Glasgow Rangers Administration

Rangers Football Club has lodged legal papers signalling its intention to go into administration.

The Ibrox club lodged papers at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Monday, notifying an intention to declare an administrator.

It now has five days to confirm whether administrators have been appointed to take over the running of the club.

The moves comes while Rangers awaits a tax tribunal decision over a disputed bill plus penalties totalling £49m.

It is understood the papers relating to administration were lodged by Rangers' lawyers on behalf of directors.

If the club is formally put into administration it faces an immediate 10-point penalty from the Scottish Premier League.

That would place the Ibrox club 14 points behind first-placed Celtic in the race for the championship.

Probably thought they weren't going to win the league so good timing by them

Oh dear. Poor Huns lol

I felt sick when i heard the news, no doubt the filth that is celtic will be asking to join the English leagues if the worst was to happen to Rangers.

I have a sneaky feeling this thread is going to get messy...

still would be 9pts above 3rd place and i think if they are out of administration they would still get into the champions league,or would they not qualify for being in administration in the same season as qualification?

Jockball is a joke.

We dont want them down here in our league either.

Mind you, they would end up in the Championship at best anyway.

Does it get boring being a massive fυcking retard?

This has been over so many times - Celtic would be a force to be reckoned with if they came down south.

Never like to see a team in this sort of position but it did make me smile. Especially that picture on the Celtic forum of the bloke in his car with ice cream and jelly outside Ibrox hahaha

Actually everything I've ever read or anyone I've ever spoken to agrees that Celtic would be a poor premier league team at best.

I'd be interested to see your information to the contrary, being that it's been over so many times...

The only decent thing Celtic would bring is the Poznan, which isn't done in Eng-.

Oh well.

Simple - the world has a ridiculous obsession with the Irish - Boston Celtics, Irish themed pubs, Guinness and all - the prospect of an Irish themed club in a world renowned league would have the ueber-rich absolutely creaming themselves with the "marketability" and all that crap.

You may not be able to buy success, but money will near certain get you close to it, and the revenue Celtic could draw down here would be phenomenal.

I'd disagree with this, even if it is completely off topic to your original point...

I don't.

It's a point I've made hundreds of times before.

Anyone who thinks Celtic would never be a strong Premiership side are being very short sighted. Sure, they've got rubbish players now but that's completely irrelevant. They're a massive club and would be a windfall for any investor. The world's Ireland fetish aside, they've an enormous, loyal fanbase, fantastic facilities, a great history and an enormous reputation globally.

If restrictions stopping them from qualifying for European competition through the English leagues could be negotiated they'd be a force in English football within five to ten years, easily. Hands down.

I'll bite all day long, son. I'm in the mood.

Someone tell a sheep joke. Or laud Thatcher. Go on, dares ya.

This is so you can wind your neck in.

I'm laughing at Rangers.
