armstonfox Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Not sure if there has been a thread about Peltier so delete this if you want but basiclly has anyone else noticed that at the start of the season Peltier was running at defenders and bombing forward but now he just seems to slow it down when he goes forward. When he gets the ball on the wings now, you dont see him run at the left backs constanly now he passes it back instead. At the start of the season he was whipping in balls into the box and hes got a cross that will swing away from the keeper and could cause them serious problems but he just doesnt seem to do that anymore. Hes been a good player for us this season so im not trying to slag him off or owt but im just seeing if anyone else has noticed this
kingfox Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 It might be because of lack of service. I find that Peltier still gets forward ok, it was his defending which has let him down recently. I thought he was back to his best against Hull though, Stewart and Brady never got past him. He stuck to his job and succeeded. From August to January, along with Nugent and Kasper I would of had Peltier down as our best player, last couple of months though he has gone down hill. I like Peltier though, I still think he is attacking well, but we haven't seen him cut inside as often as he used to, he was doing that against West Ham away left right and centre, and frankly troubled them. He will be back to his full quality soon enough in my opinion.
armstonfox Posted 28 March 2012 Author Posted 28 March 2012 Yeah he has struggled at times this season which i understand because he is young and hes stepped up from League 1. Its just frustrating at times because you think back to earlier in the season and you think to yourself you used to cut in, run at the defenders more often, he had no fear going forward.
cc_star Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 In recent times he played OK with Gally in front of him because Gally cut-in leaving room for Pelts on the overlap, whereas Marshall then Dyer hug the line more leaving Pelts nowhere to go... On the other side Konch is the one who cuts-in with Dyer/Nugent hugging the line It's all part of the balance & fine tuning which enables a team to better than the sum of its parts
Out Foxed Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 this was particularly evident in the notts game. he seemed scared to get forward.
Unabomber Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 He has not been in a great form for a few weeks, it's probably not helped with the lack of competition for his place with Paintsil seemingly nowhere near the first team and Moore having been injured.
cityfanlee23 Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 In my opinion hes leaving us open in the back, Like you said hes not going forward with as much urgency, the problem is hes not tracking back with urgency, if he wants to be a winger then tell pearson, dont leave us open at the back!

chris_lcfc_85 Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 I think that its been a good learning curve for Pelts this season, he's had some great games and some not so great. Overall i'd say a decent first full season at Championship level and will defo be better for it next season. On a side note, although he's not been his best recently, i feel, defensively, he was excellent against Forest and Hull
FrankieADZ Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 given its his first season at this level I think its all caught up with him imo. Also...didnt he say that he didnt expect to play the amount of games he has aswell.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Isn't Peltier 25? Hardly a young lad. Should be coming into the peak of his career. If he can improve his awareness then he has the makings of an ok Championship rb. Hardly going to set the world alight though and will never be a Premiership player. One of the ones that need replacing in the summer imo.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Are you a mind reader? What does that even mean in relation to what I typed?
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 I was thinking the same thing! ****ing weird. Edit as it looked like I was being abusive but accidently posted as on my phone. No offence meant.

Dont worry, when im behind a keyboard im 6 ft 5 professional boxer/weight lifter/karate/gangster, so would of just killed you anyway!
Guesty Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Can't blame him if he gets annoyed running forwards putting a cross in and nothing comes from it. Then they break, no one in midfield provides any cover for the fullbacks so they have to leg it back, then get blamed for being out of position. Think maybe he reached the point where he just got fed up/knackerd running forwards for no reason. He isn't as good as he was earlier in the season, but has looked better since we went ot 4-3-3.
coolhandfox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Played well up until around Christmas, struggled since then and has not been at his best. Even the best players can suffer a loss of form in a season. Maybe he has been given instructions by Pearson with regards not getting over committed going forward. I always believe a player should be judge over at least a season and half. If he has not kicked on by this time next year then he’s probably one to move on.
Bryn Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 He did this a lot v Forest but then they had both wide players on each flank sitting so deep, he had no chance of getting past them.
lcfcsnow Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 No change since the beginning of the season for me.. whilst decent defensively he seemed to lack the confidence to go forward with the ball, almost always checked back.
hbkkids Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Agree he don't dare take anybody on, we were on bout this in sk1 against forest
wakeyfox01 Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 Only ever passes the ball square or backwards frustrates the hell out of me
dannythefox Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 He's never ran at defenders he's to slow. I think he's good at defending but shit at getting forward he does get in some good positions but always plays the pass back to hold the game up we could do better imo.
Kitchandro Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 The important questions are, has he driven whilst talking on his phone, had some drinks with Liam Rosenior or been to Maccys after the match?
Stadt Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 He played better when Faz was here, probably with Faz and Sven gone his confidence went with it.
