Cov have gone into ADMINISTRATION

Don't wish it on any football club, I'm a football fan at the end of the day. Would be nice to see us all (I know Coventry are West Midlands, but still) at the top level again.

There was a lot of talk on their forum about moving to the rugby ground and building some temporary stands there.

Closer to the city centre as well, so might actually be a good short term option.

As much as we bemoan the loss of Filbert Street, Coventry's move to the Ricoh has utterly destroyed them.

As much as they probably exaggerate it, you can't ignore what they say about us. I don't think our rivalry is totally non-existent but it doesn't appear to be what some supporters make it out to be.

I don't think many of our fans make it out to be something it's not. Far more fans try to make out the Coventry game is huge, like the little chavs on both sides that have had a scrap in recent years.

Rivalry or not I hate Coventry, their pathetic excuse for a fanbase has wound me up from time to time. I can't say I'm physically laughing at them right now but I don't feel a shred of sympathy. They'll survive but hopefully this will make things more difficult for them and they'll all be shitting themselves.

Hopefully they'll stay in the lower leagues for a decade or two.

Aye. I think them getting kicked out will be good news to a lot of them.

What's gonna happen to the stadium now though? Where does the revenue come from? I am going to see MUSE there in May and apparently ticket sales have been poor for the Ricoh whereas the other 3 uk dates are sold out! Perhaps its just a cov thing?

I dont think it was that bad when we went into administration. Seemed to galvanise the squad and the supporters. We finished 2nd, the atmosphere in the stadium was decent and we had a decent crack at the Prem the year after. Plus, even though we knew Lineker's allegiance was with us, what he did i'll never forget.

I've actually never felt prouder as a fan as I did that season. After we beat Brighton to secure our promotion, I went travelling to Thailand and Australia. The first thing I saw when I got off the bus in Bangkok was a thai bloke with a City shirt on. I said to him 'Leicester' and pointed to the shirt and he smiled and said, 'Frank Sinclair number 1'.

So fvcking weird.

Fvck Cov by the way. A vile football club with vile supporters.

Some jumped up twat whining for 2 hours. You'd think the people of Coventry would love that.

Yep, eighteen. I've also noticed people of my age tend to have slightly different opinions of who's a rival and what not. Understandable, I know things were different a few decades ago.

I think the fact it's divided about sums up our standard of rivalries to be honest. We've not got a decent one at all. Forest is the closest to a good one but that's turning into the M69 'derby', well certainly in the home fixture anyway.

I've been at Cov uni since 2009 and been living/working there since. Therefore I've been quite close to all the local news and chat about CCFC.

1 - As someone else said - the city DOES NOT feel like it has a football team whatsoever

2 - Whilst the stadium move and the nature of the deal (i.e no access to revenue, paying high rent etc) has somewhat crippled the club, the single most important factor in their downfall has been their owners, the hedge fund company SISU - they have since day one had no intention of investing in the club/team - all they've ever done is asset strip the club.

They've consistently sold off their best players:

Marlon King

Lukas Jutkiewicz (for around a million, to boro in Jan, when he was their top scorer in their relegation season!)

Richard Keogh

etc etc

What SISU have been great at is PR, and not letting people realise that that's all they've ever done - and with the rent row that's rumbled on over the last 12 months+ they've constantly been able to deflect attention and blame unto the council for the situation, rather then themselves who signed the crap deal in the first place!

The 'we don't care about Leicester' schtick has been undermined on countless occasions.

The atmosphere at the abandoned game in 2007 would tell you something very, very different about the rivalry. That was vicious.

The 'M69 Derby' is nothing, you'll never experience an atmosphere like that Clive Clarke game at either of our two grounds. The mutual hatred just isn't there.

Highfield Road was better though, but not by as much as you'd think.

As I've said in my response, you need only go back as recently as 2007 to see that the derby is not as one-sided as Forest keyboard warriors like to make out.

They were rather angry that game, replay wasn't much better either to be honest!

The Coventry game was certainly quite heated in the Premier League, I think the moves to the new grounds has dulled it and lost it's edge.

The stadium is miles out of Cov, the ground is more in Bedworth than Cov! Every time i visit Cov City Centre which is rare because it's a terrible dirty city, you hardly see any Cov colours whatsoever. Most Cov supporters either live on the outskirts or live in Cov but don't follow them anymore (some argue due to the stadium move). I mean one of my cousins who lives in Cov but supports Leeds!

I also remember in Nuneaton, there used to be quite a large fan base here, but in recent years you see more boro colours than Cov nowhere days, though most Nunny people hate Cov people and feeling is mutual there.

If Cov went bust tomorrow, and ended up in non league and forced to start again I wonder what the gates would be like? who would follow them? I mean they already lost no end of support when they moved to the ricoh, god knows how much they would get for AFC Coventry City.

I seriously didn't think I'd make it back to my car alive after the abandoned game in 2007! lol

Yeah the 2007 game was ridiculous but quality, very fierce.

The 2007 forest cup game had some ugly scenes after it was called off at half time. Them being sore losers (knowing they had already lost the replay!) indicates they definitely see us as rivals.

I was at this game (sitting next to Manwell Pablo and moaning about how shit Henderson was) and have no memory of any ugly scenes lol My main memory is that it's what I met Raj of here for the first time - there was some random guy just shouting "KOKOPOPS" at me across the road and I didn't have a clue who it was!

Forest are the team I get genuinely nervous about pre-game. Dislike Derby and Cov and get mildly aggravated when they pipe up spouting garbage - but nothing, nothing feels worse than losing to Forest and the smarmy, smug, nonchalant clowns they call fans (for the majority).

It wasn't Top or Vichai was it? Perhaps they bought us because they remember you so fondly!

Ha! Nah, just a regular tuk-tuk driver. The fame of the Citeh has always stretched to the furthest corners of the world!!

Bye Cov!!
