Lambert09 Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 Nothing like people complaining after a great start to these young lads careers. Writing a winning team off before they have even got started.... only Leicester fans
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 I thought that this season we had one of the younger squads at this level. We do !
THEFATBASTARD Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 very well done lads..., wish I was one of them...
davieG Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 Nothing like people complaining after a great start to these young lads careers. Writing a winning team off before they have even got started.... only Leicester fans Not writing them off just reminding people not to get too excited or expectant the way modern football is constructed with the demand for instant success makes it extremely difficult for so many of these guys to break through. I'm very supportive of them and often go to see them play although i've not had as much time to do so this year.
Thracian Posted 21 April 2012 Posted 21 April 2012 Outstanding achievement but we really don't show any signs of having the commitment to bring these lads through to senior level. Again, I would ask anyone to name a single Academy player who's been seen to improve since becoming part of the current first team squad? When it comes to our coaching set-up that is the biggest condemnation of all.

Schluup, King (had a lot of stick this season but last 2 seasons has been outstanding.) in the past Piper only injury stopped him having a great career, Heskey, we have a lot of players playing in league one now. Moore looks very promising, did you want any more?
Rand94 Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 what great prospect we have in our acedemey, maybe we dont need big summer signings. jus build from within!
jock2612 Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 Does anyone Know how many of young lads who played today have been released?
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 Does anyone Know how many of young lads who played today have been released? I think 2?

If they were so good, some of them at least would leave and go on to better things. All we manage to produce is a steady stream of league one/two players. Still a great achievement for all concerned in the youth setup.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 In 5 years time we will rule the world! :w00t: Whilst this isn't going to cause ruptures in the footballing heirachy it's still good news. Well done to the youngsters.

Moore looks very promising, did you want any more? Piper and Heskey weren't ever in our current first team squad. Schlupp's not improved at all and hasn't been given chance to improve. King's gone downhill and is nothing like the influence he used to be. I listen to all sorts defending Pearson and his staff and they may be right but as far as bringing Academy players through we've done nothing and we didn't do anything in Pearson's previous stint here. You only emphasise my point with your reference to Moore. he did okay and has never been seen since.
Out Foxed Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 i do think we need to seriously look at getting some new coaching staff for next season, whether it be replacements or additions. nothing about the coaching instills me with confidence after this season.
Callabinho Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 Anybody know who the two players being released are?
Raw Dykes Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 Anybody know who the two players being released are? No, but there was a thread about one of them recently. I'm pretty sure he was a left midfielder/left back. If you can be bothered, you might want to search the threads on here that were created about a week or so ago. I'm sure the thread title was just the name of the player.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 1 is theo brown who I think Is class don't know who the other is though?
ramadaone Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 I've always asked the question why Leicester always do so well at youth level and hardly bring any talent through to the first team.... Well I found out the other day we play older players in the younger teams or something along them lines. Couldn't have got that more wrong if you had tried - we players UP but not down - there are a few occasions where lads may play up more than 1 year If its too comfortable in your own age group you play up so you are always being challenged As many have touched on our Academy coaches appear to be doing a good job but the lads are just not given the chances they deserve The Academy now go into the hat with the other league winners - Man City , Newcastle and probably Fulham - semi-final + final Opponents / Dates to be advised Why not go along and make your own mind up about how good / bad they are ?
Stevosevic Posted 22 April 2012 Posted 22 April 2012 How many players have we bought through the academy that have gone on to better things in the past ten years? I can only think of Stearman, that should tell you whether they are good enough or not.

I can only think of Stearman, that should tell you whether they are good enough or not. I was thinking about this, and I could only remember him and Mattock, who hasn't really gone on to better things at all. Matt Piper was about 10 years ago, now.

ramadaone Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 So are you blaming the Academy coaches or the first team coaches ? If you look at the Academy leagues they are all in there - Villa,Spurs,Aresnal etc etc and we won the league so what more can they do ? Perhaps winning has become more important than development ?
Webbo Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 We seem to have good potential defenders and strikers but do we have any good prospects in midfield for the future?
