Soar Fox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 I've just been asked this question by a bloke at work. You've had a bet and you only need one team to win. The returns are a £100 but the team you need to win are playing against Leicester. Would you rather Leicester win and get no money Or Leicester lose and you get a £100
Tom17LCFC Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Tough one. If it was a huge game I'd go for the Leicester win, but if it was a crap game with absolutely nothing to play for (Burnley home last season), I'd take the £100.
Mark_w Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Leicester win. However, if it was a cup game in a competition we had no chance of winning or both relegation and promotion had already been determined, whilst I would still be supporting Leicester, I can't say I'd be devestated if we lost.
Jimothy Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 I've purposely never betted against Leicester so I don't end up in this situation.
Bayfox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 to be honest I quite often bet against us to sweeten the mood if we lose and normally I'm happy to take the hit, but i'm talking a fiver or tenner here and there, very little in the grand scheme of things and 3 points are well worth the loss. So I guess it depends on the outlay, I very rarely back us to win or on a goals galore, as I hate it when it's my own club that lets me down. Cue being shot down in flames for not being very loyal.
indierich06 Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Never bet against your own team, that's the golden rule. I'd obviously rather Leicester won, especially in a big game, but if we lost I'm sure the £100 would console me. But then again, I never bet on or against Leicester - they always seem to let me down one way or another when money is involved.
ozleicester Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 City win every time thanks, I guess the next question is... how much would it need to be to make you change your mind. Of course the answers will depend on relevance of the game.... so perhaps lets say its next week against Boro, how much would it need to be for you to hope for a Boro win ?
Webbo Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 As others have said I'd never bet against Leicester (or England).
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 What about £1000? Would loyalty to your football team come first then? Tough one. Suppose it depends at the time how much you need the money. Call me disloyal if you want but I think I would have to go for the money.
accessory Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 So some Foxestalk posters think more of money than their own club. Who'd have thought it?
Samilktray Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Money. Leicester getting 3 points isn't benefitting me.
Charl91 Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 I would quite like £100. A months worth of food for me. Depends what the game/stakes are to be honest.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 As others have said, I never bet against Leicester but if I was forced to it depends on the game. Boro next week and my current situation? I'd take the cash. I would never let this tribal and blinkered attitude that football fans have about being a "proper" fan cloud my judgement. I'm my world you have to do what's best for number 1.
AyewJoking Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Judging by my betting history, Leicester would beat Barcelona if I had money on us to lose.
Corky Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Leicester win. And I wouldn't bet against my own team, would rather bet on another game if I wanted to.
glenny_fox Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 For £100.. Leicester win every time, but as other posters have said, you couldn't really say until you knew the relavance of the match. If it was the next match against boro then city win.
marty78 Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 I always ignore City on any coupon. It's bad enough losing without it costing (more) money and I would never bet against us out of principle.
Guest MattP Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 Never bet against your own team, that's the golden rule. But then again, I never bet on or against Leicester - they always seem to let me down one way or another when money is involved. If you are a gambler the golden rule is the opposite. Backing against your club it means your head is generally overuling your heart and deep down most football fans know when their club is at it's weakest and will probably lose a match. I had a massive bet on us to lose at Peterboro when we lost 2-0 in League One when we had half a team out and Boro had won about 8 on the trot. Wasn't that bothered,we were already up.
Zingari Posted 26 September 2012 Posted 26 September 2012 So some Foxestalk posters think more of money than their own club. Who'd have thought it? Don't be so sniffy , everyone has they're price . what if it was £1000 , or £10,000 ?
