davieG Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I think it's well known that most people don't use their garage to put their car in, I certainly don't but how many people actually use a bath theses days? I spent a considerable sum of money, when I had a job putting in a new bath and was persuaded to include a jacuzzi but after the initial flurry of use the only attention it gets these days is having the dust washed off it. We have two showers and that's all we and our guests every use. Do you every use your bath if you've got a shower?
davieG Posted 13 June 2012 Author Posted 13 June 2012 I find baths so unappealing lying in your own dirty water whenever I have one, which is rare these days I feel like I need to have a shower to get clean.
Captain... Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I was looking round flats a couple of weeks ago and there was a really nice very reasonably priced flat, with one draw back, no shower, it just seems madness in this day and age not to have a shower, they are an essential. I do sometimes enjoy a bath, usually after sport/physical activity, but that is more for the muscle relaxation aspect than actually getting clean, and not always after sport depends how knackered I'm feeling..
FoxesAreBlue Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 When in marathon training I would have a hot shower followed u a cold bath, but purely for recovery reasons, certainly not relaxing in mid-January in a freezing bath!!
Leicester_Numan Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I like both but I don't have a shower. I think a shower is just for getting clean but a bath is as much for relaxation as cleanliness. You can't sit in a herbal shower
MooseBreath Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I use mine about once per year. Could easily do without. I like the idea of a bath after playing football or whatever out on the cold, but rarely can I be bothered to go through all the hassle of running it and the constant monitoring required to achieve a sensible temperature
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 we have a bath with a shower over, and I must say that the bath is very rarely used for its intended purpose, its just a large shower tray. However, I do enjoy a bath, its just that it takes so long and uses more energy (I would think), so very rarely have one. Time was when showers were just for posh people, and us poor sods would have to bath in the same water, or at the same time, as ther brothers/sisters to save water. invariably someone would have pissed in it before I got in. Had to stop bathing with my sister when she reached the age of 18. (made that up, haven't got a sister, but a nice idea!) more fun farting in the bath than in the shower.
Rincewind Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I struggle getting in/out a bath so its showers. When getting out I'm slipping and sliding so not safe.
ScouseFox Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Haven't had a bath for years. Showers are much quicker and easier and generally better. My whole morning routine takes about 15 minutes from getting up to out the door, it'd take longer than that just to run our bath.
masterg59 Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 i have just go rid of our bath and installed a full sized walk in shower so much better. should of done it years ago
ithuriel Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Shower during the week since i work late shifts but bathe at the weekend to really get the oil and grime out and to help with those small metal splinters that embed themselves into your hand.
Zingari Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 15 mins relaxing soak in the hot whirlpool spa bath ( poor man’s Jacuzzi) with a cup of coffee followed by a quick cooling shower starts most of my days . That’s why I’m always in a good mood And yes the garage is full of my ongoing projects ( or junk if you like )
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Our bath has a ridiculously low overflow hole so that to achieve a proper soak with the water coming up to the shoulders when I lie back I have to cover it with my toes, which isn't fun. I would love a proper bath but we have a nasty cheap shower instead.

I just find that not having a shower in a new build house/flat is bizarre planning. Even if its an over the bath shower unit. The house i have just moved out of didnt have a shower originally, it was 5 years old at the time of renting. Another thing i find strange is...CARPET in the bathroom!!! Our house had that in it originally too.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 You can always swap your standard bath taps for a bath shower deck mixer. The shower hose comes off a connection on the tap, rather than having a shower unit installed above your bath. Much cheaper option too

Much cheaper option too I should imagine it'll depend on your upstairs pressure with a mixer? If it's shite then you might as well lay in the bath and spit towards the ceiling with a bar of soap in your hand.
ousefox Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 We've got three showers and no bath. Don't miss it at all really, there is the odd occasion where i fancy one but that's only about once a year.

If thepressure is adequate enough for a bath then it should work fine on a hose as its a smaller bore. Though it depend on the height of your tanks in the loft.

I think your supposed to let the water out when you' ve finished, and then refill it when you require another one. Just what i heard like.

stripeyfox Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Rarely bath myself but is essential to have for the kids!
