Well, I have sent an email to the F.A, and they have emailed be back saying...

we have contacted Nottingham Forest football club, and asked for their observations, and their intentions dealing with the issue (The video posted), and for any steps the club intends to take to prevent such chanting at future matches...

What would you all make of that?

Forest fans think we spat on them and threw lit cigarettes at the kids and parents if this is true what does that say about us?

i've stayed clear of posting in this thread up to now as i saw both evil sides of the coin on saturday. i was in the home end (S Block in Brian Clough lower) with a Forest supporting mate.

Upon exiting the ground we walked down the river trent to a bridge which the cops had stopped the home support accessing the bridge via the stairs as the Leicester fans would be walking past, fair enough i thought dont want both mixing and any trouble.... stupidly they didnt have any actual cops on the bridge and a whole bunch of City fans including young chavvy lads, old boys and teenage girls came to the edge of the bridge giving it the big 'un. as more went past Forest fans hurled abuse back, bit of banter, no problem! but then the Leicester collection on the bridge swelled to over 100 and coins, bottles and spit came raining down on us.

There was no real reason for this happening as it started off as banter but as more collected on the bridge it got worse and more intense. Absolute embarrasment to say i was a Leicester fan, i made myself known to a few of the Forest fans as a Leicester fan and they really couldn't care less which was nice to see, could have given me a kicking if they wanted but no ill feeling from them.

both as bad as each other really then arent we

Fair enough for contacting the FA but nothing will be done. The chants/abuse will have to be stronger and more widespread, or for somebody high up at the club to complain for anybody to do anything.

We too walked this same way escorted by a few Cops.

I only witnessed the banter between the two sets of fans,so must have missed the spitting etc.

Goes without saying that there really is no need for that at all.

Its a shame.

As we went onto the main road and onto the train station we were with a big group of fans all of which seemed goiod humoured and one group of young lads kept mooning to any car which had girls in.(luckily they only did it to girls of a certain age and not TOO young!)

Luckily even that was good natured and no one got out to cause any trouble!

Thats how it should be....all good natured fun..

Both seems to have problems. Forest seem to have shitloads of young racists, we seem to have shitloads of young violent chavs that hurl abuse and spit at people.

Good times ahead. :(

You're just happy whenever there's young lads getting their arses out.

Heard Diane Abbott is a Leicester fan

Oh God, I hope not, the racist bitch. She is as bad as those ignorant Forest scum mentioned above.

Sadly, it does extend both ways, anti black/white. All of it is bloody appauling, and I am pleased to see action is being taken within the game to eradicate this injustice. Let us all hope that it is dealt with stringently.

We must have walked past about the same time, as I went over Forest fans were shouting stuff from below, one guy with his kids going mental, but people hadn't started to gather on the bridge.

Slightly different between the two things though, 10 or so people on the bridge as opposed to the whole of A or B block singing racist songs. Still, id be the first to congratulate the police for catching people from either incident.

They'll do nothing about it. Unless it was 1 fan shouting it directly to 1 person (The Liverpool game)

Unless it's Rangers, you can sing as many racist chants as you like, as long as you're a crowd.

Forest and Leeds both carried out these chants! Makes me smile, considering the amount of black players forest have! What do there own players think?! Shit club, shit fans, just shit......

You missed Shit ground out of the equation mate. Honestly their ground is like an old tramp rotting away on a park bench wearing old 1970's rags. Talk about seen better days ! They are a club in terminal decline both on and off the pitch what a dirty shit hole and a very fitting habitat for their inbred fans.

The whole idea behind stopping racism is to prevent discriminating against a defined group of people and tarring them all with a negative stereotype. You are doing just that to fans of Nottingham Forest FC. Ahh the hypocracy.

There's a world of difference though isn't there?

Having a pop at another set of fans, with good reason frankly, is so different from outright racial hatred it's not even worth putting the two in the same breath.

Bad organisation from the cops not sorting out the trouble that was escalating on the bridge. Admittedly both sets of fans are just as bad but whilst I was in with this forest lot I did hear racial slurs such as small town in Baghdad, go back to your golden mile and where's your turbans gone?! Shocked to say it was also sung by a family of 4, a dad with his three young kids one of which was an 11ish year old girl singing these songs. Sickening to see

'Forest fans are racist scum' = banter. Even though it is an (incorrect) offensive sweeping generalisation and is tarring them all with the same brush.

'Black people are thieves' = burn in hell you prejudiced cvnt. Again an (incorrect) sweeping generalisation.

I do not see the difference in the 2 examples. I see both as just as bad. But then everyone on the forum hates me for my opinions so whatever :P

Let's be clear here, it wasn't a tiny minority of Forest fans letting the rest down on Saturday, it wasn't a small few making stupid comments, it was almost their entire singing section singing racist chants. Loud and clear from my seat.

Make all the excuses you want - it was very disappointing.

Both fans were badly behaved at the weekend.

Funny how it's evened itself out over a few days, from for example, the Leicester fan coming out of the woodwork complaininf about Leicester fans spitting etc. Reckon there are many more of these people, who don't go on forums, that witnessed Leicester fans' disgraceful behaviour too.

Both sets of fans had pockets of 'supporters' who behaved badly, fact.

Dont think you can compare the two examples, some Leicester fans were out of order, spitting etc, but a large section of your lot were openly loudly and disgustingly racist, take some ownership

thing is i dont think you will find any leicester fans condoning any of our own fans for things that were maybe done...

I'm probably interpreting it wrong but I always thought the "Used to be English" chant was about us having Thai owners as it's something that's only been sung - AFAIK - since they took over. Maybe some of their 'fans' weren't using it in that context but I'm sure that it's been sung at other grounds where the club has foreign owners. That said, a couple of my mates were in earshot of individuals and groups of fans shouting about p@kis and various other stuff too, so it was definitely going on to various extents throughout the game.

@ nffc1 - Racism's the biggest issue in football at the moment, especially after the Suarez & Terry stories, and it's not just a case of our lot building it up because of the club that was involved, it's because people in authority are sitting up and taking note of it at last instead of burying their heads and it's an ideal time to highlight any instances of it that crop up. Maybe if one or two of the decent fans around the ones chanting racist stuff feel ashamed enough of the idiots they're with, they'll get dealt with properly and we can all move on.
