Voll Blau Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Not keen on Rangers (or their politics) by any means, but it's never nice to see a football club that means so much to so many go down the pan. Wouldn't even wish it on Forest or Derby.
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Brings back some great memories. Did you listen to it, out of interest?
The Doctor Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Say it to my face or don't say it at all mate. Well that's kinda hard to do when I don't know who you are. Do keep up chap.
ACF Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 If they join the Prem straight away, I have a problem. If they do an MK Dons, work their way up, I'm fine with that.
davieG Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 If they join the Prem straight away, I have a problem. If they do an MK Dons, work their way up, I'm fine with that. MK Dons didn't work their way up did they?
purpleronnie Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 If they join the Prem straight away, I have a problem. If they do an MK Dons, work their way up, I'm fine with that. I assume you mean AFCWimbledon.
john ridley Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 bet danns is glad sven talked him into coming here
The Doctor Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 If they join the Prem straight away, I have a problem. If they do an MK Dons, work their way up, I'm fine with that. So, steal someone else's club to break in a lot higher than they should do?
Guest ttfn Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Agree with everything Finnegan's got to say about Celtic. I think they'd be major contenders if they came down to England.
Tom17LCFC Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Agree with Finnegan in the respect that it'd take a few years for them to establish themselves. Absolutely no chance that if they came down to England now they'd be a major force to be reckoned with, with the players they have at their disposal. Once they've had a few years to settle and and shape their squad, I reckon they'd do well.
I am Rod Hull Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 It would take a lot of investment to compete with the likes of Man C, Man U, Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs to tempt the best players in the world to go to Glasgow. Do you think the big boys in the Prem are going to let them spoil their party? I very much doubt it....
21st Century Fox Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Not forgetting now much of an attractive outfit Celtic would become to new buyers and investors if they came down south, they've got a massive worldwide fan base and would be in a more attractive and widely viewed league. They would absolutely be a challenging force given time. Where they'd come in at is a totally different matter, can't say I'd be hugely chuffed about it but it would be interesting. With the amount of bleating the Scottish F.A. make about their autonomy, I'd keep that door well and truly locked personally.
Amin Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 The rise in TV revenue alone would provide Celtic with the finances to establish themselves as a decent prem team.
Asha Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Sure, Celtic may have 'potential' as a decent side in the English leagues, but under what circumstances would that switch be made? Would they just be plonked straight into the Premier League (how is that fair?), would they have to work their way up from the Isthmian Leagues (how would that attract the fans and investment for the 'massive potential' to come to fruition within 'a few seasons'?) Where would the demise of Rangers and Celtic jumping ship leave Scottish football?
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 No idea. Not saying it'll ever happen or that it should happen. But people going on about how they'd never stand a chance in the Premiership really, really grind my gears.
Salieri Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Let's get back to the main point of the thread, when are Mack and Large Al gonna meet up for a ruck?
Asha Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 It's clearly a naive thing to say. Just to compare it with Welsh teams, I believe Scotland has much more of a football 'heritage'. Celtic are clearly a well-established club with a major following already. Much more so than say, Swansea, who are currently comfortable in mid-table in the Premier League and Cardiff who are consistently knocking on the door to get there. Of course Celtic would 'stand a chance' in the Premier League, especially when you consider the increased attractiveness to 'big-name' players that playing in a more competitive league would bring. I'm concerned that it 'really grinds your gears' though, man. Christ, there's bigger things to worry about.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Let's get back to the main point of the thread, when are Mack and Large Al gonna meet up for a ruck? They could make some coin thru tv revenue as well.
Stadt Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 £10,000 bet on Celtic to win the league Speaking of potential massive clubs Sunderland could be huge the way they're going.
Finnegan Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 I'm concerned that it 'really grinds your gears' though, man. Christ, there's bigger things to worry about. We all have pet hates. Mine is stupid people.
