QPR v Leicester Post Match.

Thought on the whole we were pretty poor. Every time we got the ball, we just gave it away within two passes or hoofed it up the pitch to nobody... Our defense was fairly solid and Wes was back to his brilliant best alongside Moore. Second half was better but I thought in all we were lucky to come out with three points. Fair play to us though, we've done a job on them today, much like Forest did to us.

Good confidence boosting win, hopefully we can capitalize now and beat Reading and Bolton at home.

Pull the other one.

Got to say that we weren't that impressive with the ball, gave it away far too often and at times left the strikers starved of service. The first half especially lacked fluency. But our work off the ball was outstanding, lots of well-timed tackles and blocks, a keeper in great form and a clinical finish for our goal.

Second half we improved and looked much more of a threat, Dyer's finishing should've been better and James was unlucky to hit the bar. More importantly, we gave them so little and they had to resort to knocking it long which played into our hands. The back four won most and behind them Kasper had a superb first half. James and Drinkwater linked up very well in the centre whilst Dyer always ran with the ball but end product let him down.

Nugent and Vardy didn't have a huge amount to work with but they combined for the goal and that was encouraging. The fans were in great voice, especially on the left side and it's three massive points, along with a welcome clean sheet.

This was coming Leicester City turned up at the races finally, very good team performance the front two worked exceptionally hard and Knockaert well he was my man of the match.

I thought we were excellent and dont agree with the 'they pinned us back' and similar comments. It looked to me that after the first 20 minutes, we sat deep to deny Kranjcar the chance to play a killer ball in.

We parked up, let them knock it around and more often than not, we forced them to go long. Yes we hit our front men early but that was to utilise the pace. There were occassions in the game where we played some nice stuff.

All in all, it looked like we knew exactly what was required, went out and got the job done.

Very encouraging.

Thought NP's Sky interview post-match was absolutely spot on re fine margins in this game / league. Today's game could almost have been any score to either side.

The centre back pairing were absolutely immense today. They gave their top scorer the arse end of nothing.

Forget Miquel for the moment id have no qualms with sticking with Moore.

A big call this but I can see shades of Walsh in Moore. The lad literally gives everything for the cause, getting in late headers and blocks. Certainly one to keep is Liam.

Finally, today shows how important it is to play Vardy correctly. If hes slipped in behind a slowish defence his pace can be so dangerous. Today it was from a flick header. At other times a slide rule final ball will do it.

If utilised right, he could score many goals for the club.

Fvcking excellent. Not the prettiest display but extremely effective - and a game that has restored some of my dwindling faith in this squad. Very happy with how we've took 3 points from a ground no-one else had done of yet.

The fans - much better. Far more like it.

A great win and it sounded like the right formation and tactics were deployed today to cut out any obvious threat from Messrs Austin and co.! Nice to see Vardy weighing in with vital goals too now!

Reading at home on Boxing Day now has huge anti climax potential (!) but let's hope we can win buck the dustcart after the Lord Mayer's show at home for what would be our first Boxing Day win since 2009!

In one simple sentence, a terrific performance! Maybe a defending at times was a little sloppy but apart from a few minor errors they put in a good shift, Danny pat yourself on the back what a performance from him today so for me he's player of the season at the moment, Vardy another great performance, superb goal! Couldn't understand why Pearson took him off?

Today's result was like a little christmas present, it's great getting one over old horrible Arry!

Atmosphere from our fans today was amazing, really felt like a party atmosphere today.

QPR looked really poor and boring to me, they certainly lacked excitement, yeah they had a couple decent chances, but some how they fuc*ked them up!. They remind me of us back in the 2010-11 season, alot of underachieving big name players.

One negative today was, got all the way to London to find that the ticket office at Nunny had given me a ticket dated for yesterday, yet they've given me a seat reservation for today! Can you work that out, and that's not the first time!

Just looked at our next few games and this looks like an even better three points. Of the current top six we are playing all five other teams in the space of seven games over the new year.

Bloody tough run.

Evening all, practically a home game for me but I got roped into seasonal duties after.

First half we were on the back foot, QPR hardly dominated but they were in the ascendency and a goal for them would not have been amiss, but we scored, not them, perfect!

If the second half had continued in the same manner, QPR could well have got back into it, but we sharpened up and more than matched them for the rest of the game and came out with a win that we, as the away team just, about deserved.

A few random points, De Laet did remarkably well considering the support he got from Knockaert first half, Moore and Morgan were back close to their best and Vardy's work and effort inspirational. As a pair Drinkwater and James were by turn excellent and a liability, but today it did not cost us.

I think QPR could do better but how much of that was down to us is difficult to say, they are quite physical too, and I don't just mean Barton!

I agree it was either make or break today, we lose to QPR and a little gap between 3rd and the top two would have to start emerge and we certainly don't want that even this early on in the season, today even raised the question who is currently the best team in the championship? we've faced both Burnley and QPR and to be honest neither of them look like runaway leaders, so who is? is it us?

Gave em far too much room in our defence for my liking. Got away with it though. Officials were awful. We need the confidence to shoot especially with green in nets. Schlupp although hassled the defence well looked ****ed after 5 mins

omotion hopefuls Leicester managed what no other away team has this season against QPR, and returned home from Loftus Road with three points.

