How you getting on with the Desire HD?

Quality Phone pal.

Love the freedom you get with these phones as oppose to my old iPhone. Only niggle is that the market lacks the number of apps the Apple app store has to offer, but it can only get bigger

I love NYE. But, in my opinion, if you're in town for New Years you're doing it wrong.

It's all about the house parties.

Christmas Eve is a much better night out for town, I think.

I wouldn't say strongbow is over-rated. It's popular at my SU aswell, because it's cheaper then most drinks you can buy in pints and fairly high percentage for a pint (5.3%). I always buy it when I don't want to fork out for Magners (which is much nicer).

Almost everyone agrees that it tastes like piss though, though I don't find it too bad. Much nicer then beer!

Have to be more specific with beer: Possibly nicer than a fair few lagers, but doesn't get anywhere near most ales.

And if anyone actually likes Strongbow and doesn't just drink it because it's cheap then it's over-rated.

Oh and on the subject of alcohol:

Ok but nothing really special.

Thats got to be THE most over-rated drink of all time. Mackeson and Marstons Oyster Stout are cheaper and better than that filth...

Al - a good pint of Guiness is sumptuous. The stuff you get across the water is filth. Never had a good pint of the black stuff abroad.

Anything served in SU tastes like pish. Justifying it as overrated on that basis is wrong, as all pints taste like pissy water at every SU up and down the country. Bulmers and Magners and every twat with ice in their pint make me laugh, and the trend of doing so is over-rated.

The ice in a pint started in Ireland as most pubs didn't/don't serve cider on draught and the only way of serving up the canned cider cold.....was drumroll.....over ice.

Might be why I don't understand the like for it, never been to Ireland. I don't see why such a short trip would cause the pint to become utter rubbish though.

Oh and a proper beer/cider should be served cool, not cold as they are.

If you like stout, you'll probably like Guinness.

I don't like stout.

It's interesting to think back a few years ago when every other pub was Irish themed and there used to be a few mainstream Irish beers on tap - Kilkenny, Caffreys, Harp Irish Lager!

I used to drink Caffreys a lot.

A good rule of thumb is that if you go into a pub and no one or very few people are drinking guinness, then you don't ask for a pint. The lines will be full of skanky guinness. I don't understand why it doesn't travel well but it doesn't.

Isn't it brewed over here under license? Hence the difference in quality.

They closed the London brewery a few years ago. I think it's all brewed in Ireland now.
