Nearly finished season 1 of Friday Night Lights on Amazon.

I haven't got a ****ing clue about American football but it's absolutely excellent, never a dull moment.

One of my favourite series ever. Loved the whole lot and I can't stand American Football.

I think it's genuinely one of the top 5 series I've ever watched.

All character led and all have really deep stories even if it's just standard life stuff.

It really does tick all of the boxes.

Kyle Chandler (Coach Taylor) Is fantastic.

Was watching it around the time my second child was born. If it was a girl we were gonna call her Lyla. It wasn't though.

Just finished Halo

Not bad.  Definitely not a disaster like the fanboys claim, but also not great.  Around a 6/10 for me.

Had some god action at times and entertained me for 9 episodes.

Still Game is good fun and the characters are brilliant. It's so easy to binge.

There's something about the Scottish accent that makes the delivery of their lines ten times funnier lol

Ahh pish. 🤣

Watched a light hearted program with dark undertones called somebody somewhere … popped it on as I was bored one day … utterly brilliant … sorry if someone has already mentioned it before

House Of The Dragon first episode was very strong imo

It’s a little bit brutal.

Didn't expect House of the Dragon to be anywhere near as good as it was.

Do think it needs to be a little less serious though. Obviously I doubt we'll be seeing scenes as full on at that scene every week so I suppose it won't always be quite that traumatic but I found the first episode was missing the light hearted conversations that we got between characters like Tyrion and Varys or Bronn and Jaime in the main series.

Lazarus Project

Had never heard of this show.  Saw he trailer on youtube and thought it sounded like a great premise.

Started great, but then

It went downhill fast.

I loved the character of Archie.  Loved the actress.  Wish the show centered on her.
Instead it centered on George, who started out very likeable but then turned into the most self centered, selfish POS I've seen.

Once George changes, the writing also turns to crap.
George has such high morale character, that torturing someone to save the entire world is outrageous to him.  Then he kills and kills without hesitation.

He goes from untrained, to easily wiping out the Russians security forces?

An airplane flies over the site of a nuclear blast, hours later - and they have no issue with the electronics being fried?

This show just ended up pissing me off.

There will be a second season, and I dont give a crap.

I find I'm watching streamed TV shows more and more, to the point I think I only watch the news and the occasional movie on 'normal' (non streamed) tv.  Recently watched

Surface - ok, just, but a little formulaic

Only Murders In the Building - entertaining, some excellent gags/delivery

The White Lotus - amusing, mocking social commentary

The Bear - excellent stuff, top acting and dialogue

Black Bird - engrossing, some captivating performances

All the above are worth watching imho. I've not listed the stuff I've not clicked with, and there's a fair amount of that!

.I am the same.   Finds it much easier to be invested in characters via long term storylines rather than short term appeal presented by films.    The recent trend of condensing seasons into 10ish episodes to preserve quality of the writing has helped me to be able to consume and enjoy more shows too.

TV shows also work much better for my lifestyle as a father of a young kid too- it was rather jarring to watch two episodes in row recently when I had some free time!   I also think I am influenced unfortunately by short term consumerism of the modern society, I struggle to watch two minutes video on Facebooks now without becoming impatient.

I think TV is the new film. Or something. That is, I think the quality of writing for TV is much much better since streaming, ditto characters and plot, and rivals film. I'd agree; a good 10 episode TV series is more enjoyable for me, as a rule, than a 2 to 3 hour film - and more reliably so. Added to that, the recent trend of films (super heros and dragons etc) has had me pretty much turning away from film. Shame is, I KNOW I'm missing out on some damned fine films.