A first-half strike from Jamie Vardy was enough to seal the result for Leicester, and QPR’s fate was essentially sealed in the second half with the dismissal of Joey Barton.

From the first whistle, the match looked certain to live up to its billing. Anthony Knockaert’s free-kick and a long-range strike from Tom Carroll were both off target, but set an early precedent for an end-to-end encounter.

QPR fashioned the game’s first real opportunity when Matt Phillips burst into the box from the right and pulled back to find Gary O’Neil lurking on the edge of the area. O’Neil’s effort was tame though, and Kasper Schmeichel was able to gather at the second attempt.

Early excitement gave way to farce as a squirrel found its way onto the pitch, delaying a QPR corner. After five minutes or so, the players took matters into their own hands and chased it off the pitch.

The home side finally took their corner after a brief return from the squirrel, and a resulting loose ball was cleared off the line by Danny Drinkwater, but the following 20 minutes couldn’t match the rodent-based comedy of the previous few.

There appeared to be more going on in the stands than on the pitch, with Leicester fans belting out such classics as ‘We’ll sing on our own’ and ‘You’ve only got one fan’. The home fans responded with some noise of their own after a number of refereeing decisions went against them, and their mood wasn’t lifted when Phillips dinked a close range effort over Schmeichel’s crossbar.

It was around this time when Wham’s Last Christmas started to ring out from the away section, and the traveling fans were feeling even more festive a few minutes later when Jamie Vardy put them in front. David Nugent looped a header into the box and some sloppy QPR defending allowed Vardy to latch onto the ball and smash past Rob Green from a tight angle.

The league leaders looked for an instant response when Benoit Assou-Ekotto swung a cross in from the left side. The left-back’s delivery was too low for Charlie Austin though, much to the striker’s frustration, and the pair were separated by Niko Kranjcar as they exchanged verbals.

Leicester came close to doubling their lead at the start of the second half when Nugent swiveled on the ball and excellently picked out Lloyd Dyer’s run into the box, though the winger dragged his shot wide of the far post.

Aside from sloppy passing and disgruntled fans, penalty shouts were very much the theme of the second period, the loudest of which came after centre-half Liam Moore brought down Phillips in the 62nd minute. Though referee Paul Tierney was not convinced.

Tierney, however, did get involved towards the end of the match when he dismissed Joey Barton with two yellow cards in quick succession; the initial booking awarded for an elbow on Paul Konchesky, and the second for taking issue with the referee’s decision.

A standing ovation was given to Barton by the home fans as he trudged off the pitch, but the midfielder’s eighth career red card had put the writing on the wall for QPR.

Assistant manager Kevin Bond felt that Barton’s reputation didn’t help his case and claimed that opposition players look to provoke him.

‘It looked pretty innocuous from where I was, but the referee’s given it,’ Bond said.

‘He [barton] seems to be the focal point, and in his position he can’t afford to put himself up for anything, really.

‘It [his reputation] doesn’t do him any favours, for sure. Everybody’s aware of Joey, the crowd tries to wind Joey up. He’s very passionate and has to be very careful.

A delighted Nigel Pearson praised his Leicester players’ efforts and highlighted the importance of a solid defensive performance.

‘We did well today, It was needed,’ Pearson admitted.

‘I felt we created good opportunities, but I think they will probably feel they should have got something out of the game.

‘We only scored one goal again, but they key is that we’ve kept a clean sheet, and we’ve not kept enough of those this season.’

Off you go, Joe: Joey Barton is sent off following two bookings in the space of 30 seconds

When did we sing about them having one fan? When did we sing 'merry Xmas' during the game?

Though singing it at the FT whistle was great. Sent shivers down my spine lol

I sat with an ex player yesterday so found his views very interesting.

When I was getting worked up and worried in the first half, he was saying how good we were.

"Pearson will be over the moon with this, the whole team are working very hard. Positioning is excellent and the work rate off the ball is superb"

I was saying that QPR were breaking through but he was countering with

"Yes, but you are handling them, look how every player is working, your manager will be so pleased and so will each player"

"They are working so hard as a group"

I pointed out that Knockaert and Dyer were not having much success getting past the players, but he countered

"Yes, but look at the work they do in defending and helping the others, this really is a good performance "

This was before we had even scored.

Vardy came in for a lot of praise, particularly at one point where he rode a few tackles, had four players round him, went on a run and got a free kick.

Interesting to see what a non player like me misses. He said towards the end that a 1-0 away win is the best ever result for a defender and so they will be over the moon.

Clearly obvious from his point of view that Pearson had a very well organised group and every player did everything that was asked of him in a very disciplined manner.

I'm sure there's a separate thread on this but, having watched the highlights, I appreciate Nugent's contribution yesterday a lot more.

From the upper tier of the school end he looked off the pace and dare I say it, somewhat uncommitted.

However, great flick on for the goal and some impressive composure and vision at points demonstrated his value. His through ball for one of dyer's opportunities was superb.

Drinkwater and James were superb yesterday. Got overrun quute a bit first half but in the second half they controlled things. As much as I like King, those two are my preferred pairing in the middle.

It was nice to have a performance where the goalkeeper, defence, midfield and strikers all turned up. Usually get let down by one of them

The diagonal pass to Dyer was class.Pity Lloyd didn't score.
