Really lovely setting

Smacked that drystone wall that runs in front of one of the tees and ended up playing the worlds longest hole 😂

Really enjoyed that. KDH seems like a lovely grounded young chap. Him and Tubes got on like a house on fire.

Great stuff

We have seen him hit his second shot 50 yards behind the tee lol

Those two women were slightly scared lol

It was a special moment.

Wasn't happy that my course was closed today, well, more the fact that they didn't bother to tell me until I arrived!

Quickly booked a tee time on the other side of town and teed off at 9.15

Then proceeded to have the round of my life, shooting a 4 over par 73 :D

Still got no idea how.

Really need to play at my home course and get some cards in.

;)

This is why I need to get my cards in.

If they tell me I'm a single figure handicapper, I'll be over the bloody moon!

I think realistically, I'll be somewhere around 12 to 14.

I'm so inconsistent off the tee.

Left the driver in the bag today and struck my 3 wood brilliantly.

If I'm in play off the tee, I've got a good chance, because, although my swing definitely needs refining, I'm pretty handy with my irons. Short game is my strength I'd say and I can put.

How tempting would it be to turn up, waving your invitation!

And happily hack around in just under a hundred.

Something similar happened for real at the British Open Qualifying in 1974. Bloke who was a new golfer blagged himself an invite and turned up and shot 121.

There was a film about it last year with Mark Rylance called Phantom Of The Open. I went and saw it and it was pretty good.

Didn't he con them into inviting him though, it wasn't a case of mistaken identity. He was trying to be famous and posed as a professional golfer.

Right, about 2 weeks ago, I did it.

I bought a Stealth Driver.

It's insane. So light.

I think the fact I have a regular flex shaft in it makes a massive difference from the driver I acquired that had a stiff shaft.

Mugging myself right off by saying this tonight as @Izzyis going to piss himself every time I duff one off the tee lol

I'm very aware that a club like this won't magically solve my issues, I need lessons too. First thing on my list to do in the spring

Deepest bunker is the US apparently, 19 feet below the green.

Nothing on Royal St George's though, they've got 1 that's 40ft deep!

But that is unlucky, almost a slam dunk. Should've asked for the pin out lol

I watched Luke Donald putt over the green in to a bunker last week, then it took him 2 hacks to get it out.

Makes me feel better when a pro takes a 6 on a par 3.

Open champion and LIV golfer Cameron Smith says the sport's world ranking system is becoming "obsolete".

The Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) board does not currently award points to LIV Golf events, although the new circuit has submitted an application.

World ranking positions help determine whether a player is eligible to play in the annual four men's majors.

Smith's Open win gives him exemptions for all majors, but he has slipped from second to fourth in the rankings.

"For sure, it hurts," said the 29-year-old Australian who won the Claret Jug in July and joined the LIV circuit at the culmination of the PGA Tour season in late August.

"I was really close to getting to number one, and that was definitely something I wanted to tick off.

"When you rock up at a tournament, you know who you have to beat, whether there is a world ranking or not. There are generally seven or eight guys that are in that field that you know are going to put up a pretty good fight.

"However, the longer this stuff goes on, the more obsolete those rankings become. Do we need them? It would be nice, but you know who you've got to beat when you get on the golf course."

TLDR - Guy knows about tour with more money but no ranking points. Guy joins tour. Guy complains there are no ranking points.  What next, Ronaldo complaining that its unfair Al Nassr arent in the european champions league?
