i agree he has alot to prove if he comes but that's not a bad thing i think he'll relish his big chance.
dylanlegend Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Bad appointment if true but if he brings Jordan Rhodes with him then best appointment ever

Wenger was managing in a tinpot japanese league, fergie was managing in the scottish league before taking over the worlds largest club closer to home Brian Little & O'Neill 2 of our most successful managers hadn't managed at this level before taking us forward. you can either manage or you can't Realistically all a Dof does is interfere with manager's way of doing things until he gets the sack, with people clamouring for the DoF himself to be given the job before getting sacked himself Any appointment is risky & this is just about the riskiest of the lot, although not high up my list I'd rather Clark have got the job himself than have some big ego overshadowing him

Well, mention of Dennis Wise hardly inspires confidence in the role. And I wonder if, in advising against potentially costly errors, Keegan talks himself out of a job! But who cares. We need someone in charge before the end of the season, if only to prepare in time for the next one!

Guest Col city fan Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Paying someone for doing feck all. Great move. Okay, I'm going to try and be positive. KK coming in will offset the lack of experience that Lee Clark brings. He should have numerous contacts in the game that will be of use to LC. I'm hoping for a good cop / bad cop routine with LC bringing some much needed discipline. I tried. Bugger that paddy.. I love Keegan, I bloody love him! To think that he could be at city, I reckon is fab, as long he brings Tara with him to watch the games... Nom Nom
flanimal Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 It won't be Clark or Keegan. O'Neill is going to be manager.

dylanlegend Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 At this current moment in time... We need a manager with experience... Maybe some managers who didn't have experience have done well at other clubs... But most managers with no experience taking a top job fail miserably!! Our club needs a boss who has been there done that.. We need immediate success... Not a manager learning the ropes! This appointment is the most important in the history of LCFC! If we choose the wrong man for the job... It could honestly spell the end of our football club... Let's not do a Portsmouth.. Get someone in with experience and reduce the risk of us appointing a one hit wonder!

EnderbyFox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 I'll only accept this decision if Both Keegan and Clarke take up Keegan's old hairstyle. I'm hoping the result will look somewhat like this;
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Im not too bothered about the fact Hudders are still in league one. Keegan's experience along with Lee Clark's enthusiasm and determination could be a recipe for success. Im willing to give it a go. Anything for STABILITY
AjcW Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 To be honest I have wanted Lee Clarke on the last three occasions we have needed to appoint someone so I would love this, minus the keegan part of the equation. I like Clarke's style of football, and I like him as a person, was always great at newcastle, and obviously with my ties to newcastle I love the sound of this appointment. Its like a lot of things with this club that are wrong, we always ignore the leagues below! The last few seasons we could of easily signed talented league one players like Rhodes, Pilkington, Lambert when he was down there and lallana and many many more.... just look at who arguably our best player is this season.. Peltier!(nurtured by Clarke I might add! As was pilkington who is holding his own in the prem, and rhodes who is on form in league 1)
