Started Landman and it felt like a Trump brainwashing piece sponsored by Big Oil/Michelob. Not for me

Also started Girl Taken - set in a fictional northern English town called Holly something, but filmed in Northern Spain for some reason - which makes the whole thing feel odd and bad.

However, also just finished Crowded Room which was utterly amazing. Similar vibe to Shutter Island if you like that kind of thing.

In what way? It would be strange not to have big oil running through the whole programme given it's about a Texas Oil Cop!

Love it when shows do this, especially when it's clearly not England lol

In one scene all the bigwigs were at a conference - guy on stage essentially saying that climate change is fake news.

But that kind of fits with the view of that area considering its a fossil fuel economy - you wouldn't expect them to say Climate Change is real, it wouldn't fit with the programme. I believe Climate change is real but I'll disassociate when watching a made up drama. I'd stick with it, it's a great 2 series.

Oil companies knew that climate change and their effect on it was real in the 1970s (which of course, they denied). I guess it's in keeping with the overall arch of the programme to have them lie at such a conference, but I'm hoping that lie was made at least reasonably apparent.

Yeah, I totally get that viewpoint, and normally don’t let social issues ruin my fun if I otherwise enjoy a program.

However, the oil company spiel, in the context of how the program is presented (overt product placement, general “America is great” vibe) was an annoyance too far. Throw in an elderly guy being distracted by his colleague’s young daughter sunbathing, and making a (supposedly) comedic scene out of this, replete with arse shots and bouncing arse shots, and I started seeing the program as some kind of Republican throwback, “good old days with good old boys” MAGA PR exercise.

There’s plenty of other stuff for me to watch 🤣

All the bits of Taylor Sheridan's shows I've seen have been like this. Sicario is one of my favourite films and I enjoyed Wind River and Hell or High Water as well but his TV stuff is really not for me.

Girl Taken was definitely weird being filmed in Spain, even indoors they didn't make any effort to make the houses seem English, it just ended up looking a bit strange. I enjoyed the story though!

Watched Steal over the weekend. It was decent and Sophie Turner is pretty much always good but it also made me dislike the gilet in the office types a lot more

Agreed it was a good watch and thought Sophie Turner played the lead well

Landman is refreshingly brilliant. As is Lioness.

3rd season of The Night Agent isn’t quite hitting it as the first two.

Watched 20 mins last night and nodded off, tiredness rather than the plot! Will give it a go as enjoyed the first two

Dirty Business on C4 is worth a watch, another national scandal, still ongoing.

Watched it last night.  Fascinating.

Macquarie get a mention too, and not in a good way, which is just great as they have us in their pocket!

Only just found out that Ted Lasso is coming back for season 4...

Initially I thought it was decent but after several episodes I got bored with it.

New series of From coming soon. Have been rewatching the first 3 series. I love it, I loved Lost and I just love watching a mysterious show without a ****ing clue what's going on:D

I know I'm not the target audience but still staggered that anyone with any basic intelligence would want to watch bilge like Bridgerton

Awful. Poorly written, badly acted.

I've never watched any of it, but I just know. :D
