Schlupp or Konchesky

Recommended Posts

At the minute schlupp has been able to make up for his lack of experience with his pace, as he gains experience he will get better and better. He looks solid already so imagine when he has more experience at lb. Konchesky has had a decent season but schlupp offers more going forwards too!

why would he get rid of him when we have no cover in that department, its not as if Konch has fell out with NP

A January move might be the idea... get a big wage earner off the wage bill and get someone else in, of course...

We were playing Ipswich, the side with the worst attack and leakiest defence in the league, lets not get carried away.

lol

Valid point!

I'd keep Schlupp, for me he's not really put a foot wrong in the last couple of games. His first game at LB he was out of positon a few times but hes seems to have quickly fixed that and now looks like he's played LB all his life. Wouldn't do his confidence much good if he got taken out after doing so well.

I think Konchesky will come back but until Schupp has a bad game I'd keep him there. Sooner or later I could see him splitting games with Konch.

Schlupp - great against Forest and decent yesterday. The LB cameo against Blackpool was also excellent. Good competition there but the Schlupp Lloyd combo wins for me.

Konchesky with out a shadow of a doubt his experience is crucial, Schlupp needs more time to develop but he is more than competent replacement to fill in when Konchesky is out of form/suspension or injured.

Personally schlupp because he looks comfortable and has pace

But Konch has played there a long time and his experience is vital and believe that rotation is good

So schlupp should keep his place until he has a bad game simple

At the moment Schlupp but Konch would be 1st choice for the season.

Still want to see Schlupp end up as a forward or a winger

Konchesky - he's an international defender and there will be games where his experience will be invaluable - Schlupp lomg term successor though.

Schlupp.

Main objections to him are

(1) Only played against poor teams/wingers. Not true, he played excellently against the very good wingers of a (at the time) table-topping Blackpool

(2) He is inexperienced. The only way to improve that is to give him more game time, and the best time to do that is while his confidence & performance are high..

As soon as he looks to be a weakness, or if there are specific reasons for a particular opposition, then Konch can be brought back in.

Has to be Konch, lets not get carried away after a few games and lose all perspective. I'm really happy we have Schlupp as back up, he is clearly more than adequate but Konchs experience will show in the big games and he will be key to getting promoted this season.

Never understood the love fest by the fans towards Konchesky, he is nothing special, fairly slow and cumbersome and his distribution is poor. I think is its because he did not get on at Forest.

Schlupp may not have his experience but makes up for it in so many ways with his pace and is much more composed and will only get better, we have to leave him in and I would be looking to offload Konchesky as I think he is a weak link.

No disrespect to Konch but it seems our defense has played been more solid since Konch has been away. So maybe keep Schlupp in and put Konch on the bench.

I actually think If Jeff sat down with Nigel and put his full focus into being a LB and decided that would be the new position for him... then it might be worth sticking with him as he would be focusing all his efforts into that position then we would have a beast of a LB for a couple of years... I say a couple of years because i am sure he would be on to bigger and better things...

At the moment Schlupp. no reason to drop him, him and dyer look decent together! maybe for the the tougher away days put Konch cause of his experience.

Plus Konch is 31 now so now is the best time to develop Schlupp to a decent LB! and can learn alot from Konch.
