Jimothy Posted 19 February 2013 Posted 19 February 2013 Must be hard for Arsenal to full the plug on Wenger. He's integral to the way the whole club is run, not just the teams style of play. Do the board stick with this manager who has had success in the past and has a squad that is close, but never quite delivering, consistently average, or do they go for someone like Moyes with decent record at a smaller club? I think if they went for a Moyes, they wouldn't get any immediate success because the transition would be too great, and if they stick with Wenger, then success in the near future doesn't look likely, they can't really win, whatever they do.
Uncle Albert Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Didn't realise Wenger didn't shake Heynckes hand after the game last night, stormed straight down the tunnel. The man is at breaking point, I seriously thinks he needs time away from Football.
C-man Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 What? A team representing England in Europe and you want them to lose. Representing England? Only Wilshere and Walcott are English! Couldn't give one about any English teams in Europe unless they wear blue and have the initials LCFC.
Danno Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Moyes is so overrated. Hasn't won anything for 11 years, and the no money argument is stupid - look at Everton's squad compared to the rest of the premier league and it's got to be in the top 7 or 8.
Fox92 Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Representing England? Only Wilshere and Walcott are English! Couldn't give one about any English teams in Europe unless they wear blue and have the initials LCFC. They are still an English football club. All personal choice of course, but I'd never want a German (or whatever) side to win.
Jimothy Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Representing England? Only Wilshere and Walcott are English! Couldn't give one about any English teams in Europe unless they wear blue and have the initials LCFC. And Oxlade-Chamberlain. And Gibbs. And Jenkinson. So more than double the amount you first stated, Still not a huge amount, but if you're going the criticise, at least get it right.
ScouseFox Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 Crazy that the two players scoring for AC Milan against Barcelona both played for Portsmouth less than 5 years ago.
leicsmac Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 As someone who despises the media hype circlejerk surrounding Barca, I am currently loving the job Milan have done on them tonight. Hopefully AC can shut the door Italian-style in the Nou Camp and finish the job.
steveherbe Posted 20 February 2013 Posted 20 February 2013 I normally enjoy watching Barca - highlights - but I've just sat through the whole match, and it was pretty boring tbh. All that tippy tappy stuff gets a bit wearing after a time. Well done to Milan, Italys version of City!

purpleronnie Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 I may be wrong but I thought moyles has actually made money for the club over the past 4 seasons on transfers alone, so just because he has a good squad doesnt mean he's spent a fortune, which is probably why a lot people speak of him so highly.

Moyles? Wasn't he the Radio 1 DJ? Moyes probably has made money in transfers but the simple fact remains that managers are usually based on success at a Club and Moyes hasn't done that. Moyes is on silly wages as well at Everton that people I'm guessing won't know either, I think he is in the Top 10-15 Club paid managers in the world. 11 years as manager of Everton and he's got one 4th placed finish and one FA Cup Final runners up medal. Moyes is a good manager with smaller clubs but I dread to think what he would be like with cash at his disposal, I don't think he would be able to go and buy big players at a Club like Man United or Chelsea. I think he would waste a hell of a lot of it.

I just think that he would waste a lot of it on mediocrity and not get the success what these clubs will be wanting straight away. We all know his first signing will be Tony Hibbert.
Father Ted Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 Spot on. You're only anti-Moyes because you're a Liverpool fan. Everton were a relegation battling team under Walter Smith, Moyes comes in and has consolidated them as a top half side year on year, consistently getting into Europe and pushing for the Champions League on occasions. He's also established them as the best team in Merseyside, how many would have said that could have been possible 10 or so years ago.

I don't see how that is anti-Moyes? You honestly think finishing above Liverpool twice in his time with Everton and on one of them occasions Liverpool won the Champions League and the other Liverpool won the League Cup and beat Everton at Wembley to get to the FA Cup Final, you think Everton are the best team on Merseyside? Hmm you Serbs have always been silly boys. Everyone has said Everton have been great this season and Liverpool have been shit, fair enough I completely agree. To be having a great season and only be 3 points ahead of a team who has been shit, isn't something I would be bragging about really but that's just me. Well anyway, I do think Moyes is a decent manager, overhyped but he's decent. I just don't think he is a big club manager.
Danizen Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 Last night's game must have been a wake up to everyone who perpetuates the myth that Barca play attractive football. If it wasn't for Messi, they'd be one of the most boring teams in history. One of the best, one of the most effective but certainly one of the most boring.

Samilktray Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 I refuse to put myself through the mental torture of watching Barcelona anymore.
Danizen Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 because of one game? Not just because of one game but even the most ardent Barca fanboy must have watched them playing two yard passes from side to side and thought, 'Christ, this is dull'. The media wankfest would have you believe that anyone that doesn't play this way, or doesn't appreciate it is some sort of football philistine trapped in the 70s.

Yeah because when those players all come together for Spain without Messi they are absolutely garbage.
Danizen Posted 21 February 2013 Posted 21 February 2013 Spain play a slightly different system and are as a result, slightly less boring. It's still not the most enthralling, is it? Nice passive aggressive smiley, btw.
MC Prussian Posted 21 February 2013 Author Posted 21 February 2013 Yeah because when those players all come together for Spain without Messi they are absolutely garbage. The current Spanish national football side is like marmite. Either you like them, or you don't. To me, they're spectacular. And spectacularly boring to watch, as well.
