AKCJ Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 I've had some very good, and very shit, moments in there. It'll be missed that.
Bert Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Because women and children stood on there? There's no rule that states children shouldn't be on there either. What about people that have never been on the terrace before? How are they to know that it could possibly be unsafe? Kitch, some people do lack common sense and sadly that is the way of the world today.

Kitch, some people do lack common sense and sadly that is the way of the world today. That's a good point actually. Hadn't thought about it but yeah there should be rules, or at least clear guidance, about what being in the terrace involves. As much as I think the fans should take most of the responsibility Peterborough should also make an effort to help vulnerable supporters.
Fox92 Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Good. It's dangerous... Went last season and the amount of people pushing forward is ridiculous, people had to escape under the front and get to where the stewards where stood. It's 2013 now, the world moves forward, and football is a part of that. I never found it possible to 'enjoy' the game stood up at Peterborough. And before anyone starts with all the 'modern fan' shite, I just like to turn up, support the boys and go home. And I want to watch the game in the easiest/best way.

Rail seats would deal with that problem entirely. It's a fallacy to suggest the whole thing needs to be knocked down to make it safe, it just needs one improvement.
The Blur Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 I feel sorry for the bloke in those pictures. Look's like he's the only **** doing work on it. Thought the same- Reckon he looked bit like Mick McCarthy!

I cant get my head around the ''old days'' argument either to be honest. To those who preferred the older days, thats fine, i have nothing against your opinion whatsoever, its your perogative. But in those old days, stadiums were inadequate with terrible views in parts, accompanied by poor facilites, caged behind fences like animals, and with some reason with the absolute rife hooliganism of the past. Thankfully, the game has made such good progress in that regard.

There aren't many people who say they want to revert back to what we had before. Instead they'll talk about how they miss the good things rather than how they're pleased the bad stuff has gone. I'm pretty convinced that rail seats would would bring back what people loved about the past without the dangers that went with it before. It's the ideal solution IMO - bringing back the old days in effect while sieving out the stuff we don't want.

JonnyBoy Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Grandma? Sorry moany bollocks. It's unsafe for children, and small women who don't have the ability to protect themselves from being crushed during a surge, and just remember these people do go on the terrace so lets not say "well they could go and sit somewhere else" because evidently that didn't happen. there is a seating area right next to it
Bert Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 No shit Sherlock. Some people might not want to sit on there though and try the terrace instead, and if they've never done so before how are they to know it's unsafe?
Guest MattP Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Speaks volumes that they averaged the highest away gate in the Championship at their ground. Nail on head. Even more so when for most of the country it's a nightmare to get to by car or train. Sad to see it go, first game there was the infamous 'Peterbrough streakers' game where we lost 3-0 and we took 9,000!! travelling fans. Great times.
Corky Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 The terrace itself wasn't unsafe, it looked either oversold or too many people being moved into or congregating in one area. Had absolutely no issues in the three games before last season.
Bugg Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 The stand wasn't unsafe for me, it was due to everyone cramming themselves into the middle. Where I was (the left side of the stand) there was absolutely loads of free space.
chrishlcfc Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Always loved standing in that terrace, been there 3 or 4 times. We always played crap there only seen us win once but it was a brilliant away day. I remember last year rolling into the ground at 3 finding a space at the back, stand there and 2 minutes later i turn around and people were moving all over the place, turned out some lad had spewed up and it went all over me.
Soar Fox Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 The stand wasn't unsafe for me, it was due to everyone cramming themselves into the middle. Where I was (the left side of the stand) there was absolutely loads of free space. Spot on. Me and my friends got in the ground about 2.45 went to walk through the middle saw how crammed it was, so went towards the left hand side. It wasn't that the terrace was unsafe it was people not looking and thinking.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Good, I missed the first half hour last season because they had over sold that piece of crap. I hate that away end, I'm all up for standing and creating acgood atmosphere but that away end was dangerous and so out dated.
Donut Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 The people who say "the stand was safe, it was the people in it that made it unsafe" how can they be seperate things? the fact that the stand allows people to create full and empty areas surely means the stand is unsafe?
MC Prussian Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 To be honest, the home stands aren't much better. I've been there and it's tight as.
darko2k7 Posted 29 November 2013 Posted 29 November 2013 Hope nobody from Health and safety sees those picture's . I can spot at least 4 infringements and i'm sure there's more i'm not aware of

It appears that there was space at the sides of the terrace, but nobody either went over there or knew there was space as no officials informed anyone.

The car park was dangerous that day too,I was near the halfway line( where the new stand is) they left a pile of limestone near our exit and the queues to fill their shirts up was huge and my bloody car was in there( Citroen AX GT) not built for rocks. One bloke ran out near me.Best part of the game.
