If Pearson were to get sacked/leave...

I don't get how people will be that gutted if he left, and give up, Pearson is ok and has steady the ship, but I follow leicester city not the manager, and I know there is better than Pearson out there, and if they did let him go, I would hope they employed somebody better and not worse.

That is no insult to the manager, but he has to earn a new contract the same as the players.

Fair enough, I agree with that statement, but you talk as if he hasn't earnt a new contract when, quite clearly, he has.

Not that I want Pearson to go or endless speculation about it, but, to play devil's advocate...

how many people would've answered differently if this was posted on Friday night?

Maybe because we've had a lot of other managers since MON, many have been exciting names, looked like a better idea, started ok and then turned out to be crap. It's not that him going means we'd stop supporting the team, but the decision making process that would let NP leave/sack him would be so flawed you'd kinda know our club was broken from the top down...

I'm not saying Pearson will go at all, but if he were to leave, who would you want as his replacement? Personally wouldn't mind Eddie Howe

Bye!!!!

he said himself if he doesn't get promotion he's failed, if he fails how has he earned a new contract?

Perhaps he's got a bankers/business leader/government type contract - win or lose you still get the bonus and a renewal. :xmastongue:

Think we have spoke about this before, for me he has had a 3 year contract by the summer, and his main objective by the owners I believe was promotion, if promotion isn't achieved I don't think the owners would think he deserves a new one, and for me if he fails after a strong start again, I wouldn't renew it and look for fresh ideas, but as I said earlier if he was to be replaced it has to be by somebody better.

All that said I am not his biggest fan, but I hope the bloke succeeds this season, and he would deserve a new contract, but in my opinion if he doesn't then no I don't think he deserves a new one.

All my opinions and I know a lot will disagree, but for me is not wether or not I like the manager, it's wether we will progress under him, and to be fair the only progression he has left is to finally gain a promotion to the premier league.

Again replaced by somebody better, if he fails that would be best part of 4 seasons trying to get us promotion, including his first stint here, how long do you give him, 5,6,7 years.

The owners this week have removed around 100 mill, clearing our debt, and will want success soon, and if Nigel keeps failing at the final hurdle, they I should imagine lose faith, but as I state must replace him with better.

This thread is at the wrong time, as this season is still a work in progress, and with the right additions in January, we are very well placed, but we have been inconsistent over the season since his return, and if he can keep us consistent, he might just earn that new contract.

Fairly narrow minded to say the only way of progression is promotion. Surely looking at the situation as a whole is a better way.

Are we a better side than last year? YES

Are we better both on and off the pitch? YES

Are the players he has brought in his period progressing and improving YES

Therefore even if we finished third and didn't go up surely we are still progressing. This fascination with instant promotion our fans have acquired since the Thai's came in is part of the problem. Surely if we are getting better and better then this is progress. It's not as if we don't go up this year we never will, with the way in which Pearson has acquired players of a young age they are only getting better and better meaning every year we will be competitive in this league and be amongst the top sides.

I don't get how people can not rate Pearson. Its more than just steadying the ship; he's cleared out the deadwood, cut costs and given us a much better team. We actually look like going places and the players we may lose in the future will bring in some money.

From your name I'm guessing, you've been following Leicester for a while so how can you not understand the importance of stability to our club? Pearson is probably the second best manager we've had in the past 20 years and we've put up with a lifetime of dross in between. There probably is better out there but are they better for us? I doubt it.

For me, its all about supporting the club and the club is better off with Pearson so of course I'll support him massively.

To be fair I can understand why people like him, and I have never said he hasn't done a good job steadying the ship, and getting shot of the deadwood, but I'm sure he would have help with that, but he would have identified the ones he didn't need, and has recruited some decent players.

Yes the Thais money has changed the expectations of fans, and why not, yes I have followed leicester for years and have seen some shit managers, but to say Pearson is the second best manager is your opinion, I like Brian littles sides, so I would probably say Brian little, my opinion.

Going back to the steady ship, it's steady now, so for me it's time to move forward, and the biggest thing for me is I get frustrated with Pearson and his side since his return, they have been consistently inconsistent, and the Thais will soon get fed up writing off huge amounts of debt, as we cannot generate enough income outside the premiership not to gain debt year in year out.

My opinions on the manager aside, I hope we are going places, and he gets the consistent performance and results we have had since his return, and finally he will get the rewards for club, after we have had stability recently.

Are we better than last season, we will know come the end of the season, are we better on and off the pitch, off yes, in the jury is out again we will see come the end of the season.

Have the players progressed that he brought in progressed, I would say slightly but the season will show, they were great in stages last season but couldn't be consistent all season, as we know.

But you have your opinions and I have mine.

The reason I have said that the progression is promotion is that under Pearson we have finished around the playoffs, barring the season he returned, so progression would be promotion, if we made the playoffs and failed again, is that progression or playoff without promotion wouldn't be a better than the year before.

Just because I don't share your opinion doesn't make me narrow minded, I just have a different view and opinion.
