following him on twitter and he seems to be training with the first team squad. hes off to austria today. he joined from leamington in summer if you remember. He is 19 so suppose he's too old for youth team but surely will not be involved this season? everyone seems to have forgot about him!

Isn't there going to be an U19 & U21 leagues?

Definitely an under 21s league, not sure about an under 19s. Would be good to know more info from the club about this, as we were desperately in need of a reserve league last season, and Pearson is building a flexible compact 1st team with the young lads knocking at the door. If they do flourish in the reserve league we will have an optimal set up, which we were lacking in the last 3 seasons.

Pearson's piece in The Merc last week makes me think the lad will get a go early on. There's been a definite move to add hungry players to the squad so would make sense.

The Thais really need to sort out the catering facilities at Belvoir Drive, all I keep hearing about is how hungry the players are. Feed them Top, players can't play well on empty stomachs!!

Poor sir, very poor :P

I think the agents got confused with hungry and Hungary players. Hence the signing of Futacs.,.

He's been very average in training. Worst technique in the squad by far.

Are you talking about Blyth or Futacs? And of course, how do you know?

He has come from Non- League his technique will not be as good as the others yet, but he obviously knows where the goal is.

He is also only 19 give him a chance

The same must go for Vardy on that basis then?

Foxes kid Blyth determined to prove his worth

by MATT DAVIES

JACOB Blyth says he is more determined than ever to make the grade at Leicester City after his early experiences of life as a professional footballer.

The 19-year-old from Nuneaton was handed his big chance when the Championship side signed him from Leamington on a one-year deal at the end of last season.

In recent weeks he has met team-mates including former Premier League strikers David Nugent and Jermaine Beckford, been on a pre-season tour to Austria and helped launch the new Foxes kit in front of 5,000 fans.

He said: “It’s been brilliant so far - nothing has been what I expected. Some people might say it’s the easy life, but it’s not.

“It’s been really hard work. I’ve loved it though. I’ve just come back from Austria with the first team squad and it was brilliant. All the lads are fantastic and they’ve made me feel really welcome.

“The first day of training was pretty daunting. I got there and was like ‘I know these people off the tele’.

“The first session was defenders with defenders and strikers with strikers so I was there with people like David Nugent and Jermaine Beckford.

“I introduced myself and they were really good with me saying not to worry and they knew who I was. I couldn’t believe it.

“The kit launch was fantastic. There were 5,000 people there for that alone.

“It’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever been in front of and the King Power Stadium is brilliant.”

The former Nuneaton Griff and Bedworth United striker says such experiences have given him extra motivation to earn an extension to his deal.

“It’s all encouraging me to do better and work harder. The coaching here is great but the ball is in my court. It’s down to me now. I want to do as well as possible. The manager (Nigel Pearson) has said he’s happy with what I’m doing so I want to press on now,” he said.
