Father Ted Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 After today: Schmeichel De Laet Whitbread (if fit, if not then Moore) Morgan Konchesky Knockaert Drinkwater Danns Marshall Beckford Vardy Subs: Logan Moore/Parkes Schlupp Dyer James Nugent King
kingfox Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Even though the defence looked very good today, I still think we need another centre back. Moore can play centre-back and looked very good today, but was more impressed with him at right-back. There is gonna be a serious competition with De Laet and Moore this season. We are going to seriously miss Whitbread and St Ledger though, yes Moore can play centre-back but if he does start against Peterborough and De Laet starts right-back if Whitbread isn't fit, it will leave us with absolutely no cover at right-back. Yes Tom Parkes scored today, but I wasn't impressed with his defensive side, I still believe this kid should go out on loan again but to League 1 this time, he needs to gradually step up and not be shifted in from League 2 football to Championship football. If he has to come in at any point, I can see him being a liabilty. He looked rash, nervous and his passing at times wasn't very good. He really needs to be sent out on loan again, and for a centre back to come in on loan or something.
foxes2011 Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 Very excited about Marshall,Knockeart,Vardy,Drinkwater and James all sound so fresh still worried about the back four though
Swalker Posted 11 August 2012 Posted 11 August 2012 4-4-2 Kasper De laet Morgan Moore (assuming whit bread not fit) Konchesky Marshall Danns Drink water Knockaert Vardy Nugent (harsh on beckford but beckford always does well from coming of the bench and nugent puts a bigger shift in)

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 After watching today I think we SHOULD line up like this: Kasper De Laet. Moore. Morgan. Konchesky Knockaert. Danns/James? DD. Marshall Vardy. Beckford Basically the same team as the first half vs Sunderland just with Knochaert and possibly Danns making the team! We looked very promising first half and to what I seen If we play the same way then p'Boro shouldn't be able to handle us!
Dan Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Schmeichel De Laet - Morgan © - Moore - Konchesky Marshall - James - Drinkwater - Knockaert Vardy - Nugent Subs; Logan, Kennedy, Gallagher, Dyer, Danns, Beckford, Futacs
Dan Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Xabi Alonso also plays regularly in one of the best club teams in the world, what's your point? I think Alonso does a better job than Mascherano and does it far more elegantly and techincally. It's my opinion that when players do their job well, you almost don't notice they're doing it. Last minute tackles or blocks all look very good, but they're last minute because the players didn't do what they should have in the first place. That's why I like Andy King in that deep lying role, his tackling and distribution is actually a lot better than people give him credit for. If he was a bit bigger and stronger, he'd be an insanely good player. As for Cattermole - he is the very definition of a thug, there's absolutely no doubt about that in my mind. Constantly getting sent off, making sickening challenges that could end players careers. I would never want a player like him or Barton or any of their ilk playing for my club. Yet doubtless there are people on here who would just say he is 'committed' and would love a player like that. Not for me. Extremely wise words. I like your thinking a lot.
Thurmofox Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Schmeichel De Laet - Morgan © - Moore - Konchesky Marshall - James - Drinkwater - Knockaert Vardy - Nugent Subs; Logan, Kennedy, Gallagher, Dyer, Danns, Beckford, Futacs agree with this lineup! but with DD & James sitting in the middle with Marshall & Knockaert further up
muzzy1981 Posted 12 August 2012 Posted 12 August 2012 Based on sunderland performance it would have to be: Kasp De Laet Moore Morg Konch Marsh Drink James Knock Vardy Becks

Ian W LCFC Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Schmeichel RB- De laet CB- Moore CB- Morgan LB- Konch RM- Knoockout CM- Danns CM- Drinkwater LM- Marshall ST- Becks ST- Vardy I like to see Marshall and Knockaert cutting inside as they look more dangerous then! And I also prefer Danns to James at the moment. 2-0 to city!
LCFC1985 Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Schmeichel RB- De laet CB- Moore CB- Morgan. Ric Flair Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 So it appears the 2 spots that are hotly contested are CM between Danns and James and upfront with either Nugent or Beckford partnering Vardy. What is Moore like at centre half? Purely a stop-gap or is he actually useful there? I rate him as a right back, I think he'll be very handy as back-up to De Laet this season.

I rate him as a right back, I think he'll be very handy as back-up to De Laet this season. Moore looked very good at centre half against Sunderland. Sunderland were poor, but he looked in control and was never really troubled. He won plenty of aerial battles - he certainly looks like a centre half. I'd be happy to see him start for us at CB in the league based on that performance.

Delighted to read that as I thought he looked very weak earlier in pre-season in that position. Myabe he's getting comfortable with the whole thing? Hope so. I think the more interesting piece of the jigsaw is the front 2, (which it probably will be!) Wonder if we'll learn more tomorrow night - will NP play the two for Saturday or the two that aren't going to play come Saturday ????
luke-b Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 4-3-3 Gk- kasp Lb- Konch Rb- de laet Cb - big wes Cb- moore Rcm- Marshall Cm-Danns Lcm- James Lcf- vardy Cf- beck ford Lcf - Nugent I like this formation as with the players we have it's very Interchangeable with knockaert can slot in in midfield or up top out wide same with Marshall and dyer. And in tighter games drinkwater / king can slot in to make it abit more solid.
kingfox Posted 13 August 2012 Posted 13 August 2012 Hard to pick, because I still think we could do with another centre back before Saturday, because Pearson is obviously looking if he wanted Gerrard. From the Sunderland game Im hoping we will line up something like this. GK - Schmeichel RB - De Laet CB - ??? CB - Morgan LB - Konchesky RM - Marshall CM - Drinkwater CM - James LM - Knockaert ST - Nugent ST - Vardy With the bench looking something like this - Logan, Moore, Kennedy, Danns, Dyer, Beckford, Futacs/Schlupp
