Webbo Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Really hard this year. I'd go for Wiggins but it could just as easily be Murray, Ennis or McIlroy.

Super_horns Posted 26 November 2012 Author Posted 26 November 2012 Sorry..I did a copy and paste! Rather lazy of me.
leicsmac Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Wiggins this year. Would normally say Murray, but he'll have other chances (he'll win a few more Slams, including Wimbledon, over the next few years now) whereas Wiggo did something unique.
purpleronnie Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Well I hope its wiggins I put a bet on him winning in July...I was going to put a shit load on but eventually chickened out...quite glad I did especially after our exploits in the olympics.
Jimothy Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Wiggins or Murray will win it. Farah or Ennis third. Would be nice to see a Paralympian pick up third though.
Guest ttfn Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 The fact that Alastair Cook has scored the second highest amount of runs in the world this year in test cricket and can't get on the shortlist would suggest one of (or both of) two things: 1) This has been an unbelievable year for British sport. 2) The criteria lean way too heavily towards the Olympics/Paralympics. For what it's worth, I think Murray has had every bit as good a year as the extraordinary Wiggins and would be a worthy winner.
Jimothy Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 what, no luiz suarez? Surely a cert for overseas personality of the year.
Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Has to be Wiggins, winning the TDF is something a Bri isn't supposed to do. Biggest loser of the night will be Leicesterpool's parents when they get Decemeber's phone bill.

Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Good thing he's a Bra then. On a side note, (and some people will think I'm right cnut for this) Are some folk really going to vote for paralympians over people like Farah, Ennis, Murray and Wiggins? I'd like to hear a sporting argument to justify it.
kingfox Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Really hard to pick a shortlist of 12, quite gutted Greg Rutherford and Alistair Brownlee aren't on the list. Rutherford was part of the most famous night in British sport, while Ali Brownlee for me does one of the hardest sporting events in the World, all that swimming, cycling then running is extraordinary. For me it will be one of these four - Wiggins, Farah, Ennis or Murray. Don't like Wiggins though as some of you know, so I will go with Mo as he won two golds.

Guest MattP Posted 26 November 2012 Posted 26 November 2012 Is it not supposed to be about "personality" through rather than "achievement"? I don't know I always still thought it was based on sporting achievement? Agree with Kingfox, Rutherford and Brownlie should both be in.
