smudgerfox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Is the 40K a week wage real? Clearly, he's not worth that, but I always thought Abe had a good touch of ability and good stamina. I wish him well and look forward to the Nigel Pearson's revolution. Pearson had to sub him at half time recently because he was tired! The guy flatters to deceive. Yes he's a Japanese international but so is pretty much any pro player born in Japan. Yes he plays neat and tidy football and has an uncanny knack of getting a foot in to win possession but he's brushed off the ball far too easily (see the televised thrashing at Ipswich in the snow), inevitably given his size, and he's no regular match winner.
Len Finsbury Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 http://www.lcfc.com/...2585119,00.html Leicester City have today (Monday) reached a mutual agreement with Yuki Abe for the immediate cancellation of his contract. After 17 months at King Power Stadium, Yuki has expressed a desire to return to Japan to be closer to his family. Yuki said: "My time in England has been a great experience for me and I am very grateful for the support I have received from my team-mates, the staff at the Club and the Leicester City fans. "But the biggest challenge has been the time I have spent away from my young family in Japan and they must be my priority. "Leicester City is a great Club with great supporters and I hope the team, under the manager's guidance, are able to achieve the success that the fans deserve." Yuki became the first Japanese player to wear City blue when he joined the Foxes from Urawa Red Diamonds in August 2010. In total, the 30-year-old midfielder made 59 appearances for Leicester, scoring in a 4-2 win over Ipswich Town on the final day of last season and the only goal in a 1-0 win over Brighton back in September. Everyone at the Football Club would like to thank Yuki for his contribution during his time with Leicester City and wish him and his family well in the future. Well... His little sojourn over here wasn't a complete disaster for him..... .... his English has come on leaps and bounds!
Craig Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I'll always remember him for that throw-in vs West Brom in the cup.
Mack Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 So Abe is home sick. And for those slating Pearson over this and other departures Fernandes wanted out as soon as Sven left and Johnson is too busy with his snout in the trough to bother getting sharp and in the first team. If they dont want to be here or cant be bothered then getting rid is the only sensible option. We need a fit, hungry and motivated squad.
MC Prussian Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Arigato gozaimas, Abe-San! Short spell for us, some very good games. Always thought he had some more potential that was never really unlocked, mainly thanks to his sparse appearances. Will always remember him for his friendliness towards the fans. Cult hero, should've stayed longer. All the best (back in Nihon)!
MC Prussian Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 So we get no fee? Strange "Contract cancelled by mutual consent".
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 So we get no fee? Strange Not really. If he was on 40k per week and it sounds like he wanted to go back home we will save ourselves a few quid from now until the end of the season. I am sure he will already have a club lined up so I doubt if his pay off would have been substantial if anything at all.
GLC Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 "Contract cancelled by mutual consent". I understand that! i was just saying it's strange, because we could have recouped some of the money we spent on him!
MrSpaM Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 One question looms, WTF are we going to do with the 20 ft picture of him pasted on the side of the stadium!
Libertine Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 One question looms, WTF are we going to do with the 20 ft picture of him pasted on the side of the stadium! He's still on my desktop too. Couldn't he have thought of this?
FrankieADZ Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 I dont blame the guy if he wanted to leave, family miles away in Japan and generally feeling alone in another country couldnt have been nice for the guy. I'll miss the guy tho...& never seeing him have a chance to take a free kick either. Good luck Yuki
General Smuts Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Shame. He had lovely hair. Not like that Michael Johnson. The skinheaded ruffian.
cc_star Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 One question looms, WTF are we going to do with the 20 ft picture of him pasted on the side of the stadium! And Bangkok Airport apparently
FrankieADZ Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 One question looms, WTF are we going to do with the 20 ft picture of him pasted on the side of the stadium! easy...stick someone else face on it....simple
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Good luck to Abe, cant be easy moving to a totally different country and not being able to speak the language either. Wasnt amazing all the time but rarely had any stand out poor games, and always worked hard. Wish him well.

Guest Col city fan Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 IF, and I think it's a big IF we were paying Yuki 40 k per week then God only knows who on earth sanctioned this? He was a decent player at best. Nothing more
bluesbrothers Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Inconsistent, but hard working and played a couple of blinders. He was outstanding against Brighton this year and capped it with a goal. All the best, Yuki. がんばって!
Jimmy Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 anyone that puts their family 1st has my respect, good luck Yuki but we must get a defensive midfielder in now
Corky Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Understandable reasons for going, all the best Yuki.
Libertine Dream Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Good player, top guy and understandable reasons for leaving. さようなら雪
Marmite Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 Hard being away from your family, sometimes I have to go away with work for a week at a time and that's bad enough. Good luck Abe, although I am going to miss singing about you eating dogs
Tielemans63 Posted 23 January 2012 Posted 23 January 2012 His departure is a loss but not a massive one IMHO. Good footballer but struggled to cope physically with the Champ at times.
