NewburyFox Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Although we created a couple of decent chances, Dyer's inparticular, the first half was poor and we couldn't deal with their hoof up to Kermo or their hoof into the channels for BWP to chase. It was like we didn't see it coming and didn't know how to deal with it. We gave away two sloppy goals, especially the second, and gave ourselves a mountain to climb in the second half. Beckford wasn't that bad but Nugent needed to come on, why he didn't start is beyond me. James had a poor half, not strong enough in the tackle and sloppy on the ball. The second half was so much better, we attacked with more urgency, used the ball with more purpose, got a goal back early on and I really thought we'd get that equaliser. A series of missed opportunites (Vardy, Dyer and Nugent the guilty culprits) meant that we didn't quite get that equaliser but the half in general showed a lot of promise. Shame that Marshall was fairly ineffective, in his defence he got the assist for Kingy's goal but he needs to be involved more. As others have said, he barely kicked it.Knockaert plays like a kid in a playground, he has a huge amount of raw talent and if nurtered correctly he could turn into a cracking player. I'm worried that on Saturday against Blackburn we'll be outmuscled and outnumbered in midfield if we play a standard 4-4-2. Despite King's two goals from sub appearances, I don't think he's the right player to start. I'd be more inclined to play Danns alongside Drinkwater, primarily because of his energy. Nugent must start, as does Knockaert. Vardy needs to adapt to this level, he has to improve his first touch and be more clinical infront of goal. He won't get loads of space and several chances infront of goal like in the BSP, he's missed two sitters in the last two games with his head and that can't happen at this level. All in all, if we learn from the negatives (sloppy defending primarily) and continue with the positives (the attacking threat and flair) and we'll be okay.
Thracian Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Ahhh here we go, I knew it wouldn't be long until the oppo were given credit for any of our good play. There's no question that Charlton sat back to defend their lead. BWP always had to be contained and they still remained a threat because of that but the vigorous counter attacks all but disappeared partly because they had something to protect but also because Leicester looked capable of running them ragged at times. King wasn't just a defensive midfielder either. He did some vital defending, yes, increased our aerial presence when we'd lost the ball and retained possession in the style of old but he also got forward enough to have had another decent and to play a part in any number of attacks. Our defence was never exposed second half only partly because King was back to his competent best, but also because Charlton committed fewer men forward and because they also had quite enough to do coping with what we were throwing at them. The game was lost last night for two simple reasons. The conceding of a second goal through some seriously sloppy defending that no manager could legislate for a goal that rocked our confiden ce for a while. And because we failed to convert easy chances that might have given us four or five goals on another night.
5waller5 Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 So, hands up who saw the game they're so busy commenting about... I didn't - on hols and not even able to get radio coverage - which is why I was posting to ask what we were like!!
5waller5 Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 And not the second where he let his team sit back eh. Sit back and win.
The People's Hero Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 I thought we looked pretty enterprising in the second half, just need to really sharpen up in times of finishing chances. Agree that Knockaert and King impressed. We'll see.
seenitall Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Yes he has. That doesn't mean he's not going to lose a game. We'll see how we respond at Blackburn. Hopefully you won't be here because we'll have won. Ahh diddums, Corky's favourite manager screwed up
Webbo Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Ahh diddums, Corky's favourite manager screwed up It must break your heart when we win.
seenitall Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 It must break your heart when we win. Fvck you - it must break your heart to have to admit that you will put up with any old shite that NP serves up and still have to pretend to be happy about it because you are a true supporter - grow up, Leicester City deserve better than this mid table tripe and I want us to win every game, or at least die trying

You moaned when Sven was sacked 3 points from the playoffs.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Didn't go on FT last night as was fearful of the kneejerk over reaction, I am not disappointed unfortunately after reading posts and counter posts it is apparant that a loss on Saturday could lead to a mass suicide! For those asking us fans "were you there?" etc no I wasn't and I could only listen to BBC RL so like to hear the opinions of those that were! It appears there were some big positives and we threw it away with a couple of errors in the 1st half although with opportunities created we could and should have got something out of the game. We are only two games in so no panic, NP will have noticed that the second half teams from both games had more impact so would imagine the rejuvinated Kingy, Knocky & Nuge will start on Saturday. Do not think there is any need for despair and with some tinkering, tweeking and players to get fit/come back we still will be there abouts IMO.
Corky Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Ahh diddums, Corky's favourite manager screwed up My favourite manager? Possibly, because he's our current one and I don't see the point of turning against him. He lost a game, it's going to happen. Hopefully we'll turn it around. And Webbo has it right, and it touched a nerve.
seenitall Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 We're only 1 point off the playoffs. You moaned when Sven was sacked 3 points from the playoffs. It was 2 points actually and contrary to the twaddle you want to believe, I was as unhappy as anyone was with Sven's return at the beginning of last season. I also don't really give a rats arse who the manager is as long as we're moving forwards. What in the living name of bejesus makes you think that we have moved forward since the Millwall home defeat last season?

He lost a game, it's going to happen. Hopefully we'll turn it around. And Webbo has it right, and it touched a nerve. Its the sanctimonious blind faith that touches a nerve and the belief that you can only support Leicester City if you toe the line and accept the shite it for what it is.
Burbage Fox Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Deja Vu win one lose one play poor in first half, much better in second half.. i feel i am living still in the 2011/12 season
Leicesterpool Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Yesterday as we pulled into the service station, the yorkshire cricket team pulled in next to our coach. Seen Ryan Sidebottom and the rest of team! Personally I thought we played okay yesterday, it's just clear we need an extra centre back. Even on a short loan would help, also one thing to mention can people stop moaning about Beckford, leave the guy alone! people are always knit picking him. I thought Wes Morgan was poor last night!
Bluetintedspecs Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Its the sanctimonious blind faith that touches a nerve and the belief that you can only support Leicester City if you toe the line and accept the shite it for what it is. How about looking at it in another way Seenitall........some people see the glass half empty etc , you appear to revel in the teams failures and accuse people of having sanctimnonious blind faith which is insulting their beliefs/hopes.Your views are valid as that is what you feel. I would personally describe them as deliberately antagonistic though I fully accept that is my opinion not fact. Two games in I think neither camp can have any sound basis to their argument. let's chill eh

Fox92 Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 I've just seen the highlights. Poor really. Nobody closed down Wright-Phillps, and I'm pretty sure Kasper could have got something on the shot, it's like he didn't dive to his maximum capability. The second goal was generally poor defending, as Pearson said.

Daggers Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 ........some people see the glass half empty Then they are fools as the remaining half of the glass will contain air particles - unless there were a seal placed on the surface of the liquid which could remain in place while the entire glass was placed into a vacuum chamber. Even then, evacuating the half of the glass completely would be a very expensive procedure, and one which could only be done at certain sites due to the machine requirements.
