StanSP Posted 15 June 2013 Posted 15 June 2013 How do teams qualify to play in the confederations? World Cup hosts - Brazil World cup winners - Spain European Champs winners (runner up if EC winners are WC winners too) - Would be Spain, so Italy Asian Cup winner - Japan Gold Cup winner - Mexico Copa America winner - Uruguay Oceania Cup winner - Tahiti African Cup of Nations winner - Nigeria
Rincewind Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 looks like a good start to Mexico v Italy. May record the one later on and watch it in the morning.
Uncle Phil Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Hell of a free kick from Pirlo. Does the pitch look narrow to anyone else?
StanSP Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Pirlo. Trademark free-kick. Still, to this day, can't believe Milan sold him.
HEGGSY Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Sublime free kick from Pirlo. Pretty much the perfect free kick 1-0 Italy
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 the keeper pulled out of the save for the goal if you watch again
StanSP Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 How was Barzagli not red-carded for the foul on Dos Santos which led to the penalty? Clear denial of a goalscoring opportunity?
Kitchandro Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 the keeper pulled out of the save for the goal if you watch again That's what I thought. It was a great free kick and he may not have got there but still, what a strange thing to do as a goalkeeper. He's had too many Corona's if you ask me!
Brooksy Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 That's what I thought. It was a great free kick and he may not have got there but still, what a strange thing to do as a goalkeeper. He's had too many Corona's if you ask me! Either that or he's been watching Kasper Schmeichel.
Rincewind Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Italy look good. Positive which is unusual for them.
Kitchandro Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 I hate it when presenters are so desperate to encourage praise for a great player they'll attempt to play down any criticism of the opposition. Like why is Chappers trying to skate over the fact that the goalkeeper is not all that far away from the ball and pulls his hands away? Why is he trying to make out that that isn't an issue? After seeing it several times I'm still not convinced he couldn't have saved it. Only because it's a player like Pirlo is he not encouraging Nevin to say what he was saying.
Ozwin Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Can someone explain to me what the hell happened to Balotelli, turned into some player since he went back to Italy it seems. Also, Kevin Kilbane's not a bad commentator is he? Knows his stuff, much better than Mark Bright *shudder* or Lawro.
Fox92 Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Can someone explain to me what the hell happened to Balotelli, turned into some player since he went back to Italy it seems. I don't watch European Football (apart from when an English club plays one in the European Cup), but from what I saw of him at City, he looked like a good footballer, and fechnically gifted. Just seemed to have the wrong attitude, I certainly wouldn't have him near my club regardless.
StanSP Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 I wonder if the Mexican goal-keeper, Corona, thought he was going to smash the post hence why moving his arms away? Surprising, anyway. You don't see many keepers doing that because they have the presence of mind to stand just infront of the goal-line to avoid hitting the post anyway!
Fox in the North Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 92% possession after 10 minutes, i know BBC stats but thats just ridiculous!
StanSP Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Spain bore the hell out of me. Do Stoke bore the hell out of you as well?
Soar Fox Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Do Stoke bore the hell out of you as well? Don't watch them.
AjcW Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Oh so boring watching world class players try ridiculous passes and intricate moves and pull them off..... Jesus.
daventry_fox Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Ballotelli seems to have matured a lot as a player since he's been back in Italy, from what I've seen of him since he left city he seems to work a lot harder for the team
StanSP Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Don't watch them. Because they're not fun to watch? I just find it ironic that a lot of people who don't like Spain play probably don't like the way Stoke play (not you personally, just in general). What is the best way to play then? There's nothing likeable, in my eyes, about the way Stoke play. What's likeable about Spain's play is that it can be so patient and perfected in some parts but then in the blink of an eye it can be so quick and concise and almost always proves to be successful. It's hardly always 'sideways' passing, either.
Bert Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Think Spain are boring too. Yeah it's the "right way" but it's played at a snails pace. Certainly not "exciting".
