Let's Have a Statement From The Thais About Pearson's Job Being Safe

And to think it was only a few games ago everyone was calling for Pearson out!

Long season ahead so let's just go with the flow and see where things are come Jan.

Not one word from the Thais ....

From all I've read so far they come out of this as shallow, cowardly, disloyal and unsupportive.

There never was any sort of crisis this season, not even when we had some bad results, as was plain to see for anyone not looking through jaundiced eyes. And Pearson's handling of Mills, Beckford and Danns was admirable.

Pearson's matchday approach had changed markedly, if not completely, and we were playing the best and most entertaining football seen from a City team in years.

Even the manner of such defeats we suffered was affected by things no manager could have done anything about - like goals being unfairly disallowed or otherwise in-form strikers missing from a few feet or having goalkeeper's bring off unlikely saves.

There was never one occasion his season when we went out on the pitch - home or away - and didn't play with pace, style and commitment and when we didn't threaten to tear the opposition to shreds at times.

And did the Thais put their metaphoric arms around Pearson's shoulders and say "Don't worry - you're on the right track now and the results will come with a bit of patience....?

No their money mattered more to them than their consciences. And so they sneaked out into the night, held or sanctioned their secret meetings and, like a slimy cesspit of turncoat politicians, they planned to stab their already wounded manager in the back even as he lay there all-but helpless on the battlefield.

And so he would have been faithlessly left to his indignity but for the fortitude, determination and sheer resolve of his players who kept believing in what they were doing and who finally found the good fortune to go with all that their sometimes fabulous football deserved.

And do the Thais even now have the honestly, humility and decency to say "sorry, we were wrong," and to beg for forgiveness? No, they prefer to sit silently in their offices - presumably seething at their treachery being exposed and their manager making a mug of them, while pretending that nothing amiss has taken place.

And does it matter? Well, I wonder. Will Pearson go on to give us promotion, rise above it all and, like the man he undoubtedly is, show the loyalty to his players that they deserve should their journey take them into the Premiership.

Or will he vengefully move on and eventually take some of those players with him while leaving our once seemingly respectable club suffering the further humility of another unnecessary and self-imposed implosion.

Part of me would love to think the Thais could sell out and crawl off home to their duty free shops and scrub the floors in their shame for a while.

But it won't happen - certainly not the floor scrubbing - and even if it did we'd doubtless get someone else of the same ilk or another Mandaric to sully the corridors of our once fine and seemingly respectable club.

And, being fair, the Thais haven't been all bad for our club, and certainly not in spirit. They've set some standards and tried, if not always successfully, to follow up on their promises.

But I suppose the financial achievers of this world will always say that being professionally ruthless is what allows them to park their gleaming limousines around their business empires - or outside our ground - and proclaim "See, we're better than you".

But whenever I've looked at such symbols of privilege I've always wondered "who's had to be trodden on to put that there."

And they sure need to apologise for treading on Pearson. He simply didn't deserve it.

I hope they do apologise and I also hope it's accepted wholeheartedly so that both parties can learn something from what has happened.

Pearson's made mistakes so it really shouldn't be hard for him to accept regret for the mistakes of others.

And theThais should learn something about being straightforward and about not being too hasty in making judgements instead of seeing what can be done first from within. they might end up better respected - as well as more successful - in the end.

How do you know they haven't spoken to NP in private to ensure him of their suppport?

Who wanted him out?

Maybe the Thais just haven't wanted to dignify the bullshit with a response. No issue, no need to act on issue. If they and Pearson are getting along just wonderful and they both know it, why would there be any need to make a statement about it?

You reckon. One poster mentions an employee who was at the club under another manager knowing of Rednapp being contacted twice. its hearsay I know but along with other comments and the reaction of Rednapp himself (in letting Paul Jewell know he wasn't after his job) what you say isn't convincing.

But put yourself in the Thais position. With your team and manager doing great wouldn't you just come out with something along the lines of:

"In view of wholly mischievous speculation, the owners of Leicester City would like to make it unambiguously clear that we have not approached Harry Redknapp or anyone else to take over from our manager Nigel Pearson. Mr Pearson is doing a wonderful job and it is our fervent wish that he continues in that vein and as an employee of our club, for many seasons to come."

They weren't here when he left last time.

Thai's weren't officially in charge, but they were going through the process & coincidentally NP left the day after AFI was formed.

Coincidence? Yeah, right!

They've wanted someone with star power right from the beginning, with this continuing nonsense it's clear they're still prioritising duty free sales over the good of the footballing side of the club.

Slightly over the top when you consider there is no proof for any of this as of yet. :P

There is one thing the Thai's could do that would speak louder than any words, extend Pearson's contract (Newcastle style). Okay maybe not for 8 years, but a 1 or 2 year extension for him and his staff would quickly nip all of this in the bud.

Him and Nigel are not sure what to believe about whether a meeting with Redknapp happened or not.

The long and short of it, they would like the owners to clear this up in some way, without it appearing as the dreaded vote of confidence.

He said no matter what Nigel will keep fighting to get results, and this has only made him stronger.

This doesn't sound great.

Exactly, it's clear this is starting to become unsettling the longer it's allowed to go on.

I forgot to say, he did say he thought this was an old story from before the Burnley game that has now for some reason only just come out (in the last few days), and despite the latest results wont seem to go away.

Right all, corny I know but I urge people of this forum to make banners or signs saying "Pearson In" if he is the right man (which a lot of people believe) than we should publicly back our manager!

Posted

Personally I think Nigel will stay. However if something is going to happen, it will happen after the Bristol game to allow the new manager two weeks to bed in before the next game. So if Pearson is still here after that, he'll be staying IMO. :fc:

The owners would be stupid to get rid of Pearson and bring in Redknapp, I don't think it will happen and the sooner Redknapp gets a job the better.

You see it is an issue. If the rumours are going on for this long and no one is denying them it becomes more serious than just wild rumours. Even there's absolutely no truth in them, it's unsettling and unfair.

That is why the Thais need to come out and say something. As Thrac says a lack of trust can only backfire on us like it has done before.

Id be surprise if Harry wants or needs any managerial job TBH(other than the england situation).Bit of TV punditry, golf, celebrity circuit.

Cant imagine he has a mortgage to worry about.

But as said any changes at any clubs will probably be straight after the weekend

It worries me that Redknapp himself hasn't even denied the rumour, he was quick to rule himself out of the Forest and Ipswich jobs. :/

I'm a bit more worried after listening to Talksport, seems Pearson himself isn't completely sure on the situation. And now you have just said that it makes me even more worried. Everyone needs to be chanting Pearsons name on Saturday...
