I'm pointing out the fact that the 9 goals he scored last season, while not seeming an impressive total, will be difficult to replace. We did not have enough goalscorers in the team last season, so shipping one out is a disappointing decision for a club with ambitions of promotion.

Now I agree that we should expect to have more than four players with five or more by the end of the season. You'd expect a fit and on form Marshall to be knocking on the door of double figures, possibly Knockaert as well, and King and Vardy should also weigh in with a few.

That's the point though. 'Should expect' is not the same as 'will.' Beckford playing week in week out would have scored double figures this season when settled, no doubt in my mind about that. His departure puts unnecessary pressure on team-mates. If you look at Knockaert, he's in a new country and new style of football where even he admitted he was surprised by the pace. He looks to be an excellent player and I'm sure he's a great talent, but he may take time to adjust.

Vardy was playing against Hayes & Yeading and Grimsby Town last season, he will almost certainly take time to adjust to this division. For every performance like the one at Blackburn where he looked outstanding, there will be others where he looks out of his depth for the first couple of months till he finds his feet. King has a tendency to go missing from time to time, in spite of his excellent scoring rate a season or two back, and a few on here are disappointed not to see Gallagher go.

We can still replace him with a loan from the Premier League, let's not forget that. Who knows, we might find someone like Waghorn again who came from the PL and scored double figures in his first season, and with Nigel's eye for young players, it a distinct possibility.

I understand what you're saying about Vardy, but the same applied to Adam Le Fondre, who unproven, came from League 2 and became their top scorer.

That Tweet shows it isn't a permanent deal, which we knew anyway.

Inclined to listen to Fourth Official and accept it's a loan deal.

He tweeted it like it had happened now. My feeling is that he thought he had, and now it hasn't, he will wait it out and hope it does to spare any red faces.

Its immaterial if its happened tonight or not, as soon as the loan window re-opens it will go through

The loan window is only for short term loans. Season long loans have to be done in the transfer window

Don't want Beckford to go but I think the Nugent - Vardy partnership is more than capable.

Add to that Futacs, and the 'not good enough but ok' pair of Waghorn and Schlupp.

Hammill is only on loan there though so they surely would have mentioned it

Could be we were trying to get a replacement in before letting him go and ran out of time, so the deal was done but had to be called off?

I will give up for the season if that wad the case. Itd be fine for him to score 6 cup goals and 9 league goals, everyone on here would think it wonderful.

It would, because heskey always has more assists than goals, so if he had that record he would have over 15 assists aswell.

Unless i have missed a point Prem teams can loan between each other.

Benayoun has joined W.ham on loan from Chelsea for e.g.

Loans between Premier League clubs have to be in the transfer window.

So how has Danny Rose gone on loan to Sunderland?

Deals were arranged prior to the transfer deadline... Anything after 11pm today you can't.

Yes, yes very funny. £25,000-£30,000 is a lot for a player who has never got into double figures outside League One.
