SystonFox Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Fellaini and Baines to Yanited then. Phil Jones on his way out
Bert Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Ferguson has had a massive hand it picking who the next manager is.
Tielemans63 Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Moyes hasn't got the experience at the top level IMHO. United should be aiming higher - Mourinho would be perfect for them.
Fox92 Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Fellaini and Baines to Yanited then. Phil Jones on his way out I think Baines and Fellaini will go, also. Did anybody hear Fergie the other day? Said that Jones has the ability to become United's 'greatest ever player'. Personally never seen that much in him to form the same opinion, but then again I don't see him in training.
Haydos Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Moyes hasn't got the experience at the top level IMHO. United should be aiming higher - Mourinho would be perfect for them. Would he? Very temperamental, has never stuck around anywhere longer than a few years, seems to cause problems. He might be a fantastic manager and I think he'd continue to bring them success in the short term, can't see him offering them stability though.
theessexfox Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Hope Pearson gets the job so he can take some of the shite back there with him ie jamie vardy & De late What has Moyes ever won. Average overrated manager
Danno Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 He has built Everton up to compete for the European places every season, with little (and sometimes no) budget. I do like Moyes, but I've always liked Everton as a club as well. The thing that I like, as well, is the amount of quality Moyes has brought in at Everton - the likes of Jelavic, Merilies, Fellaini and Baines are all good footballers with great feet. The only thing that is missing from Moyes' long reign at Everton is a domestic trophy; a league cup or a FA Cup. Moyes had no funds? Beattie £6m, Kroldrup £5m, Andy Johnson £8.6m, Yakubu £11m, Fellaini £15m, £7m Heitinga, £9m Bil’dnov. Load of bollocks
Leicesterpool Posted 8 May 2013 Author Posted 8 May 2013 Can you see Moyes being able to attract players like Ronaldo?

Maybe, although I think he'd have stayed longer at Chelsea but he was undermined by Abramovich's meddling. I think everyone at United will be pretty used to temperamental manages though!

Load of bollocks He doesn't spend big every year, and if he does he gets the one player. Can you see Moyes being able to attract players like Ronaldo? Surely the attraction of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the World, playing in front of 70k+ fans every home game, and winning trophies would be a big advantage for Moyes to attract players?

Fox92 Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Still has one of the best squads in the prem and can't even win a trophy.. He has built that squad up, but yeah, true. Has lost in a final and semi finals though.
Jon the Hat Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 MON would be great at Everton. I hope that happens. Mourinho was never an option for United. They would cringe at the thought of his antics at Old Trafford.
MooseBreath Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Didnt fergie mention moyes as an ideal replacement some time ago? moyes seems the safe option, isnt going to bring the club into disripute (like mourinho would) wont complain when the glazers deny him transfer money (like mourinho would) wont bugger off after 2 years to the next big job (like mourinho would) Won't win anything (like mourinho would) To be honest I'm amazed Moyes is even seriously in the picture. Is it because he is Scottish and looks a bit like fergie? Because it sure can't be down to his managerial achievements.

Seriously, if it was easy delivering the consistency he has, everyone would be doing it. They are not. Clearly Man U want someone who will fit into the established setup they have, in terms of youth development, scouting, and probably even coaching. Wouldn't surprise me to see Giggs or Scholes on the coaching staff to give some continuity as well. Pep only had one year experience managing the Barca B team when he took over...
kingfox Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 When Moyes joined Everton they weren't particularly great finishing 15th/16th most season's and not getting anywhere. Regardless if he hasn't won anything, he has built Everton up and turned them into a stable top 8 team, capable of doing well in Europe and Cup Competitions, he got them finishing top four, then fifth place two season's running. Brought in quality players, has turned some players into some fantastic international performers, Baines and Jagielka in particular. I love you Dan, but you don't know what your talking about when it comes to Everton.
Kitchandro Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Moyes has done a good job for Everton, no doubt, but he is overrated. He's still not won anything, they haven't finished that high most seasons and they have got a very good squad. It's not like he's getting a lot out of average players, and they haven't been as skint as people make out. Everton are a big club anyway, if they were finishing 15th they'd be majorly underachieving, they should be a top 10 club. The fact he hasn't won anything leads me to suggest he's under-qualified for a job of this magnitude. Certainly I think O'Neill's career is more impressive even with his time at Sunderland. Moyes has been helped by being in a stable job for the last 10 years and not having to adapt to a different challenge.

These are hardly world beaters and most have come from obscurity. He's done very well bringing in players and developing them and getting the best out of them. That's one of his strongest attributes.

The owners have said they want someone who is loyal and has a good record in Europe. Moyes has both of these, as well as other points that I, and other posters, have pointed out.
21st Century Fox Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Mourinho would no doubt leave once he'd won enough and be off for another challenge with PSG or whoever has an open chequebook at that time. There really aren't that many viable candidates with PL experience, consistency and loyalty.

jonthefox Posted 8 May 2013 Posted 8 May 2013 Ferguson retirement - Moyes to Man Utd - Martinez to Everton - Pearson to Wigan Exactly what i thought. + o'neill to Leicester
