Burbage Fox Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 I rate Konch very highly ...... But i LOVE the thought of Schlupp and Lloyd terrorising oppositions with their pace .... they would frighten teams before the game starts - it gives us a psychological advantage and gets them worrying about a threat before a ball is kicked. Schlupp. Agree with every word
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 At the moment Id carry on with Schlupp, no need to change it this
Corky Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Konchesky doesn't just hoof it when he crosses the halfway line, for me he's one of the players who tries to vary his distribution.
GingerrrFox Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 I've already had it from my mates "What did you think was gonna happen playing a striker at left back?", "Strikers don't play left back for a reason, they can't tackle!". I've even had Leicester fans saying Schlupp deserves to be dropped for giving away a penalty...Rubbish. By that reasoning Zak Whitbread should have been dropped a long time ago. Red card and penalties galore. The giving away of the penalty is the first thing Schlupp has done wrong at left back, dropping him now would kill his confidence and he looks a genuinely good player at left back. IMO I see his future as a top quality left back than a striker. Leave the lad alone, he's 19, he's bound to make some mistakes. The upside on him is much more than any downsides.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Are you not preaching to the converted on here?
Mack Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 As cover ok he's not great in defence but there's an argument. If Konch is fit there can be none. And I fully expect the change to be made for this weekend's game.
Kitchandro Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Are you not preaching to the converted on here? Not really, there's certainly been a few people who have lost faith in him already, probably just because he's young. He was performing well before last night and he's definitely got talent. Konchesky wasn't exactly pulling up trees at the start of the season, there's no reason we should write Schlupp off after a bad game.

Guest MattP Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 No sensible reason as to why he is in front of Konchesky in my opinion, he's a prospect but mistakes like his will cost us, his positioning is nowhere near good enough either. I don't blame the kid though, he's a striker as far as I'm concerned, he was progressing well until Sven came along and seemed to want to shift him to left-back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Sven who gave Schlupp his debut as a striker and continued to play him there until he was sacked. I'm sure the first time he played left back was in this pre-season and against Blackpool this season and then progressed in that position for the last few games.
Mack Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 I don't remember anyone saying this before last night. What has Konch done to prove he's a mile better than Schlupp this season? And I cant believe there can be any other opinion. Konchesky is a premier league class left back.
Haydos Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 And I cant believe there can be any other opinion. Konchesky is a premier league class left back. Really? Why didn't you voice your concerns before last night, Captain Hindsight?
Carl the Llama Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 I don't remember anyone saying this before last night. What has Konch done to prove he's a mile better than Schlupp this season? Before last night eh? Schlupp's been incredible so far and clearly has the added danger of pace, but Konch has more solidity, more goals in him, and the extra experience which is invaluable in a team pushing for promotion. Can see Schlupp maturing into a key player if he can keep this up.
harpendenfox Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 I rather felt last night it would have been sensible to bring Konch on as the third sub with 20 minutes or so to go, and move Schlupp up front with Futacs. He looks good and skillful going forward does Schlupp, and having had a few games at the back, hopefully has had sufficient game time to make an impression. I think Nige is a super manager, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure what he sees in Lingaard. Presumably the lad will return to United shortly in any event. OK he's only had fleeting appearances thus far, but he seems to be rather lightweight for rumbustous first team Championship football. So if Nuge is unfit for Saturday (and about that Nuge, get yourself back on the pitch please), let's give Schlupp a start up front with Waghorn, with Konch restored to LB

Yes it was .... and Schlupp seemed to play well for Sven ..... But this is FT and therefore Sven is to blame.

I think Sven did use him as a LB on occasion though ... I've got a feeling he was no stranger to that position in his earlier career.
teblin Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Schlupp up top instead of vardy and Konchesky at left back?
5waller5 Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Schlupp up top instead of vardy Waghorn (blazes over) and Konchesky at left back? Corrected!!!
Danno Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Schlupp up top instead of vardy and Konchesky at left back? Agree!
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 I can see Konchesky coming back next game. He lost his head last night after the penalty
Mack Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Really? Why didn't you voice your concerns before last night, Captain Hindsight? I did. Although they are not concerns, but more just stating the fact that Schlupp is an emergency back up at best.
Mark_w Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Corrected!!! You think Waghorn has been worse than Vardy in recent weeks...?
berniethebolt Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 Schlupp has done superb but konchesky is the first choice for me. Schlupp had stated his claim as more than just cover though although I suspect he facies his main position as a forward.
5waller5 Posted 28 November 2012 Posted 28 November 2012 You think Waghorn has been worse than Vardy in recent weeks...? Up until last night it was a close call between the two .... but I have seen enough of Waghorn (blazes over) to know that he's not good enough..... i haven't seen enough of Vardy to make that decision.
