Haydos Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I am just looking down the RIP Muamba tweets actually and im finding one message in particular is getting retweeted. And the only people who have retweeted this, are people from Holland and nowhere else. I was drawing attention to the fact that everyone is asking why it's trending and mentioning it in their tweet and in doing so, contributing to it trending. I don't think they understand what trending is Don't get how twitter haven't blocked it from their trending list though.
kingfox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Still looking and tweets are coming through but the only people retweeting this are from Holland. Nearly every single retweet saying RIP Muamba, is by a Dutch person, or the odd woman who knows little about football. Strange in all honesty, very strange.
z-layrex Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 If he makes it through it will be absolutely remarkable. Either way, the emergency services, medical staff from each side and players have been an absolute credit to themselves He wouldnt have stood a chance if it wasnt for the brilliant response from the medics and paramedics at the ground, out of hospital arrests rarley survive under normal circumstances. Its why its so important that members of the public learn cpr and how to use portable defibs for on trains and in supermarkets etc.
BoneDog Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Like everyone else I hope he pulls through. Thoughts go out to all his family and friends too.
MPH Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 The danger for Fabrice now is that whilst he wasn't breathing for himself and whilst his heart had stopped = Did he suffer any brain damage? I really hope not. This is a little clip from what Clive Clarke said last year : "It was real relief," remembers Clarke. "I began to realise how lucky I was to survive. The doctor said that when your heart stops for three minutes, to make a full recovery is very difficult. I've been lucky enough that I have made a full recovery so far. Muamba's heart was down for much more than that.... #prayingformuamba

He recieved immediate cpr, which hopefully means tissue perfusion was maintained throughout his arrest. His heart was not 'down'.
MikeyT Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Today's update. Nothing new really. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11672/7608692/Muamba-stable-but-critical Fabrice Muamba remains in a stable condition on Monday morning but critically ill after suffering a cardiac arrest during Bolton's match against Tottenham. Muamba collapsed in the 41st minute of the FA Cup quarter-final at White Hart Lane on Saturday, with the game abandoned after the player received treatment on the pitch from paramedics. He was taken to the London Chest Hospital and has been in intensive care at the heart attack centre since Saturday evening. Regular statements have been released to keep everyone up to date on the 23-year-old's progress, and there remains no change on Monday morning. "Fabrice Muamba's heart condition is stable, but he remains critically ill in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital," read the latest joint statement from the hospital and Bolton. "The family is grateful to the media for continuing to respect their privacy at this time." Messages have been pouring in from across the football world wishing Muamba well.

His heart was not 'down'. I know its not nice but the other poster has a point. I've done a couple CPR courses and after a certain amount of time the lack of oxygen does affect the brain. Can't remember the exact amount of time but it was more than 3 mins but a lot less than 2 hours. CPR helps your body but it doesn't give the same amount of oxygen to the brain as a full working body. If he does survive he could have brain damge. Whilst obviously I am no means an expert when they said his heart had stopped for nearly 2 hours this was my immediate thought. I thought he was going to be ok, its almost like they've told everyone this 2 hour thing to bring them back to reality.

Haydos Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Will he ever play football again? Doubt it. Clive Clarke didn't and Muamba's condition appears to be even more critical.

His heart was not 'down'. HYPOXIA is the term given to oxygen starvation and when brain tissue is deprived of oxygen-rich blood. Even after prolonged CPR when blood circulation has been maintained artificially, testing has detected brain impairment, with varying levels of severity. Sometimes just memory loss. The CPR will of been working on his heart to get it working again but it is a poor way to get oxygen rich blood to his brain. Not trolling, just stating some facts. However one thing that we can be sure of, if Clive clarke was not abe to play fotball again its highly unlikey Muamba, who's sitution has been much more severe, will be seen in a football shirt again...

The only thing that is annoying me although I know it shouldn't, is his wife saying that 'all your prayers' are working. No they are not, prayer does nothing! I understand that she is probably gaining mental strength through religion which is fair enough, but it's just one of my pet peevs.

I'm a Religious sceptic also but it's at difficult times like this that Religious organisations can really be of huge comfort to loved ones, and that is not to be sneered at, even if you don't believe in God. As for Muamba he is talking now and seems to be getting a better so lets hope the morbid fascination around his fate now ceases. As for playing Football again you must be joking, he has a heart condition and he will never play again however better he gets. The club and the player should get an insurance pay out, he is a clever lad and I'm sure he will find a new path in life.

There was an article in the independent yesterday about another player that played for Bolton who had a heart attack before a game and ended up playing again with a pacemaker, I think Muamba is a lot more serious though, I suppose your career is a small price to pay to keep your life.

He was already studying for a degree. Hope he'll be in a position to resume his studies soon, as it looks as he'll need to make use of them a lot sooner than planned. Also hope that, whatever happens, Bolton make sure that his family are well provided for.

It would be great if he did but one of the reasons Clive Clarke couldnt is becuase no one would insure him ...
