purpleronnie Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 I currently own 31 of them. I have to say I did once buy a lot of records simply because I saw a similiar list...bit lame really.
Fox92 Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 5... Revolver (Beatles), Face To Face (Kinks), Exile on Main Street (Rolling Stones), Parklife (Blur), Morning Glory (Oasis). But for the likes of Bowie and Dylan, I have their greatest hits instead.
pSinatra Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 30 Any 'Top 100' is subjective & I'm not sure some of those albums are particularly influential. I was surprised I have 30 of them.........mainly the ones I wouldn't expect to be in the top 100.
Uncle Phil Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 23, thought I'd have more than that tbh, although these lists are rather subjective. My three rarest are Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance, The Wedding Present - George Best, and The Fall - Perverted by Language.

Mark Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 21. Odd choice for an Elliott Smith album on there, probably my least favourite.

sdb Posted 26 January 2013 Share Posted 26 January 2013 15. Not a great list imo. Tries to be a bit highbrow I think. Are there no influential 'pop' albums?

The Doctor Posted 27 January 2013 Share Posted 27 January 2013 19. Utter gubbins of a list mind - Master of Puppets, Rage Against the Machine, Enter the 36 Chambers, Number of The Beast, The Gallery & Black Sabbath all missing?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 28 January 2013 Share Posted 28 January 2013 It looks suspiciously like a list of 100 albums that someone just happens to own. The Fall album seems to have been picked pretty much at random from the dozens they've made, and much as I love Super Furry Animals' 'Radiator', I'm struggling to think of anything or anyone that's been influenced by it. I think I had 34, most of which I bought between the ages of 18 and 25, when you have a tendency to pick up a lot of supposedly 'classic' albums. I've got shitloads of Dylan and Hendrix, and quite a lot of Beatles. Do I ever listen to them? No

If we're talking influential then where is Spice by the Spice Girls or True Blue by Madonna? Some of them aren't even the most influential albums by that particular band. Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd - I don't think so! Automatic For The People by REM - no. It's basically a list compiled by someone trying way to hard to look cool. And if you have to try, you ain't.
David Guiza Posted 28 January 2013 Share Posted 28 January 2013 If the above list is correct then 37, i would have to say that some of the albums listed aren't even the particular band/artists best work however.

Guest Posted 3 February 2013 Share Posted 3 February 2013 23, but that list is poo. I don't even care that much for some of the 23 I have. Just happen to have 100's of albums in my collection. I don't think 1 of my own top 100 has made that list.

Weller in Tights Posted 4 February 2013 Share Posted 4 February 2013 33, some weird choices on the list though. Some obvious choices as 'influences' ( eg Sex Pistols, Beatles, Stone Roses, Kraftwerk), but where are Black Sabbath? It has AC/DC on the list and no Sabbath? Also a distinct lack of 'Black' artists. But hey, I suppose these lists are put up to spark debate. I personally would put on it the entire collection of The Fall albums, but there is no accounting for taste!!! Langston Posted 5 February 2013 Share Posted 5 February 2013 Pretty Hate Machine, Master of Puppets, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm should all be in there. Surprised there's no Police / Springsteen - I'd have thought as 'influences' they'd rank pretty high.
