Guest Col city fan Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Better candidates out there in my opinion and none of them ex-forest captains! Morgan wouldn't even be jn my starting 11! Are you 'Seenitall' in disguise?
Carter The Boss Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Surpised at some of the negative comments. For me it was always between Wes and maybe Kasper, but like ACF said, Kasper doesn't need the armband, he's vocal enough. Good choice Nig. Haven't read the article yet but I wouldn't mind a few comments from Wes about what an honour it is to captain the club etc etc, the Forest fans will hate that!

"It's a tremendous honour and something I'm extremely proud to be asked to do, because there are a number of my team mates that would be just as capable of doing the job," Wes told lcfc.com.
dave_the_fox Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Is it just me or is anyone else getting pissed off with Beckford being a disrupting arsehole in the team!? I mean, laughing at the new captains jokes!
Bert Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 The right choice by a mile. He's going to start every game. He's experienced and captained before. Down to earth, and more importantly he's "one of Pearsons".
CloudFox Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Re: the Captain Morgan joke. New song...to the tune of the Captain Scarlet theme tune: Captain Morgan, dum duh dum de dum, dum duh dum de dum...
lcfcsnow Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 He's going to start every game. What an exciting season lies ahead.
GLC Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has named defender Wes Morgan as club captain for the 2012/13 season. Morgan, 28, joined from Nottingham Forest in January and takes over from Matt Mills, who has moved to Burnley. “It's a tremendous honour and something I'm extremely proud to be asked to do†Wes Morgan Pearson said: "Wes has shown great leadership qualities throughout his career and his experience and strength of character have been real assets. "As well as an exceptional player, he is an individual everybody in the squad respects and a very good communicator." Pearson added: "I am sure he will thrive on the responsibility of leading the team next season." Morgan added: "It's a tremendous honour and something I'm extremely proud to be asked to do, because there are a number of my team-mates that would be just as capable of doing the job. "I'm fortunate that I'm part of a talented squad that is full of leaders and big characters, which should stand us in good stead as a group for the new season."
indierich06 Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Kasper is way too much of a hothead to be captain IMO. He can be very petulant at times, and while he is very vocal and his attitude isn't in question, I just don't think he's captain material because he's not level headed enough. That's not a slight on him as a player - I think he's the best keeper we've had for a long, long time, but I think Morgan is a much better choice. I don't really like the idea of a goalkeeper being captain really, you're stuck at the other end of the pitch to half of the players - at least a defender can get forward and talk to the other players.
flowwolf Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Apparently as well as captain they have made Morgan a Freeman.
Lambert09 Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 I was a bit peeved when we signed him tbh but he turned me around so quickley. Really decent player and I'm confident he will make a good captain. Much like oakley, he will do as he is told
Captain... Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Re: the Captain Morgan joke. New song...to the tune of the Captain Scarlet theme tune: Captain Morgan, dum duh dum de dum, dum duh dum de dum... Or to the tune of Captain Planet theme: Captain Morgan, he's our hero Gonna keep the score down to zero He is full of skill and pride He's fighting on the Foxes side Might need to be of a certain age to remember Captain planet. Edit: I'm not sure about the 3rd line either
ToeKneeHandCock Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 What an exciting season lies ahead. What excitement exactly would you want from a cb? Couple of step overs and the occasional nutmeg just to spice it up a bit?
CosbehFox Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 What an exciting season lies ahead. Cos good defenders are exciting players? A good defender is a boring competent bastard who ensures a clean sheet.
Dr The Singh Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Meh, looking at the other guys on the pitch, to be fair there aren't many other leaders.........I always thouht Danse would make a good captain!!
leicesterlad1989 Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Is it just me or is anyone else getting pissed off with Beckford being a disrupting arsehole in the team!? I mean, laughing at the new captains jokes! Laughing? I think he looks like he is sh*tting himself! Wasn't sure about him signing at first, being ex forest and all that, but I really like him. Comes across a leader, very solid and strong. A great example to set to the young players around him.
Captain... Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Meh, looking at the other guys on the pitch, to be fair there aren't many other leaders.........I always thouht Danse would make a good captain!! Is Danns nailed on to start every game? and after his disciplinary record last season, I wouldn't choose him ahead of Morgan. Looking at the squad it is difficult to even know who will start every game, the only guarantees are Kasper and Morgan, with the options we have in midfield and up front I know I couldn't say who is going to play every game, or even what formation we are going to play. Morgan is a good choice, solid reliable and probably the second name on NP's team sheet after Kasper, but keeper captains are not ideal in my opinion.
Big Dave Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 The only choice in my opinion. I know many others have said that Kasper should be Captain, but I personally do not like a goalkeeper being Captain. I feel that you need someone slightly further up the pitch that can talk to players during the match. You cannot do this from the 18 yard box.
Petchy Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Quite surprised at the first few negative posts in this thread, I thought most people wanted Morgan to be named captain? Anywho... I'm very happy with this. Least it puts to an end those silly 'Kasper pointing to the head rants' at the defence where they have to pretend to understand what he means. Morgan was the only one who blatantly ignored them and remained composed.
Head Honcho Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Good choice. Need consistency and this guy has it. Over 400 games for Forest is good going and also show's he stay relatively injury free DOH!
lcfcsnow Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 What excitement exactly would you want from a cb? Couple of step overs and the occasional nutmeg just to spice it up a bit? I was referring to him starting every game. I don't see how he's good enough for a team planning for a promotion push.
