StanSP Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 My favourite thing Joe Kinnear did in this latest stint was scout Shane Ferguson at Birmingham. That's alright, until you find out that Ferguson was on loan from Newcastle to Birmingham at the time
Haydos Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Between Willian and Matic for MOTM for me. Not Hazard or Cahill? They were both immense! I actually thought Willian was a bit disappointing, especially in the final third.
Haydos Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Dominated means having most of the ball and camping in the oppositions half. The second half was nothing like that. It was a scrappy game which never looked likely to produce another goal on the whole. I'm not disputing Chelsea did well on the night and deserved to win. I just dispute people wanking over it like it was liquid football and a performance for the ages. Does it though? Their formation was much better, their player selection was better, balance was better, players performed better, they were much more fluid and potent, they created better chances, they won. Just because they didn't have 70% possession and 20 shots to 0 doesn't mean they didn't dominate. Mourinho showed how much better a manager he is than Pellegrini last night and City looked a shadow of their usual selves.
Dan Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Can't agree with people not saying it's all that, winning 0-1 at Man City is a quality result. Seems like these 'stats' like pass completion and shots that $ky absolutely fap over has brainwashed everyone. I'd love to have their level of control. I'm with Kitch that I'd rather watch a sublime attacking performance but defending is an art and shouldn't be completely dis-credited. hahaha I love Jose. Still pretending he isn't even trying to win the league this year. "Ey no we are a team for next season, I can't try and win the league this year". It takes someone seriously naive to buy that like
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I love winning 1-0 away, especially sometimes if you don't deserve it. Turn up, grab a goal, defend, take the three points home. There's something about Leicester winning 1-0 away from home that I like.
Happy Fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Swansea City are set to reshuffle Michael Laudrup's backroom team. Former captain Gary Monk is poised to take up a coaching post, along with recently-appointed academy consultant Pep Clotet. Manager Laudrup returns to the club on Tuesday having been in Paris for two days since his team's 2-0 defeat against West Ham. Swansea are 12th in the Premier League, three points ahead of Cardiff City who they face at home Saturday. The move casts doubt over the future of his current backroom team - including Erik Larsen, Morten Wieghorst and Oscar Garcia. The fact that it has taken place while Laudrup was away from the club will also fuel speculation about the Dane's future. Bookies having shortened the odds against his departure with the Swans slipping in the table after one win in 10 Premier League games.
ScouseFox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Mourinho has only lost twice to the top 4 in his time in England. In 23 games.
Dan Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Swansea have turned really stale. Laudrup barely strikes me as interested anymore.
foxfanazer Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Mourinho has only lost twice to the top 4 in his time in England. In 23 games.Incredible really isn't it. Sometimes struggles to get his players motivated against lesser opposition
Leicesterpool Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Swansea have turned really stale. Laudrup barely strikes me as interested anymore. Laudrup i think is set to leave in the summer, i think Laudrup is suddenly starting realise how small Swansea are and haven't got the funds to compete in the top six. Swansea to give them credit have done really well with there limited means but overall financial wise there not a premier league club. I think it boyles down to the fact they've been fortunate to hire class managers in recent years.
One Legged Beaver Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I've just seen the Carroll's red card appeal failed. It was never a foul let alone a red card. The FA become more and more farcical by the month.
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Joe Kinnear gone already, still don't see the point in his appointment. The only thing he signed was his P45.
Uncle Albert Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Regarding the Andy Carroll red card, I think there was some intent there from Carroll to connect with Flores.
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Personally thought it was natural for Carroll. He just turned around after jumping, of course his arm is going to fly in any direction. Thought it was harsh.
Jimothy Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I think it's harsh, he's just regaining balance after the tangle. Regardless of intent, Chico Flores deserves punishment for his reaction. Did Carroll elbow him in the face? No he elbowed him in the ponytail, yet Flores goes down clutching his face. Blatant play acting like that deserves punishment.
Uncle Albert Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Oh don't get me wrong it was ridiculous from Chico Flores, but Carroll knew what he was intending to do. Anyway, they were hardly going to reverse a Howard Webb decision in a World Cup year.
ealingfox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 So, Laudrup sacked! Could certainly push Swansea into the relegation mix, reckon more than 3 teams won't reach 40 points. Fulham will surely go down?
Leicesterpool Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 So, Laudrup sacked! Could certainly push Swansea into the relegation mix, reckon more than 3 teams won't reach 40 points. Fulham will surely go down? Another problem for Swansea is there still in the europa league!
One Legged Beaver Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Another problem for Swansea is there still in the europa league! It's a good thing they signed a player with European experience in N'gog then
Father Ted Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Swansea have turned really stale. Laudrup barely strikes me as interested anymore. Totally agree. Their football has almost reverted slowly back to what it was under Sousa, much slower, less counterattacking football. However, they haven't had the best of runs with injuries and Michu has been a huge loss for them, after Bony they don't really have another striker.
Langston Posted 5 February 2014 Posted 5 February 2014 Regarding the Andy Carroll red card, I think there was some intent there from Carroll to connect with Flores. I was going to post this. Flores went down embarrassingly and should've seen punishment but there's not a cat's chance that Carroll's arm movement was just natural instinct, quite the opposite. He knew exactly what he was doing.
Dan Posted 5 February 2014 Posted 5 February 2014 The fact Carroll is portrayed as the bigger wrong do-er in that incident than Chico sums up absolutely everything wrong disciplinary in football. Absolutely pathetic that cheating is protected.
ScouseFox Posted 5 February 2014 Posted 5 February 2014 If Carroll wanted to web him he would probably have just walked over to him and given him a decent left hook. None of this back of the hand sly little clip on the head shit. He will probably get fined for this, though... Andy Carroll â€@AndyTCarroll 7h DISGRACEFUL!!!
MC Prussian Posted 5 February 2014 Posted 5 February 2014 The fact Carroll is portrayed as the bigger wrong do-er in that incident than Chico sums up absolutely everything wrong disciplinary in football. Absolutely pathetic that cheating is protected. I guess it's also down to Carroll's perceived image as a "rough guy", who can be somewhat foul-mouthed when required - even though he seems to have changed his lifestyle around. Maybe there's still a certain bias against him playing into the whole affair, too.

They've got Manchester United at the weekend, followed by Liverpool, West Brom (big game) then Chelsea. They are currently four points off of 17th position. Can't see it getting much better for them.
