foxfanazer Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Merc reporting again today that pelts 300k move to Leeds done as dusted just waiting for their takeover to be completed. Would be disappointed if he went, still think he's a good player. Just think everyone was comparing him to Naughton who was superb for us
Fox92 Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Yeah, agree with foxfanazer really. Kyle Naughton was a one off, he was our best right back for years, probably the best right back I've seen since attending matches... A lot of goals did come via Peltier's right hand side/sometimes at his back post, but I still think he could be a decent squad player. The 300k fee is slightly disappointing, but we brought an uproved player for a considerable amount, and if no club bids apart from Leeds, we can't just keep him 'just incase'.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 I think Peltier is better than alot of people are saying. He dipped off in the last few months granted but dont mean he's pants. Having said that, i like the look of Liam Moore and i think he might be back up this season to De Laet Agree, he's not pants, however, do feel NP sees DeLaet n Moore as the way forward.
foxfanazer Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 If he goes we need Moore right backs I like Moore and Peltier but I prefer De Laeter
L4EV Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Looks like we're signing him then. Most of us seem happy but reading this thread doesn't fill me with confidence. Is he actually any good? Saying that he will look like Ramos here because we've had Paul Connolly for the last 2 seasons.

Saying that he will look like Ramos here because we've had Paul Connolly for the last 2 seasons. Bang average is how I'd sum him up. If you look at the right back slot from last season, its a position that needs strengthening for our promotion push (hopefully). Most aren't bothered really, just maybe a tad disappointed with the fee. Good luck Pelts.

He has his good points can be a threat in the air offensively but was found wanting tracking back and positionally on numerous occasions. Wish him well if it happens as he seems genuinely good bloke and noone can question his commitment to cause!

Good luck Pelts. ****s sake We seem to be signing alot of overrated players, Peltier, Green, Norris, would be better than what we normally sign but has me thinking who the **** is taking us over, no one rich it seems
NewburyFox Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 His positioning is awful. His defending for the goals we conceded at home to Barnsley still gives me nightmares.
L4EV Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 I've sat down, had a think and i've decided to trust Warnock with this signing. As I recall Peltier was one of your better players in the 1st half of the season and this was his first season at this level. Warnock has a reputation of getting the best out of players like Peltier. I do hope we sign another right back in addition, Connolly needs to be shifted to the sunday league
Webbo Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 He's not terrible. He's about mid table championship standard, which is where we finished last season.
MGLCFC Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Is that one of the reasons for a below expectations campaign - too many players played below standard or just weren't good enough to elevate us higher?
Danno Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Is that one of the reasons for a below expectations campaign - too many players played below standard or just weren't good enough to elevate us higher? I'd say we didn't have any players that are good enough, wouldn't say any are Premier league quality
Oadby Fox Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 It's not good letting our players go on the cheap! Leeds add defender to ranks despite takeover not being completed? Sat 30th Jun 2012 18:40 Rumours circulating in Leicester suggest Leeds have agreed a fee of £350,000 for City defender Lee Peltier. The Leicester Mercury report that the right-back will return to West Yorkshire in a cut price deal. Leicester shelled out £750,000 to our dear friends from Huddersfield last summer. However having changed their manager mid-season, Leicester are having a bit of a clear- out and this is not the first time United have been linked with the Liverpool born defender this summer. Peltier began his career at Anfield and moved out on loan to Hull and Yeovil, eventually joining the Glovers permanently before his move to the Galpharm. It is understood Huddersfield are also monitoring the situation, however the feeling is that a move to Leeds is all but a done deal and it will get the green light once Leeds new owners take the helm next week. Another Leicester misfit who was also linked with Leeds, Matt Mills is on the verge of joining Bolton in a deal which could rise to £2m. Again this would represent a huge loss on the player they paid Reading £5m for a year ago and it was not as if the Royals missed him! If the Foxes are feeling so benevolent, maybe they could let us have Jermaine Beckford back on the cheap as well! http://www.fansnetwo...p?storyid=17387
Libertine Dream Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 He was part of a defence that leaked goals last year, I'd say more goals came as a result of poor play on the right more than on the left. He's not good enough and his value is around 350/400k.

He's not good enough and his value is around 350/400k. He was part of a TEAM that leaked goals. I still believe Peltier would look a much better player in a much better team. Defending (and attacking) is a team game. Putting the blame for leaking goals at the feet of the defenders exclusively is naive. Why aren't people blaming Kasper then? He looked massively shaky in the final quarter of the season. It's not surprising. We couldn't keep the ball and suffered too much pressure as a result. Peltier wasn't the only problem and I feel he's being slightly scapegoated.

Shame we are going backwards and have a "coach" that appears to be getting the worst out of most players and sells any that don't fit the only style of player he can manage.

The amusing thing for me is how many of our 'fans' suddenly turn on players when they know they are gonna be leaving the club. Peltier has received some, but relatively little criticism throughout the season. He's been seen as being a decent young full back, better at coming forward than defending, and it's been generally acknowledged that he's not been supported greatly by those in front of him. Now he's off he's basically considered pretty rubbish. Fickle ain't the word....
Corky Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 He's ok, tends to get so far then stop and pass backwards rather than crossing into the box. Has a long throw that could be utilised.
Poakey Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Hes not that bad, like col says, done nothing to deserve all the hatred
Stevosevic Posted 30 June 2012 Posted 30 June 2012 Hes not that bad, like col says, done nothing to deserve all the hatred I don't think anyone dislikes the lad, he always gives 100% and has some good matches. He is just very average at this level so it won't be a shame to see him leave and replaced with better.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 1 July 2012 Posted 1 July 2012 Best thing we've done all summer. Bye Peltier!
