ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Peltier hatred, from what? Never done anything off the pitch to deserve hatred, just not playing to his best... Now we've resulted in playing a CB and RB unless Bid Old Nige has something up his sleeve Would still of been a decent impact sub (well not impact sub, but you know what I mean ) and keep the new boy on his toes

ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Impact sub? He's a right back. I couldnt think of the word I was looking for
dannythefox Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 We wont miss pelts or mills but is does make you wonder why coyle and warnock want them they must see something in them to sign them. But like most we sell they will leave and start playing well .
Fox92 Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 It's not good letting our players go on the cheap! No its not, however, what else is there too do? Reject the only bid for him, pay him/his wages for doing nothing each week and watch his value decrease even more? Nobody likes players going for less than what we paid for them, but considering we did overpay for certain players, such as Mills and Peltier, this is going to happen, so get used to it. Nigel has to get rid of players, get some wages off of the books, and if one club bids less than what we initially paid, then he can't do much else.
Filberts Treat Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Few people are failing to grasp the idea that we HAVE to reduce the wages even if it means making a loss over transfer fees paid. In the long run we're better off
Fox92 Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Few people are failing to grasp the idea that we HAVE to reduce the wages even if it means making a loss over transfer fees paid. In the long run we're better off Yeah, that's what I meant.
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 That's the thing... I can understand the sale of Bamba and loaning out Mills... Both on relatively big wages for this level. Peltier, I believe, will go for football reasons, not for his wages, which I doubt are big. I would be surprised if Pelts is earning as much as say, Wellens or Gallagher and I can't see interest coming in for them at present. And if Pelts gets sold for football reasons, then I think he's better (or could be) than what we have seen of him last season. Same with Jermaine Beckford. I've said it before and will say it again, there are players in this City squad I'd be wanting to ship out before Peltier. However, we all gotta give Pearson the time to try to improve on last season. So I'll go with his decisions for now.
reynard Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 People need to relax a little over this. Ok so we're going to get less than we paid for him. However, we did at least get some value as he did play almost an entire season for us and played quite a lot of matches. To any Leeds fan he's an average player who maybe has some potential to improve a little. He's 26 so he's not at the young end of the scale in terms having years to improve a lot. He tries 100% and is a good squad player. I don't really get all the vitriol on here directed towards him. As far as I can see he basically tried his best and started the season pretty well. In fact I seem to recall several posters thinking he was pretty good early on. Throughout the season he made some errors and appeared to tire but was hardly helped by the powderpuff midfiled playing in front of him, a problem which still exists and which unless we do something to solve in the next few weeks will continue to be an issue next season as well. I'm disappointed it didn't work out for him here. I also find it interesting that in some ways he is exactly the kind of signing that many on here are crying out for (ie young (or youngish in his case) player from the lower leagues who is hungry and with potential to step up a level).
Filberts Treat Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 And he did score on his debut away at Cov. Worth the fee for that. Got nothing nasty to say about him. But "ta da pelts"
dog_4 Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 if we're lining up bids of 500k koren and 3m for chester, then are we really cost cutting or is Nigel just getting rid of players he doesn't get on with and players that make too many mistakes. I think the latter! Peltier was always out of position, bamba gave the ball away too much and mills offffed the ball straight back to the opposition.

Interesting similarity with Mills & Peltier - the clubs we bought them from both had improved seasons without them, both getting promoted. If their former clubs didn't miss them much then maybe neither were as good as we thought when we bought them.
L4EV Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 This was Peltier's first season at this level and he did well enough in the 1st half of the season. I trust Warnock to get him back to his best.
Mark_w Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 He was decent at best, he'll probably do well for Colin but I'm not too bothered about him leaving. De Laet/Moore should hopefully be better options for next season, and based on his previous record I trust Nigel to sort out the defence. I doubt Pelts was on high wages and we aren't getting an incredible fee so I assume NP doesn't rate him, if I was a Leeds fan, that would worry me.
L4EV Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Last season was Peltier's first season at this level and did enough in the first half of the season. I trust Warnock to get the best out of him.
Mark_w Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Last season was Peltier's first season at this level and did enough in the first half of the season. I trust Warnock to get the best out of him. Well obviously you know more about him than us.
Jimmy Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Last season was Peltier's first season at this level and did enough in the first half of the season. I trust Warnock to get the best out of him. he really didn't he started average and faded badly and was woeful positionally
L4EV Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Well obviously you know more about him than us. What I do know is Warnock has an eye for a defender and Peltier has been highly rated for a long time. Looked very good for Huddersfield he really didn't he started average and faded badly and was woeful positionally I'm sure I remember him being raved about on here pre-december
Mark_w Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 What I do know is Warnock has an eye for a defender. So does Nigel Pearson, and he's selling him for £300,000.

Yes we should have rejected the first bid for him (it's early days in the transfer market) Yes pay him his wages and try and get the best out of him every week, who knows he may have improved for us and increased in value, I know Nigel needs to reduce the wage bill, But I am sure we will be bringing in some one else to replace him and dare say his weekly wage will be the same if not more than Peltier's. Good luck Peltier I think dog_4 hit the nail on the head
Mark_w Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Yes we should have rejected the first bid for him (it's early days in the transfer market) How do you know we didn't...?
Oadby Fox Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 How do you know we didn't...? Let me rephrase that as quoted by Fox 92 the only bid for him
Fox92 Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 I'm sure I remember him being raved about on here pre-december I think everyone raved about Matt Mills as well, now look... How do you know we didn't...? Let me rephrase that as quoted by Fox 92 the only bid for him Yes, thank you. But what I meant was the Leeds bid at 300k/350k (whatever price) may have been the only bid. I said this because I was quoting the original post of Oadby Fox who stated about loosing players on the cheap.
