But are any of these better than Sven - not one manager mentioned on here other than the obvious is a better bet and so it has to be said that Top has lost his mind (if he ever had one)

Maybe Dowie, Clark and Jones aren't better bets.

Freedman is too inexperienced but not necessarily worse.

Davies and Hughes would be better IMO.

People say stuff about him, but I'm not sure he's that bad. He does seem like he's not very smart though.

Dowie has an engineering degree (if its him you think is thick) Freedman might be thick but O neill isn't - Sven could speak two languages (probably 3 with Italian) so he wasn't thick - therefore Dowie is the logical choice because he is intelligent - probably

I'm not saying Dowie is thick, but it seems like a lot of people regard him as a bit clueless.

Is Dowie as bad as people say?

No, I don't think so - and this is just my personal opinion. He did OK for us, got us into the Premier League, and we only went down on the very last day of the season, having done a reasonable job given we're not a rich club with a big stadium.

His cardinal sin from our point of view was leaving us to manage Charlton. They're not exactly our best pals - I suppose its like your manager leaving to join Derby?

You could do a lot worse.

He is a top bloke and I think would do something with the team and funds, but im sure we would all rather have MON or Davies

He was never going to keep Hull up, Charlton were on the way down prior to him going there. Coventry are just a shambles- not sure Mourinho would do better than mid-table there, and he was doing a decent job at QPR before being sacked when they were 9th in the table at the same stage as we are now. i'm not saying i'd be delighted if it was him - and don't think for a moment it will be - but he's not as shambolic as Keane or Strachan would be.

Well I hope you get somebody good, be it Ian Dowie or any of the other people mentioned. My eldest went to your Uni and had a great three years in Leicester (although she did go to watch the Tigers rather than the Foxes) so I do wish you well.

I hope Neil Danns does well for you too - he was our best player for a long time and he deserved to go to a team which should be pushing for promotion (which I hope we won't be as we are not equipped to survive in the Premier League)

But as I've said - you can afford somebody at the top of the game, and we'd really really like to keep the Doog.

(If he goes to you just for the money then I suppose he wouldn't be committed to us anyway. I'm really hoping that's not the case)

All the best

(to the poster who said Selhurst is dirty - yes, indeed it is. You just wait till we revamp the Crystal Palace stadium - you'll be pleased to visit  )

as much i would love o'neil to come back i have to say i would love freedman in charge. Hes a good young manager who could spend his career with us. Plus he will play the amazing tunchev ;). Not going to lie though i would sooner have Billy Davies over him.

Ridiculous.

Sven wasnt the man for me...............but come on Neville this is outrageous to not have an inkling of who to bring in.

Crystal Palace HAVE to appoint people like Dougie Freedman because they have no choice. And luckily enough for them, things have worked out SO FAR and they can probably achieve a safe mid table/avoid relegation finish thats the best they can hope for.

What happened to this championship experience/big name notion? we need people who can spend cash wisely, not someone who works with £0! we need someone to manage big ego's, big expectations and big ambition. And were going to put this in the hands of a bloke who had a few games last season and 13 so far this?

This is beginning to smack of desperation.

After the last couple of years we've had you can't believe how good mid-table sounds! We were all a bit doubtful about the Doog when he was appointed, but he's a Palace legend and so far he's done just fine. Only 17 more points and we'll be safe (and its only October!)

we'll lose Wilf in January, and maybe Sean too but we should get to May without that horrible "are we going to go down" feeling.

You should be pushing for promotion - you have the players, the stadium and the cash and good luck to you. You should also have a Premier League manager, which for all his success with us the Doog isn't yet. I think MON is a great manager and I hope you get him, although I believe he's turned you down?

For me, if it`s not to be MON, then it has to be Billy Davies. As for Freedman, far too early to say how good a manager he is going to turn out to be.

For any PalARSE fans reading this, if we really wanted Freedmam, believe me, we would make him an offer he couldn`t refuse, but i would be amazed if he`s even been thought about our end.

Only one bookie taking this seriously - he's 12/1 with Skybet. I don't suppose the owners have shares in any UK bookies? I've never so many entries on a bookies list for a potential manager of England let alone a club. Ridiculous.

this has surely got to be a joke guy's done a moderate job for what 9 months? who the **** next, the crawley manager?

I've just noticed some Palace fan has been on here being abusive.

Unbelievable that somebody from South London, which is basically a ghetto, could have that audacity.

For his/her attention, i'm digging out my comment about the Millwall fans. It still applies, they're all cvnts down there:

All of their supporters are beef-headed, loudmouthed, Cockney conmen who appear on Rogue Traders for turning up at an old lady's house, changing a fuse and charging £800 - pissing in their kitchen sink for the privilege.

And they say "facking cant" in every sentence.

And they call into TalkSport and talk shite.

And they all think Danny Dyer is cool.

And they all live in 2 bed ex-council flats that are worth £300,000 because they're on a London bus route.

And they think that anybody who doesn't live in London or South of it is a coal miner who loves in a slum.

Hi,

I'm one of the supposed gypo retards for SARF LONDON .... although having spent a few minutes reading this thread that quite a positive compared to some of your posters!! and for the record I am neither a gypo or retard, never been in prison and have a very good job thank you !!!

Lets put this in perspective shall we ... firstly I personally hope you do get MON back some managers just belong at a club and I think he does at Leicester although to be honest I'm not sure he will return to a after Celtic and Villa not sure his ego will allow but he is an excellent manager and just seems to me he is not rushing back with open arms .... to be honest if he is not 100% certain you will be better looking elsewhere. I hear that Gus Poyet is looking to leave ;-)

I have a couple of points / questions before I go ... when did Leicester become a big club? As far as I can remember you have always been one of the genuine clubs with genuine supporters .... like Palace you have had good times and bad. What really bothers me is that now you have an owner with money some of the less intelligent of you feel you have a god given right to success ... it may happen but it may come at a terrible price ..............the soul of your club is being destroyed .... just look at Chelsea ok maybe a poor mans Chelsea but you see what I mean.

And how can some of you criticize our squad .... most of football is falling over themselves at the quality of young players coming through our academy ...... or do you (now you’re a big super rich club) just judge a good squad by the price paid rather than ability ??

I realise that there are many rational, sensible Leicester fans some even come on our BB

As far as this SSN rumor goes any sensible person knows its crap ..... although if its true I would be more worried about the people running your club and their foot ball knowledge Dougie is new to management and is doing a terrific job so far at building the right infrastructure and stable platform .... only time will tell if he will be good enough but so far he is doing an excellent job. What worries me about how your club is being run is that there is no stability its big money = instant success syndrome if a new manager come in and does not get promotion does he get sacked and the next manager wheeled thro the door?

Ok I’m off so you can start the abuse again and thank you … it been a real privilege and honor to post on the BB of a big club ………………… I would suggest a big club is measured by success in the past 10 years … looks like your just a ‘tin pot’ (to quote one of your intelligent poster) like us.

Born Blue, it you've read my posts ( and you couldn't be more pro-Palace than me) you'll see I've said nothing but nice things about Leicester. Most of us have no grind whatever with you, except we'd rather you didn't take the manager who has been doing rather well for us.

You clearly don't know anything about South London if you confuse Palace and Millwall. We're not friends with them.
