Finnegan Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Scotland even finished above Wales. We beat them twice. Comfortably.
Corky Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Scotland even finished above Wales. Great news for the Scots and LargeAl.
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 We beat them twice. Comfortably. They finished above you though..
Finnegan Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 They finished above you though.. I'm aware. All banter aside, our qualifying campaign has been a joke. The amount of withdrawals from the national side has hit all time highs, performances have been largely tame and the organization at the back has been shambolic. Coleman's position would be untenable if we had an association with any degree of money at all to invest an international quality manager. A team with the like of Bale and Ramsey backed up by solid, premiership players in Collins, Williams, Allen, Bellamy et all should be comfortably competing with the Croatias and Serbias of this world for second place in this group. Instead they're all withdrawing and we're fighting Macedonia for the wooden spoon in front of ten thousand people in Cardiff's second stadium. Stupid, really.

Fair play mate.
shen Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Did Kasper have a lot to do tonight, shen? Diddly squat. A very convincing performance by the team and a great last ditch tackle by Delaney denying Mifsud a 1-on-1, meant Kasper only made one save of note where he chose to box a pretty good shot from 40 yards over for a corner. His distribution was flawless and quick. Played it short to our centerbacks and fullbacks with the occasional throw and punt to our wingers. He hit a red shirt every single time. Peter Schmeichel is the new pundit on Danish TV and he was smiling from ear to ear tonight.
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 How did Agger play Shen, minus his two strikes from 12 yards?

Donut Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Any ideas of seedings for the world cup, with the qualified, and likely to qualify teams? Im already thinking of the good group/group of death scenario
shen Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 How did Agger play Shen, minus his two strikes from 12 yards? He's a great penalty taker!! And he was largely untroubled and bossed Mifsud for the most part. One offside trap went wrong between him and Bjelland (only 5th time they play together), which let Mifsud through on a 1-on-1 which makeshift leftback Delaney averted. Other than that, he was his usual commanding self, bringing the ball forward and occasionally ending up on the wing. Shows great authority on and off the field for Denmark. Good stuff. Hope he's got his confidence fully back ahead of Saturday. He already mentioned ahead of the Italy game, where Danish media had obviously picked up on his own goal, that he was already past that. Said something along the lines of 'it happens, but I don't dwell on these things'. This was his first ever senior game on Danish soil, and despite playing in front of a paltry crowd, the fact his daddy was as proud as can be will have done him the world of good.
Dan Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 Correct me if I'm wrong, there are 9 groups, so the lowest number of points per game (I say PPG because of France in group I only playing 8 games rather than 10) 2nd placed side doesn't get into the play-offs? In this case, it's Denmark? That must be a truly devastating way to go out, being bottom of 9. So the 8 play-off teams... Portugal, France, Croatia, Iceland, Ukraine, Greece, Sweden & Romania, I'd love to see Portugal draw France
Guest MattP Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 Superb game between Uruguay and Argentina on at min. 3-2 to the pig strokers just after half time
Guest MattP Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 The Yanks have just saved the Mexicans in the last minute.
Jordan Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 The Yanks have just saved the Mexicans in the last minute. That was ****ing unbelievable. That was it, it was done, over, finished. Then Graham Zusi scores this ridiculous header in stoppage time, and "son of Alabama" Aron Jóhansson wins it with a 20-yard blast just seconds later! It was mayhem at the Estadio Rommel Fernández heading into stoppage time and the whole place completely went quiet. Panama's players were celebrating on the sidelines, then they were left crying on the field two minutes later. The Mexican players (in their ridiculous new kits) looked completely ****ing embarrassed about the whole thing when they were walking off the field in Costa Rica
Tom17LCFC Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 That sounded absolutely insane, had the live scores coming through and saw Mexico were heading out and Panama through before USA bagging twice in a minute, unbelievable.
Finnegan Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 Oh and one for Lofty, Harry Wilson becomes our youngest ever cap some hundred and eight days younger than Bale. Oh, that makes him Liverpool's youngest ever full international, by the way. Previously Sterling.

Mexico will surely be a lot more competitive at the WC.
Alf Bentley Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 Superb game between Uruguay and Argentina on at min. 3-2 to the pig strokers just after half time "Pig strokers"?! What are Argentina known as - the corned beef molesters? The Yanks have just saved the Mexicans in the last minute. 4.24 a.m.? When do you ever go to bed? I thought that I was bad enough, posting bullshit at 1 a.m. I understand Jordan being here, as he's in a different time zone. You must be in a different mind zone, Matt. Sounds like an unbelievable finish, though. Awful night to be Panamanian...and an embarrassing one to be Mexican - getting rescued by the "Yankee imperialists" at the death is probably more embarrassing than if they'd been knocked out.
Jordan Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 Huge shame for Panama - always love to see the relative minnows qualify for the WC. Mexico will surely be a lot more competitive at the WC. It really was... Now, at first, I was all for USA to do Panama a solid just to be dicks about Mexico. But TBH, I was thrilled to see such a stunning comeback, I feel like there's no way in my heart I could root for the USA to lose. That said, it was a shame to see Panama's hearts broken like that. Panama is like the Venezuela of Central America: a baseball country, but one whose national soccer team has made tremendous strides in recent years and has gotten the country to rally around them. Panama has risen from a doormat to a team that has been banging on the door over the past 8 years, but the bigger boys in CONCACAF just won't let them in. Also, consider this: up until the 85th minute on Friday night vs Mexico, Panama was in fourth place as it stood... until THIS happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPh2nPfUZXc AND THEN they still got back up to fourth place as it stood IN STOPPAGE TIME tonight! It cannot get any crueler than this... I have a lot of respect for Panama and the way they punch above their weight. And in case they took the clock took even longer to strike midnight on their Cinderella story, I would have looked forward to Samuel L. Jackson playing both Julio and Jorge Dely Valdes in the Disney movie about the team!
Finnegan Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 Is he the lad who England were allegedly trying to poach? Apparently but it could just be a non story. Allegedly that's why we called him up. He's Wrexham born and bred to Welsh parents. Ironically, I read he has an English grandparent haha! If there's any truth in it then it's probably a positive sign but at 16 who knows? He didn't even have a Wikipedia entry until this week!
MC Prussian Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 That sounded absolutely insane, had the live scores coming through and saw Mexico were heading out and Panama through before USA bagging twice in a minute, unbelievable. Mexico vs. New Zealand now. Tasty affair. Note to Chris Wood: bang them in, son.
MC Prussian Posted 16 October 2013 Posted 16 October 2013 And Uruguay scrape through to the playoffs once more. Would be a shame not having them at the World Cup next year. They can only fail against Jordan now.
