Finished the After Life finale. It absolutely floored me.

Would agree with some critiques about some of the writing though - one of the biggest rules of screenwriting is ‘show don’t tell’ and The Office was utterly masterful at this - not just Tim and Dawn but Sheila’s attraction to Howard.

With After Life you had Tony explicitly stating how he felt and why and what he should do next. He nailed the emotionality of the show but really fell flat with exposition IMO. The former resonates with so many people though, which is why I loved it.

**** me that final scene.

The grief porn aspect didn't bother me in that sense, but it's the fact nothing happened, for the vast majority of the series Tony was a complete an utter sociopath but it's ok cause his wife died. He had 3 seasons to progress the character, but him meeting a boy with cancer in the last episode is the development to decide to be a decent person, it was honestly so lazy. Add a C word every episode and bloody hell you don't believe in God do you and that's literally the show.

I've not had depression or anything like that and I can see why some find it comforting, but as an actual TV show it's beyond subpar.

The Teacher with Sheridan Smith , started off ok and then got more ridiculous as it went on

Finished after life, unpopular opinion but this is the worst stuff Gervais has done and I include Derek in that, he really needs a co writer.

Absolutely nowt wrong with Derek - excellent series (and underated imo)

Totally agree ...   binged it last night and after the first two episodes thought hmmm this might just be good ! ...  sadly the last episode was, quite frankly, a total let down (unbelievable and daft),  Sheridan Smith (love her or hate her) is a brilliant actress and carries things along quite nicely ..  but, if the plot falls off a cliff ,there isn't much even she can do about it.   It's a thumbs down from me.

Pam and Tommy on Disney+

It's VERY adult. Not sure what I was expecting being about, y'know - a sex tape. But being on Disney+ I just kinda thought it would be toned down.

I love Seth Rogen. It's very well made. The 90s attention to detail, prosthetics and casting is on point. It's also batshit crazy at times.

But it feels a bit... Icky. I know Lily James has come out and said "we're all complicit" in what was an understandably horrible time Anderson and Lee's lives, but the tape was leaked without their consent and it feels like the show is exploiting them all over again. Especially learning that Anderson wanted no part of it and didn't want it to be made. The guy who literally stole their property and profited massively from a very intimate moment is portrayed as some sort of hero.

I actually feel pretty sorry for Pam Anderson having seen a couple of episodes. Neither of them are portrayed in the most flattering light, either.

Bit grubby, IMO. Not sure I'll finish it.

I said to myself if it was a film I would have watched it, but being a TV series put me off a bit.

I've now reconsidered...

Saw it last year. It's amazing, isn't it? Although given the level of tragedy involved, not quite the romp I was led to believe, but still absolutely fascinating

Yeah, I enjoyed it. Legendarily bonkers place.

Wouldn't bother with the Johnny Knoxville comedy based on it though.

How did they think this waterslide was a good idea? lol

Amazing isn't it 😂

The bit about finding teeth inbedded into the slide was a little bit disturbing though!

Trigger point isn’t very good is it.

Lots of inaccuracies and huge improbabilities. The scene in the briefing room from the senior officer woman was just daft.

I don't mind mine talking, but I draw the line at anyone else's. Now if it was talking boobs, well then you're on to something!

I don't have the patience for most TV shows but Archiv81 is keeping me interested on Netflix

An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes, but finds themselves getting pulled into a mystery involving the missing director and a mysterious cult that they were documenting

I really enjoyed The Tourist but that final episode really ran out of ideas. Great cast, particularly Danielle MacDonald as the policewoman.

Watched three episode of Stay Close but think it’s shite

One watched 2 so far. It is a bit odd. Will probably watch more but not convinced it will be worth it
