broughtonblue Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Couldn't understand why when the Wigan fans were having a mardy and trying to get at the city fans, no police arrived to help the stewards. Then after the game about 30 Wigan retards were looking for trouble, again with no police in sight. I spoke to one of our stewards about this who said it was a 'police free fixture!' I then asked him if they have the power to arrest and he said all they could do was try and get the culprits to the cells. Ok so they probably weren't expecting trouble but if it had kicked off afterwards it would have been big news that football violence was back. Seems a stupid decision to me not to have any police presence their.
Fox92 Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 'Police free' is ridiculous, however, I don't think anyone expected any trouble with fans of Wigan. It is a stupid decision though. Always think there is too much police when we play the likes of Leeds, Millwall and Birmingham.
Danizen Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 The club obviously want to cut costs but to have no police at all is asking for trouble. Imagine the fallout if something had kicked off.
Jace Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 I thought it was compulsory not an optional extra
AKCJ Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 It was kicking off as I walked past a burger van.
Munshi Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 When they conceded the second, they all suddenly became hardened thugs and decided to try and get past the stewards. They would have ended up slipping down the segregation thing anyway
broughtonblue Posted 14 September 2013 Author Posted 14 September 2013 It was kicking off as I walked past a burger van.Yep, about four of them approached three of our fans who were just walking by, then they had a go at the smallest of the three, tossers
Naylor118 Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 There was police there. They were ushering the lad with the blue hat out at the end.
GingerrrFox Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 They are all soft *****. This lad in a Stone Island top was giving it big guns until he realised his mates had walked off and suddenly he looked like a lost dog trying to find his owner.
Guesty Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 I can understand it with costs and the fact Wigan don't take many away fans, but you'd have thought there'd be one or two police officers just to arrest people if necessary. But to be fair we've had police free fixtures before and there's never been any trouble.
Karljohn Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Lancashire inbreds always want trouble. Same with Burnley a couple of years back, stuffed them 4 nil and they we're looking for trouble after, poor losers.
Mack Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Its the Police who make decisions on their own presence and in what numbers not the club.
fleckneymike Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Police were there at the end dealing with some 'nawty' looking yoofs.
philce Posted 14 September 2013 Posted 14 September 2013 Did anyone else see the woman with the handbag in their end sticking the v's up at us after he second? She went out and then came back up twice at least! Very funny!
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 There was police there. They were ushering the lad with the blue hat out at the end. TK MAX TK MAX TK MAX
lcfc"weasel" Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 There's at least 2 police officers at every game, but you'd never see them unless you got into trouble. No police on the ground at yesterday's game though.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 Its the Police who make decisions on their own presence and in what numbers not the club. It is a bit of both. If the club don't feel the need for policing, then it is not unusual for them to keep away. Whatever they do, they can't win. At many of Wycombe's home games,I was the only police presence, and never had a thing to do, bar one occasion.

The police are always present around the city and outside the ground as a normal part of their duties, but the club have to pay for any of them that are actually deployed inside the ground I think you'll find.
Finnegan Posted 15 September 2013 Posted 15 September 2013 It was nothing the stewards couldn't handle. Don't see an issue.
Manchesterred Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 Same with Burnley a couple of years back, stuffed them 4 nil and they we're looking for trouble after, poor losers. Haha Matty James is a Lancashire inbread

LukeyZade Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Wigans fans are just chavvy inbred teens looking for trouble. Pre 2005 they only had old men supporters. Its ok tho i just walk round sayin two nil! Not been punched yet
