Amin Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20937775 Cristiano Ronaldo came 2nd with Andreas Iniesta 3rd. Considering that the new Fifa Ballon d'Or (introduced in 2010) is a merge of the old Ballon d'Or and the Fifa World Player of the Year, he has now won more World Player of the Year awards than any other player in history.
Jimothy Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Yeah but could he handle a cold Tuesday night in Stoke!
StanSP Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Following is a link who voted for who. Votes were cast by captain's of national teams, coaches of national teams, and media representatives from countries. EDIT: Link isn't working. Link is in my tweet.
ScouseFox Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Iker Casillas still refusing to acknowledge the fact that Messi even exists.
theessexfox Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 I can't believe that team of the year were all from La Liga, and 10 of the 11 were from Barca or Real.
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Fifa world team of the year Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Dani Alves (Barcelona) Gerard Pique (Barcelona) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) Marcelo (Real Madrid) Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) Xavi (Barcelona) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) Lionel Messi (Barcelona) Bollox...
MC Prussian Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Can't really argue with any of these nominations, except Marcelo maybe. I think there's better LB/LWB out there.
Harry - LCFC Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Fifa world team of the year Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Dani Alves (Barcelona) Gerard Pique (Barcelona) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) Marcelo (Real Madrid) Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) Xavi (Barcelona) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) Lionel Messi (Barcelona) Bollox... Genuinely ridiculous isn't it, classic of FIFA to just pick the fairy boys of Barcelona and Madrid. No consideration for the other "imperfect" teams who might decide to play the occasional ball in the air every now and then. In addition, what the fvck is going on with the centre of defence?! Ramos and Pique are the best CBs in the world? I know everyone has an opinion but that just isn't correct.
marko Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 I can't believe Del Bosque won coach of the year! The one Chelsea parked in front of their goal in Barcelona and Munich was more deserving.
Fox in the North Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Can't argue with the forwards, falcao has been on ridiculous form! Though some of the rest looks just a tad suspect...
Captain... Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Everyone is criticising, but I've not seen anyone suggest any better for any of those positions.

Crouch has been world class this year. Sensational.
Narborough_fox Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 The only changes which could even be considered are Buffon for Casillas and Lahm for Alves. People saying it's a 'fix' have got to remember FIFA don't pick it, fellow pros do.
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Can't argue with the forwards, falcao has been on ridiculous form! Though some of the rest looks just a tad suspect... Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) Xavi (Barcelona) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) Lionel Messi (Barcelona) I`v no problem with these 5 but the other 6? Pique
Carl the Llama Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 I fail to see how Yaya Toure hasn't qualified for the "World's best team". There isn't a better all-round midfielder out there, and surely Kompany's better than Pique and Ramos?! Add the fact that Van Persie's contributed much more per game than Falcao in a league with better defenders and this is just farcical. FIFA aren't even hiding their love of everything Barca/Real/BBVA anymore.
Guest shearfox Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Sorry but piqué and Ramos wouldn't be in my top 10 defenders in the world...
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Everyone is criticising, but I've not seen anyone suggest any better for any of those positions. Spoken like a fake Spaniard
StanSP Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 People, stop saying FIFA voted for it. Fellow pro's and coaches and media voted for it. FIFA didn't vote for anything. Get your facts right before you apportion blame towards them for something they haven't done.

It has nothing to do with FIFA, someone has posted a link so you can see who voted for who, I think it is probably more a case of people picking the Spanish players because they are current World and European Champions and couldn't think of anyone else to put. Here is another link if you want to see who voted for who: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1473859-fifa-ballon-dor-a-complete-guide-to-who-voted-for-who Spoken like a fake Spaniard Que te calles, gillipolla!!!
kingfox Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Just proves La Liga is the best League in the World and not the Premiership. Whole team from La Liga Three nominees all from La Liga Three manager nominees, La Liga/Spanish National Just shows how good and dominant that country is nowadays, people may say Kompany deserves a place, or Van Persie or Hart, but in my opinion they don't, La Liga is the best, even if people think Ramos and Pique are overrated.
Harry - LCFC Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Yeah I thought Stoke should have got some recognition, too. Crouch has been world class this year. Sensational. You've taken my point the wrong way, massively the wrong way actually. When I said "occasional" I meant occasional. I wasn't for a moment suggesting teams that play regular long balls should be considered , I just meant that teams like United and City who play one every now and again and don't stick religiously to a philosophy of keeping it on the deck should have players in their somewhere. So, lets take Kompany who plays for one of these teams that I believe FIFA considers to be a "long ball team" - long ball in relation to Barcelona that is, not long ball in the way Stoke are. Now would you care to tell me that Kompany is an inferior player to Pique or Ramos? To me it seems blindingly obvious that Kompany should be ahead of these two, and I'd imagine the reason he isn't is because he plays for a team that FIFA considers to be "imperfect."
Danizen Posted 7 January 2013 Posted 7 January 2013 Fifa world team of the year Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) Dani Alves (Barcelona) Gerard Pique (Barcelona) Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) Marcelo (Real Madrid) Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid) Xavi (Barcelona) Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid) Lionel Messi (Barcelona) Bollox... Yeah they forgot Benzema!

So La Liga is the best is it? A 2 team league who`s top 2 sides got dicked in the champions league semis by Germans and English clubs.... Fantasy land, mate
