21st Century Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Last month's sacking of Sven-Goran Eriksson won't stop Leicester's wealthy Thai owners stepping up their chase for Jelavic as a gift for new boss Nigel Pearson. I'm sorry what!?
The Doctor Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 a gift? Are they going to wrap him in ribbon and put him in a box for Nige to open christmas morn?
dannythefox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Great player don't think he would come here.
Finnegan Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 A little troubling if true as it'd heavily indicate the board interfering and I think we've got bigger problems than a lack of strikers. With Vassell out we could certainly use some extra cover but I'd be more concerned about the lack of wingers and the fact we've lacked a really creative attacking midfielder since... well... the early noughties.
MikeyT Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Probably just regurgitating old news. Bet there's nothing in it. Must be a slow day for sports news.
Fox92 Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Heskey, Jelavic? Are they just using their old news stories. Ok, I seem to think Jelavic is a good player. I don't watch Scottish football, apart from Celtic v Rangers, but I hear he has scored a lot of goals up there. Fine, fair play, but so did Kris Boyd and now Gary Hooper. But those examples didn't exactly score lots in our division. I haven't read the article either, but if its a reported £7million again, then I'd say no personally.
Ric Flair Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 The papers had trouble getting a leak on who was going to be our manager so I'm not convinced they'd be any wiser on transfer targets either. Especially not a Scottish paper and especially given Pearson's been here less than a week. This will be Jelavic's agent if anything.
Langston Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Ok, I seem to think Jelavic is a good player. Erm, sorry to completely invalidate your point, but in Gary Hooper's last season in the Championship with Scunthorpe, he scored 19 league goals (in 35 league appearances) alone in a pretty woeful side.....

Ok, he did. I know he got a few but I didn't realise he scored that many.
Langston Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Ok, he did. I know he got a few but I didn't realise he scored that many. Scott McDonald hasn't done that badly either since moving down here.
FrankieADZ Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Scott McDonald hasn't done that badly either since moving down here. I think he has...he couldnt hit a barn door at times.
Happy Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=204375&st=20 On their forum they seem to think it is £9m.
crisp packet Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 He is class. End of! Yes he's a target man...... We have noooooooooo chance !!!
Happy Fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 If we are to bid that amount in January I dare to think how much money we will spend, NP must be having sweet dreams, anyway priority is too get wingers, and if we get Jelavic as well that will certainly be good.
crisp packet Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 I feel we need one /two wingers and a target man, no one holds the ball up!!!
foxfanazer Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 Owners shouldn't be buying the manager a player as a gift. Gotta be NP's choice who he signs
StanSP Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 But he isn't Scottish... Neither was Mark De Vries and look how he turned out
Lambert09 Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 He came out and said he had no intention of moving to us....not going to happen....we were in a better situation when we first tried to nab him
noobfc Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 people always bring up Kris boyd. boyd was a poacher he did nothing else in the spl he played for rangers who d create lots of chances and always gave it to him to score. he then dident get these chances in england we never played boyd in big games Jelavic on the other hand is on another level to boyd hes the complete striker. Hes a top 10 epl striker all day long he would get your team into the epl if you signed him he has that much quality. his record in europa league says it all. for rapid viena hehas like 12 goals in 12 games! rangers failed badly in europe so we got nowhere tho he still scored a cracker.
Fox 4 Life Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 He already said he "wouldn't join a club like Leicester" and rangers want over 9m. This isn't happening!
Narborough_fox Posted 22 November 2011 Posted 22 November 2011 As my Uncle said. The most technically gifted player to play in the SPL at the minute and one of the best ever at Rangers. I would LOVE it if this happened, just regurgitating old news though so I'm not getting my hopes up.
