Happy Fox Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 If helps us into the prem he will be worth every penny! Promotion bring £90m and that isn't including the lucrative TV deal etc.
FoxLAD Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 i don't think he actually said he wanted to come, i seen before that he had a "special frendship" with Nige!

artursteppe Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Doubt Gally will play much to be honest. King need to improve drastically! Absolutely correct. I really hope we are about to move on from Dyer, Gally, Wellens and a first team selection for King. I'd be alright with him on the bench. From Koren, Danns, Drinkwater, James, (King), in a 4-3-3 with (From)Nugent, Beckford, Vardy, Marshall and Futacs up front. Bring it on!
RizLCFC Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Koren is far better than King and Wellens, the latter signed a contact last year keeping him here till 2014 when he will be 34, I'd rather have Koren aged 34 than Wellens.
i luv u foxes Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 offer him a two year contract with an optional 3rd year after so many apperances in the 2nd season sorted get him signed
foxes1982 Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 offer him a two year contract with an optional 3rd year after so many apperances in the 2nd season sorted get him signed Which is exactly what Dull will do and that is why they will keep him. They have spent good amounts of money in the off season. They have spent 2.6 million on a German, signed Faye and signed the winger from Rangers who scored 12 in 21 games (far more than stewart I might add). They have sold no one they didn't want to leave are apparently looking to get a few other new players as well. They are trying to buy the stadium they play in from the city to expand it so they clearly do not need our money. I don't see us getting him nor do I see us getting anyone from them. I suspect they will be top 6 and challenging us with a few other teams for promotion.
Jaspa Posted 27 July 2012 Posted 27 July 2012 Not fussed about this now Think over the long term theres probably more negatives than positives bringing him in
Howard9 Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 I think we have enough central midfielders, King,Danns,James,Drinkwater and wellens all though wellens is injured for a few months but still we have enough.
Out Foxed Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 I think we have enough central midfielders, King,Danns,James,Drinkwater and wellens all though wellens is injured for a few months but still we have enough. the only unknown there is James. None of the others were creative enough to unlock defenses that set their stall out and came to defend. a major problem last season especially against teams at the lower end of the season. wellens has a major injury and may not even return to full fitness. we still have room for one more CM.
Bayfox Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 for ****s sake what an over reaction. names finished where? no marks finished 5th and lost in penalties. reality check.
MGLCFC Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 The midfield that started 3 years ago that got us to 5th was decent. However, Wellens is 3 years older and lost the stamina to last a season King has regressed Oakley has moved on Dyer is Dyer - on his day brilliant, but too many poor performances In addition to this I believe the standard of players dropping down to play in the Championship means that the overall standard has improved. I would sell King and Gallagher, let Wellens go out on loan when he is fit, use Dyer as a sub. The midfield built around Danns, Drinkwater, Marshall and Koren However, I'm not the manager and this is only my opinion.

It's hard to believe, given the time and the resources that we had/have? thats it's likely we will still be fielding a midfield comprising King and Gallagher. Bad players? No of course not. Consistent/strong/combative enough for promotion in what is going to be a very tough division this season? Also no. IMO. Some of us have been saying this now for God knows how long. We desperately need a central midfield ball winning tough guy to play alongside a really creative midfield man. Forget the defence and the strikers, last season was so poor because of the midfield in our team. Frail defensively, very inadequate going forward. I so hope this year is not going to be more of the same.
MGLCFC Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 As I've no evidence to suggest James will be successful at this level, he would start on the bench for me at the beginning of the season - the midfield, particularly away from home might revert to 5 across the middle, allowing James to play, with Futacs or Nugent as a lone striker. I'm not too bothered who plays across the middle from these 5.
ronnup Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 I hate this idea that we bumpy expensive youngsters and leave them out. Matty James was well regarded as the best passer of the ball at the academy... Give him a chance. If Pearson has sense Danns will be our work horse and we have enough midfielders.
hackneyfox Posted 28 July 2012 Posted 28 July 2012 What col said, too many midfielders who are incapable of changing a game let alone controlling it. Perhaps the new players will improve the defence and attack but the current midfield won't deliver the link between the two. Plan B will be to hoof it to the new Howard. Gone by October.

Guest Col city fan Posted 29 July 2012 Posted 29 July 2012 Agree with this What do ya think about beckford though? just kidding Wind up merchant!! You know my answer... If he plays he must be played according to his strengths. Essentially, quick, fluid football which puts him in on goal one one one. Do this and he can be a clinical finisher. However, more and more I get the feeling that Pearson is not looking to play this type of football. If its a four four two, whipping crosses in from deep, Beckford will not shine. I think those that seem certain he's going to bag 20 league goals need to look not at Beckford himself, but at those around him. If they aren't good enough, neither will he be. If we suddenly become slick, so will he. If that makes sense.

Do u think we have the players capable of slipping the ball behind the defence for him to run on to or is he relying mainly on his strike partner for knock downs etc? Also what formation do you think Pearson will opt for? I think he'll try and make us solid at home and more expressive away from home where the atmosphere is better

If that was the case with the same personnel I see know changes so far in the centre of the park i.e defensive midfielder than we will struggle big time to retain the ball and the opposition will cut through us.
