Captain... Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Don't think we have concede while Schlupp has been at left back, although I could be wrong, so his defensive inexperience haven't cost us. I think we stick with him until it looks like he is getting done over and then sub in konch at half time, but so far has barely put a foot wrong at the back, which is more than I can say konch this season.

Conceded against Forest, first one being down his side of the pitch too (although I don't think it was his fault particularly). Have to say, I think he's been brilliant. The amount of tackles he won at Bolton was cracking. Not many young strikers these days would slot straight in at left-back without a problem, great attitude and potential. Oh, AND people always say he's a striker playing at left-back but he played left wing nearly every time I saw him for the Academy, when he first broke into the Under 18 side.

That goal was Whitbread's fault, he went chasing the ball leaving a simple 2 on 1 for Forest. Been quite impressed with Schlupp's composure at LB.

Good point for some reason I forgot about the forest match, but yeah not entirely his fault but he could probably have done better on that one, and Zak
Bluetintedspecs Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Can't see NP dropping Schlupp as he's played well and konch's injury is hamstring which is best trated with caution and eased back in! What a great problem to have
James_lcfc Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 He's been superb, be an absolute travesty if he's dropped.
enex Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 For me schlupp all the way, bags of pace running down that left flank can also get back quickly links up well with Dyer. I've been impressed with his defending and a fraction of the cost in wages as konch is on liverpool money. schlupp is one for the future
Spiritwalker Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Konch is one of the top 5 left backs in the division for me. However I would definately stick with Schlupp as I think he has the potential to be a prem class left back if he decides to make the switch.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Schlupp. An extra, incredibly valuable, attacking option, and because Konchesky has been slightly less reliable lately. Wouldn't feel bad if Konchesky came back, but Schlupp is a more exciting prospect on match days...
Father Ted Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 I'm getting more and more excited by Schlupp at left back. I may sound extremely idiotic and biased here but I think he could play for a top 4 club sooner or later at left back. He has pretty much everything. Pace, strength, good in the air, strong in the tackle, good positioning, excellent crossing, great darting runs going forward, good passing, stays on his feet and a fantastic attitude. Is there much missing? Pearson's found a real diamond here.
Saxondale Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 I'd like to see Jeff have a crack up front, even if just off the bench. We seem to have all forgotten that he's also a superb attacker.
Mark_w Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 I don't see how this is different to any other position, while a defender is doing well and we're keeping clean-sheets he should stay in the team. No reason to bring Konchesky back until Jeff stops performing.
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 For me the difference is pace. We now have two really quick full backs which enable us to counter attack with purpose. It's no surprise to me we are looking better away from home with Schlupp in the side. I'd keep him there. He has all the makings of an excellent left back. For the first time in years really we look like a side who can impose our game onto the opposition. I like it.
Ashley Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Left midfield anyone ? Instead of Dyer? Marshall or Knockaert? No.

Don't know if I'd go that far mate - he's got a ratio of one goal in every 8 games for us in the league. I think he's been infinitely better for us as a defender than he has been as an attacker.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Instead of Dyer? Marshall or Knockaert? No. I just thought I should put it out there

Kitchandro Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 I think we should keep Konch and play him in the.....oops wrong thread.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 I'd rather shag neither of them you sick fvck but if I had to choose I'd go with Konch for those eyes!! I bet inside him is so soft and warm.
dynamark Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Schlupp no offence to Konch.jeff will be a solid player for someone, long time.never beaten for pace stays on his feet comfortable further up the pitch on either foot, quick footabll brain, solid physically, all he has to do is continue his progress noticeable how he lets whitbread come for the headers and covers.I honestly believe he should make that position his own and the team will see the benefit. If we make the prem he is more than capable of keeping that slot.
cc_star Posted 27 November 2012 Posted 27 November 2012 Schlupp - everyday of the week and twice on matchdays! Schlupp + the hardworking Dyer is a potent combination which enables us to be very mobile on the left. Schlupp has proved himself at the back & he gets forward far better than Konch who seemed to keen to hoof it once he crossed the halfway line. Would like to see the results of Dyer on the right & Schlupp on the left though.

Could be a coincidence, or it could be that this partnership down the left is letting Dyer really flourish?
