Dan Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Last night wouldn't even be in my top 20. We didn't actually lose the game. How can anyone say last night was worse than Barnsley away last year, Millwall at home under Sven, Bristol City at home under Sven, 6-1 at Portsmouth, 5-1 at Forest, the list goes on. Last night was a horrible game but we have endured loads worse.
cjslcfc Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 last night ? having to rely on the keeper to score in literally the last minute to stop us losing against a team we are 50 points clear of We've had far far far far far worse than that. One that really sticks in my mind as I was quite young at the time was the 5-0 thrashing Villa gave us at the KP in 2004 (or the Walkers as it was then). That one really hurt!
Dan Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Weale's howler at Derby was horrible. The whole day from that moment onwards was completely depressing. A few games earlier we'd been 2-0 up against the Chavs live on BBC, it was a nightmare when they got it back to 2-2. I still remember me and my mate walked all the way back to Glen Parva and didn't say a single word the whole way. The worst game as a whole I can remember was Millwall at home in league one. We lost 1-0 and looked absolutely clueless from start to finish. Even though it was 1-0 you could see we'd lost well before the final whistle. considering it was in league one, it's got to be the worst performance I've seen when in attendance. The only performance worse than that was the Portsmouth 6-1, but I only saw that on TV. Sousa really was a tit and that game summed him up. I really lost my rag with him (and Mandy) after that one. Everything that he could've done wrong, he did wrong. He even fvcked up the things I thought it was impossible to fvck up in a single game of football. As did Morrison. But the worst feeling has to be Sheffield Wednesday though. I really thought we were going to escape again, especially when Hume scored early. The second half was heartbreaking. I'll be scarred for life by that game. I'm sure I'm leaving out loads more, including a number of Sven's, (Norwich at home, Bristol City at home, Milwall at home) but those are the ones that stand out. That Coventry game is a good shout for me personally. We spent the whole week at school winding up our Cov mates about how we were going to wipe our arses with them. 15 minutes in and we're looking like we'll stick 6 or 7 past them. To not even win the game was absolutely gutting.
isaidno Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 2007 , 3-1 Defeat to QPR under Rob kelly. One of only 2 times i've left early. the other was the 5-0 defeat to Villa in 2004
purpleronnie Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 I remember losing at home to Port Vale 1-0 early 90's, if memory served me correctly they scored very early and pretty much time wasted for the rest of the game, horrendous viewing.
bovril Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Nope, not talking about the dross yesterday. I finally found a clip with the "highlights" of said game in 2003: Wasn't this game featured as one of the matches used in that fictitious football TV series that followed a fake team making its way up the Football League a few years later? Why why why??? Why post this video? I still haven't quite recovered from that game or the 3-3 with Middlesborough. In terms of quality, the worst I've seen would have to be a 0-1 reverse to Norwich in December 05 and then the same scoreline the next month against Saints in the cup.
billyn88 Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Entertainment wise, it has to be the 1-0 win over Crewe in the League Cup back in 2003/2004 season. I was begging for someone to score to spare us the agony of extra time and luckily Dickov obliged from the spot. Woeful performance wise - 1-0 defeat at home to Forest the season they went down, I don't think I've seen us look as ineffectual since, made worse by how utterly pants that Forest side was. Scarring wise - in person it's one of the many late away defeats/draws I've attended so take your pick from Forest 2-2 under Sven, QPR 1-0 defeat under Sven and Leeds 1-1 in league one. I'm very lucky not to have attended Cardiff, Watford or Stoke. Watching THAT moment in the pub last year at vicarage road is right up there - I don't think I spoke for about 10 minutes after the final whistle.
melrose Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 The FA Cup semi at villa park in 1982 against the yids.....Gutted after! Followed by the Wycombe game
AndWhat? Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 5-0 at home to villa in 03/04, Zoo magazines everywhere!
MattFox Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Nottingham forest 5 leicester 1 Leicester 0 leeds 6 Leicester 0 villa 5 Leicester 1 Sheffield Wednesday 3 Barnsley 2 leicester 0 I could think of more but I'd get depressed
Leicester1884Filbert Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 worst away i have attended probably Yeovil this season, atmosphere was dyer and the journey was horrendous.
One Legged Beaver Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 I actually enjoyed last night in the end just for the magical finish to the game! My worst is a pretty obscure one but I'd go for Charlton away in 2001. Possibly the most abject performance I'd ever seen from a team, don't think we crossed the half way line but for the kick offs. At least in ended in Peter Taylor's departure.
Harry - LCFC Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Burnley at home, 11/12 season. 0-0. Barely felt like I was at a football match.
foxes4e4 Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 since theres a thread about the best game ever, whats the worst? id go with 0-0 with stoke when we got relegated. still cant bring myself to remember the game ive have to wipe it from my memory
Karljohn Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Bolton 0-5 under Taylor, losing 3 nil at Peterborough when we could have secured promotion under Little. Leeds at home this season was one of the dullest nil nils ever, and losing 3 nil to Cov scum in the fa cup with Elliott missing a pen sticks in the memory.
foxaholic Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Christ, had some horrors. 5-1 at Forest. THAT day at Stoke. Cardiff play-off, home and away. 1999 Worthington Cup final. Losing at home to Wycombe took the biscuit though. It sparked a decline that season that hung over into the next season, and took the best part of a decade to recover from. I agree losing to a goal from some one picked up on the internet and indirectly causing relegation next season beats everything .
MC Prussian Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 I agree losing to a goal from some one picked up on the internet and indirectly causing relegation next season beats everything . Ceefax, actually.
Brooksy Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Burnley at home, 11/12 season. 0-0. Barely felt like I was at a football match. Think we drew with Forest at home 0-0 around then aswell didn't we? Definitely two of the shittest games I've ever seen.
LeicesterBran Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 2011/12 season Portsmouth 1-1. That was a poor game of football on display. Barnsley 1-2 . We were absoluetly garbage that day. 2012/13 season Barnsley 2-0 away. Was at that game and came back fuming, we were shit and I recall Marshall gave the middle finger to our fans. Cvnt.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 I've only read the first page of this thread and I feel really old. I'm only 25 as well! To those of you who didn't see O'Neill I really feel for you. This is the possibly the worst period in the club's history you've grown up in. Things can only get better. My worst, couldn't pick between Wycombe, THAT loss to Wednesday (we thought we were safe - and went 1 up from memory. Didn't Hume miss a pen as well?) and the 5-1 at Forest. I can't listen to Mull of Kintyre without boiling with rage and seeing flashbacks of Earnshaw dancing round Hobbs.
BoyJones Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Oct 92, losing 7-1 at Sheff Wednesday wasn't much fun!! Biggest defeat I have ever seen us suffer in 52 years.
shailen Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 6-1 pompey away, when we both made poor starts to the season
crisp packet Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 Wycombe fa cup at home 2001. Begin of the end!
Nugent Posted 27 March 2014 Posted 27 March 2014 My first ever away game was that 4-3 at Wolves, terrible. Losing 4-1 first game of the season a few years ago away at Sheff Utd was shocking too, pretty sure we went 1-0 up as well.
