Wes Morgan named new Captain.

If its Nigels way of stamping his authority onto the team then so be it

Our team obviously had some in fighting last year considering some of the things said and what happened on pitches up and down the country, so if this helps that situation and gives us results I cant complain

The only worry that has gone through my mind is that whenever Ive heard Big Wes in an interview, he hasn't seemed the most intellectually endowed, kept on pausing every two seconds to go 'Errrrrr' constantly literally

Still, I quite like it :D:thumbup:

1. He's our best defender

2. Did anybody actually see Kaspers display as captain last season?

3. Why are people surprised by this?!?

I think the three main candidates for the job were always going to be Schmeichel, Morgan or Danns. Would have been happy with any of those three in the role. I guess the most experienced shone through in the end.

Good call by persom for me .

This to appear on player in next few days lol

So Wes whats your reaction to being Leicester city caption ?

" Ermm I'm ermm very ermm proud ermm to ermm be ermm made ermm captain ermm of ermm such a ermm great ermm club. "

I was referring to him starting every game. I don't see how he's good enough for a team planning for a promotion push.

If you really feel like that, we must need a whole new defence aswell? Personally hes the most solid defender we have at the club.

WESSY MORGAN IS A BLUE, IS A BLUE, IS A BLUE!

Can't believe the bad reaction to this good news*. Experienced, an outfield player, the only really solid defender we have and a seemingly good guy. You'd all think he was a god amongst men if his little backheel had gone in against Norwich.

* Then again, I expect nothing less from FT these days.

I suppose you'd prefer Sol Bamba, dribbling half way down the pitch with the ball, always hopelessly out of position and shipping goals every other game. Or Matt Mills, getting sent off countless times and hoofing the ball acorss the pitch to no-one, or into the stand, or straight to the opposition?

Morgan may not be flashy, but he is solid and dependable. That's what a promotion chasing side needs - a defender and a captain that they know they can rely on. He's strong, athletic and he's got a great footballing brain which makes up for that slight lack of pace. I'm honestly struggling to think of many better defenders in the Championship. He's certainly good enough for a promotion chasing side.

So what or who do you class as good enough?

Good choice in my opinion. He may not be the most mobile or tallented player in the world, but he will give %100 every time he takes the field, he has showed more heart and passion in his short time here, than most of the rest of them put together did last season.

And apart from all of that, it will p off the florist fans even more than they already are with the billy smarts circus that's currently going on at the city ground lol:D

Is Danns nailed on to start every game? and after his disciplinary record last season, I wouldn't choose him ahead of Morgan.

Looking at the squad it is difficult to even know who will start every game, the only guarantees are Kasper and Morgan, with the options we have in midfield and up front I know I couldn't say who is going to play every game, or even what formation we are going to play.

Morgan is a good choice, solid reliable and probably the second name on NP's team sheet after Kasper, but keeper captains are not ideal in my opinion.

I take your point on his starting position, but Dans has all the attributes!!

I wouldn't be too bothered about it... He'd never catch you if you ran off!

Still chuckling. Seriously though, good appointment. A leader in the Steve Walsh mould, who cares who he used to play for.

Or to the tune of Captain Planet theme:

Captain Morgan, he's our hero

Gonna keep the score down to zero

He is full of skill and pride

He's fighting on the Foxes side

Might need to be of a certain age to remember Captain planet.

Edit: I'm not sure about the 3rd line either

Captain Shrapnel dum duh dum de dum

Good choice. Still need someone to partner him at the back though IMO, someone to compliment his game.

A good captain should both be able to wind players up, and calm players down. Kasper seems good at the winding up bit. Not so sure he can also be the calming influence that is also required. Wes seems like he will be good at both.

he was our best defender when he was in the team, showed more passion, commitment and more importantly ability than our others players. And when we played forest he didnt play up to their fans like beckford at leeds.

IMO apart from kasper there are no other contenders.

agreed. only one who looked like they gave a shit at Millwall too.

I dont see why people have got such a weird problem with morgan? he played for forest big wow, hes a leicester player now and hes did a good job when he played, enough with pathetic reasons and get behind the kid

Why are they trolls? All because they have a different opinion.

Because they can't find a single positive right now. EVERY single news item that comes out of the club is an excuse to stick it in the manager's neck, even a reasonable one like this. You'd think he was Gary Megson the way these few bleat on here.

Danns wont even make the first 11 in my opinion, did well second half of last season before his ban and will play a bit and good off bench but i will be shocked if our first choice centre midfielders are not Drinkwater and James.

So yes Morgan is the best choice and Pearson was a Centre Half Captain so was allways going to be him.
