Merging Cultures Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 It's another win and our season isn't quite dead yet. But this type of win is required six or seven times next year if we are to challenge at the top. I doubt we'll be worrying Man U and Man C too much...
mattsmith74 Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Before Donny game in a fit of exasperation I worked out we'd dropped 25 points v teams in bottom 8. That sums us up. 3 days later that still the case but how things have changed. Play offs or not are we finally seeing the attitude from players we've been craving all season? Soton and Reading are no better than us on paper but possess a wonderful team ethos. Gets you a very long way. #ibelieve
reynard Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Next two sets of fixtures: Barnsley V Cardiff Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Birmingham V Bristol City Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Burnley V Coventry Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Crystal Palace V Ipswich Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Derby V Middlesbrough Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Doncaster V Portsmouth Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Leeds United V Peterborough Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Millwall V Leicester Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Nottm Forest V Blackpool Sat 14 Apr 15:00 Watford V Hull Sat 14 Apr 15:00 West Ham V Brighton Sat 14 Apr 15:0 Blackpool V Leeds United Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Brighton V Watford Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Bristol City V West Ham Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Cardiff V Derby Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Coventry V Millwall Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Hull V Barnsley Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Ipswich V Birmingham Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Leicester V Burnley Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Middlesbrough V Doncaster Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Peterborough V Southampton Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Portsmouth V Crystal Palace Tue 17 Apr 19:45 Reading V Nottm Forest Technically I think ours look easier than those around us. Really?Strange thing to admit to but I really want Derby to win their next two matches. Especially as I can't see anything but 3 points for Boro at home to Doncaster. Barnsley of Millwall away? I know which I would prefer. No margin at all for error now. Personally I think only four wins will be enough and we still need Cardiff to lose one or get two draws.
Bert Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 A game of two halves. Ipswich could've been easily out of sight by half time and there could've been few complaints. We were different class second half and Ipswich rarely threatened.

NewburyFox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Gally and Kingy coming on at HT made a massive difference, credit to Nigel for changing the team so soon and so effectively. That goal just before HT was crucial though, I have no idea how it went in. My theory is that the GK palmed it into the top corner, but I'm not certain! Bamba was poor throughout, whilst Morgan was a rock. There was a reason that Scotland went and stood on Bamba and left Morgan alone, SSL in for Saturday please. What a selection headache the midfield poses though! Come on Leicester!!!

demon_dog Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 A good win, shows what we can do when it's not snowing! That's it, Nigel burn the Yellow kit Let's make sure we are in White again on Saturday, beat Millwall and who knows, we could then be in with a good shout for the playoffs. Yet again it also means still no announcement regarding season tickets.
The Doctor Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 just got in from work, have i missed us on FLS? not been on yet I don't think.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 just got in from work, have i missed us on FLS? Nope you haven't mate.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Wow Marshall, just wow.... I'd also like to point out, I've slated Gally in the past, but fair play to him, put in some good crosses and when he plays like that, is one of the best players in the division in terms of pinpoint crossing and accuracy. He will be a good squad player next year, hope he puts in some decent performances and stays.
foxes2011 Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 everyones talking like the playoffs would be an amazing thing but if we do make the playoffs we would have to beat west ham and birmingham home and away to go up. either way cant see us geting promoted but tbh dont even think we will make the playoffs we will probs lose against millwall then the season is vertually over. i personally would love it if we had blackpool in the final of the playoffs though just think it would be an exciting match with the whole holloway thing.
Guy Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 Late coming on here after a late night out so not read any other posts in this thread as yet - so my apologies for any potential repetitions of other jubilant posters ahead of time here! Well it's back on again now alright despite us writing ourselves off more times than Barry Sheen had done with his bikes over the years! At no time has the season been so finely poised as it is right now in our mini league of the Championship of 6th-10th! No wonder Pearson was smiling on the League Show's interview after the game that I just witnessed! It looks like we were worth all three points anyway going by the highlights - and I can't remember the last time we won in the league at Ipswich! Regardless of how we were doing, we always seemed to lose there so maybe the fact that we actually won there today for the first time in god knows how long may be written in the stars along with the remote possibility of us still sneaking 6th. On the other hand the excitement and uncertainty carries on unabated as we're still never more than a centimetre away from earth shattering disappointment either should we mess up in any of the remaining four games, even drawing one could be costly - let alone losing one! Millwall away, Burnley and then West Ham at home and Leeds away on the final day are all as much very loseable as they are winnable - such has been the nature of this entire season! I'd go for two wins and two draws which is probably going to leave us in a frustrating 7th - but I hope I'm wrong. I think I'd be more disappointed if we won all four and finished 7th than I would be if we lost all four and finished 11th!! Much also depends on a mixture of the Taffs, Boro', the Seagulls and Dull City too though I guess...... Good to see Nuge back on the scoresheet after a baron spell and Gallagher back in the side. Also Marshall still continuing to score for fun with another spectacular goal (albeit with a deflection). No doubt I'll be reading more on the who's who of the game tomorrow! Up the City!
theessexfox Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 I think that this is the closest we've been in a long time. Just 3 points. Now we wait for our inconsistency to come back, which it will. Marshall's free-kick wasn't all that, after I saw it on the FL show. Richie Wellens was Alan Young's MOTM. Great win, brilliant results around us, 2 more wins and I'll start believing.
Webbo Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 I don't think Gary Lineker's got anything to worry about.
