Boltons muamba heart attack?

It seems quite unprofessional of Sky to state that he was stable without any details of his underlying condition, it got quite a lot of peoples hopes up. It would have been prudent to wait like everyone else did.

True, in that the terms 'stable' and 'critical', to me anyway, give out quite different messages.

Stable is so misleading. Gives people the impression they're out of the woods.

Yeah exactly, should have said nothing until the joint statement from the hospital and club.

Awful day for football, must be terrible for his family especially his son. Got to hope he pulls through just like CC did. There is one saving grace that he was playing close to some of the worlds best hospitals.

Also shows the role that the St Johns Abulance plays in our country, the fact they were there and trained so well may just have saved him.

Yup. The missus was saying that if it'd have happened anywhere else he probably wouldn't have recieved the crucial and immediate attention needed as quick as he did tonight.

It can't have hurt there being a Cardiologist in the stands who came out to help either, everyone seems to have been so quick off the mark. Must be a torturous night for his friends and family but he's probably in some of the best medical hands in the country.

Just seen a clip of it, the reaction of the crowd is brilliant, very emotional.

Can only wish the best and hope he pulls through.

Any other fans would of booed him for going down untouched... And even to some extent chant 'let him die'... Nothing like this at all at WHL, I think they released the seriousness straight away. Also how Spurs fans change his name

I don't believe that would have happend at all.

Like the Forest fans with Clive Clarke in 2007?

Plenty of idiot fans out there who would've reacted differently I'm sorry to say.

But did they know how serious it was?

Anyway lets just hope he pulls through.

If he makes it through it will be absolutely remarkable.

Either way, the emergency services, medical staff from each side and players have been an absolute credit to themselves

Well thankfully he's in a specialist unit, we just have to be thankful we live in such an advanced era....in terms of medical stuff.

What is pleasing that the whole football world is thinking of Muamba...

I'm no expert (not even close) but the fact he made it through night is a positive sign.

And as for the whole "stable/critical" thing you can be both at the same time. Stable just means he's not in decline but critical suggests it's very serious. So sky weren't incorrect, but perhaps they should have elaborated and said that it was still far from over.

Update from Sky Sports News. Nothing I don't think we didn't already know. But it's more news from this morning.

http://www1.skysport...-critically-ill

Fabrice Muamba is critically ill in intensive care at the heart attack centre of the London Chest Hospital.

The 23-year-old collapsed in the 41st minute of Bolton's FA Cup quarter-final against Tottenham, with the match abandoned after the player received treatment on the pitch from paramedics.

Bolton manager Owen Coylespacer.gif accompanied Muambaspacer.gif to the hospital and emerged on Sunday morning to give an update on the player's progress.

He told Sky Sports News HD: "Fabrice is critically ill. The next 24 hours are going to be absolutely crucial."

"It's very serious. There's not getting away from that. He's critically ill and God willing he makes it through."

Coyle on Muamba conditionQuotes of the week

He continued: "We've obviously been inundated with people wishing him well and we hope that if everybody can pray strongly tonight that Fabrice is able to recover.

"It's very serious. There's no getting away from that. He's critically ill and God willing he makes it through."

The club released a statement on Saturday which read: "Bolton Wanderersspacer.gif can confirm that Fabrice Muamba has been admitted to the heart attack centre at London Chest hospital where he is currently in a critically ill condition in intensive care.

"The club has requested the media to respect his family's privacy at this time."

A further update on the condition of Muamba is expected to be released at some point on Sunday morning.

The former England Under-21 star underwent intensive treatment amid worrying scenes at the north London ground.

He was wearing an oxygen mask and was then taken to the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green in east London.

Within a second of seeing Muamba fall to the ground, Bolton manager Owen Coyle shouted "he's just collapsed" before running on to the pitch to be alongside his player amid a sombre atmosphere at Tottenham's ground.

I was driving back from Scotland listening to 5live when this happened. Made for a depressing last few hours of my journey listening to the story develop. Doesn't sound good at all for poor Fabrice, but the reaction of the fans was great. I wonder what would happen if a Coventry or Forest player collapsed at the KP/ (Or indeed, if the response would have been so positive had it been an Arsenal player for instance?)

Regardless, let's all hope he pulls through.

And Simmsy is right with his definition of stable/critical.

It's sad and sick, that one sick message gets out then people jump on the bandwagon.

Don't believe anything vile idiots say, facebook and twitter people who have dubbed messages like this, will get the police onto them hopefully.

Pray for Muamba

I was thinking the same but along the lines of had it been Marlon King on Tuesday, he may be a vile person and a coward but how sickening would the cheers of been i he'd just fell on the floor.

I do like to think that no matter who the football family would act the same or at least realise what twats theyve been, should they initially cheer a rival player being in such an awful way.
