Guppy Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 They've made it up. Attitude or not, it's not the major issue here. He's had plenty of chances under Pearson and hasn't taken them. Pearson will want us to defend from the front, and it's pretty difficult to do that when he's got the touch of a rapist. We shouldn't need to change our style of play to suit him, whatever that would be. This is win-win as far as i'm concerned. a) he does well for them = we sell and get him off the wage bill b) he's not = we have had him (or a %) of his wages off the wage bill for a season
marko Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Look at the teams that are promoted from this division, they had much higher calibre strikers on the bench than we've got now. Utter dross. Reading had Le Fondre - who incidentally wasn't proven at this level like Vardy - Church and Hunt. They're hardly world beaters. Also everyone moaning about we need 20 goal a season, blah, blah, blah, moan, moan, moan, bitch, bitch, bitch - Reading who won the league had a top scorer with 12 goals!!!
Kitchandro Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 If he was Nigel's first choice striker for the season then Pearson wouldn't have loaned him out, don't be stupid, it's not like we're being forced to loan him out. Beckford shouldn't be ahead of Nugent, Nugent/Beckford was awful, our highest earner can't remain on the bench. The solution is to let him go clearly. It's hardly the end of the world, he's not been incredible for us, his record in the Championship is pretty poor. No big deal. It really wasn't. I think you're forgetting the second half of last season on purpose. Though 09/10 is very fresh in your memory as if it was necessary. However it was 3 years ago and Waghorn isn't the same player.
Libertine Dream Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 So what we've managed to do is send out a striker out on loan, probably paying some of the wage, to another Championship side and left ourselves with Vardy and Nugent with a back up of overrated Schlupp, Waghorn who can't score in pre match shooting let alone a match and Futacs. Unless a striker is coming in what was the point? We cant score goals as it is and this doesnt help in any way.
wurmer Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 They've made it up. Your head is so far up Beckfords arse, you can see Bilbos shoes..
Lambert09 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 First time i've doubted Pearsons judgement. I accepted letting bamba go. I stood by when he froze out Mills and tried to do the same with st ledger, but this is one makes me livid. I pray this turns out to be the right thing to do and not just DJ Campbell all over again. Lets face it though we all know it will be
5waller5 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 I will genuinely have a bet with anyone (money sent to charity) that Beckford will finish higher in the goal scoring charts than Nugent & Vardy. I agree, and he'll get more than Waghorn and Futacs combined.
foxesfan1989 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 So has this been confirmed? Has he actually gone? Nope, just from twitter at the moment. We should probably all over-react when its confirmed if thats the route we are going down...
Mark_w Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 It really wasn't. I think you're forgetting the second half of last season on purpose. Though 09/10 is very fresh in your memory as if it was necessary. However it was 3 years ago and Waghorn isn't the same player. It really wasn't great, they maybe had a good few weeks, but neither benefited from the partnership. I personally don't think it ogt the best out of either, they never really clicked, and it didn't feel like together they were going to be anything like a prolific strikeforce, it's just my opinion, but I really don't think a strikeforce that in my opinion failed last year should be tried again just because Foxes Talk is obssesed with Beckford.
Tom17LCFC Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 King Beckford's gone then? Fvck me calm down, much better players we could have lost. Beckford's done fvck all for us since he's been here and shown no signs that he's changed so far this season.

Also everyone moaning about we need 20 goal a season, blah, blah, blah, moan, moan, moan, bitch, bitch, bitch - Reading who won the league had a top scorer with 12 goals!!! The difference is that they had goals throughout the team. Le Fondre, Hunt, Church, Roberts, McAnuff, Pearce and Leigertwood all scored 5 or more in the league last season. For us, only Nugent, Beckford, Gallagher, and Danns managed it and we've just shipped one of those players out. We don't have goals throughout the team unfortunately, which is why we need a goalscorer to replace Beckford asap.

Lets face it though we all know it will be DJ Campbell was a good deal, lowered the wage bill slightly, was never going to get the goals for us in the system we played, didn't lead Blackpool to finish above us, never directly effected us.

I disagree. I remember even though the rest of the team didn't look great, I thought the most positive thing at one point was their partnership was looking really good. Both were scoring goals and linking up nicely, the goals at Watford and Norwich are good examples.
Guest Bilo Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Your head is so far up Beckfords arse, you can see Bilbos shoes.. Or maybe I'm choosing to listen to the people who've met Beckford or worked with him, rather than my own blinkered preconceptions.
marty78 Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Even though it is yet to be confirmed, why do people presume that Pearson is solely responsible for him moving?
Jace Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 When are people going to realise you can't just buy a striker and expect him to bang in goals, it takes time to adapt and learn how to play with the people around you. If you keep chopping and changing who you are playing with and are not given a chance you are not going to score many goals
Brauny Fox Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 So what we've managed to do is send out a striker out on loan, probably paying some of the wage, to another Championship side and left ourselves with Vardy and Nugent with a back up of overrated Schlupp, Waghorn who can't score in pre match shooting let alone a match and Futacs. Bilbo Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Your head is so far up Beckfords arse, you can see Bilbos shoes.. Haha look at the keyboard warrior. I bet you give s*** to our team during games because you know the players can't do anything about it but in reality you're just a little girl.
Kitchandro Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 DJ Campbell was a good deal, lowered the wage bill slightly, was never going to get the goals for us in the system we played, didn't lead Blackpool to finish above us, never directly effected us. Now, this, I agree with.
Believe! Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 Beckford doesnt have an ego problem?? No-one seen his comments on twitter to QPR fans about how small time they are, and that he can play for bigger clubs than QPR. Okay Jermaine. 9 goals does not justify 40k a week.
NewburyFox Posted 31 August 2012 Posted 31 August 2012 In my eyes, Beckford wasn't much better in the second half of the season and won't be missed. He had a good run from mid-January to mid-March where he notched nearly all his goals, but I think he went on to score 1 goal in the last 9 games, or something similar. Can't understand the love in here, he had a rubbish season and has one of the worst first touches I've ever seen. We're getting our 3rd choice striker who is on ridiculous wages off the wage bill (although what percentage of it remains to be seen) and will probably shift him on next summer to recoup a fair chunk of what we originally spent on him. Although I have concerns over the depth, like most people, I don't think Beckford is any great loss.
