Half-Season Survey

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi everyone, it’s daib0 here again!!

I'm wondering if you are able to answer  a few questions about your season so far, we are doing a similar thing on many championship forums to get a general inter-forum idea of the nearly half-way mark:

*What was your best game of the season so far?
*Who has been your best player?
*Who has been your underperformer?
*Who has been your best signing?
*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

The questions are always the same for each club so it’s never personal! I'll get a general vibe from the members or I'll do an average.

It'll just help with a write up we’re doing for the Tilehurst End site and the Royals Rendezvous forum - where we’ll  mention of course which forums were asked for the various categories.

Cheers guys,

daib0

What was your best game of the season so far? QPR 0 - 1 Leicester
*Who has been your best player? Danny Drinkwater
*Who has been your underperformer? Very tough question, as the whole team is playing well. But I will have to go for Nugent despite him scoring all of those penalties.
*Who has been your best signing? Wasilewski
*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?  How I expected, considering we were top of the league around this time last season.

What was your best game of the season so far? Watford 0-3 Leicester.
Who has been your best player? Lloyd Dyer.
Who has been your underperformer? Really, really difficult question. It sounds a bit stupid as I type it, but our top scorer David Nugent probably. That's pretty harsh though.
Who has been your best signing? I have no idea yet, don't think any of them have played enough games to really make a proper fair judgement.
Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season? Overachieving.

QPR away

Vardy

Kind of expected Wasilewski to be a bit of a superstar, still time mind

This season? Wasilewski I suppose*

Doing a tad better than I thought we would. Very much expected us to do better than 6th place at the start of the season. Stronger squad and all that.

*Funny how the team that plays today will likely have no new signings in it. All of them were here for the whole of last season and more in several cases.

Stability (in terms of the squad, not the manager) is working then

*What was your best game of the season so far? Got to be watford. Not only cause we trounced them but also the scenes when knocky scored

*Who has been your best player? Tough to choose, so many have done well especially vardy and drinks. But got to be drinkwater for me

*Who has been your underperformer? No one really. If i had to choose it would be Wood which of course is very harsh considering hes hardly played.

*Who has been your best signing? So many to choose from lol. Probably say Hammond

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

Well and truly overachieving to what I thought we'd be at the start of the season

Danny Drinkwater

Nugent

Wasilewski

I did expect fighting for Automatic but we are top so maybe slightly performing above expectation. I wouldn't say overachieving so put expected.

Best game:

For the result, 1-0 away vs QPR, nobody expected us to win and it was a great three points at our biggest promotion rival. However, for how much I enjoyed the game I'd go 3-0 at home vs Milwall, thought the atmosphere second half was class and it was a nice comfortable win. Honourable mention to home vs Reading for the 'lights out' incident and all that came from it.

Best player:

Drinkwater for me by a mile. While Lloyd has been very good, Drinkwater has bossed every single game from midfield, making good clean passes and winning possession back when he needs to. Rarely gifts the opposition possession and will win it back when he does.

Underperformer:

Hate to say it 'cause I like the lad but has to be Nugent, not scoring enough from open play. Consistent with his penalties though which is keeping him in good favour at the moment. Would like to see Wood come back from injury soon to give him real competition for the second striker slot alongside Vardy.

Best signing:

We haven't made a load and they're not generally starting so it's a tough one. I've rated Hammond at breaking up play when he comes on and I've seen most of him so that's who I'll go with.

Under/overachieving:

I'll go with doing as well as expected. A lot of fans will say that we are doing better than they thought but I think at the start of the season we were all quietly thinking we had to do it this year and it was a possibility. Had faith in the squad without many additions and think Nige has done well, as I expected we would.

*What was your best game of the season so far? -Can I say a cup game?

4-3 against Fulham if not 0-1 away at QPR.

*Who has been your best player?

-Danny Drinkwater

*Who has been your underperformer?

-Nugent.

*Who has been your best signing?

-Marcin Wasilewski

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

-Maybe slightly overachieving, most of us thought we'd be in the play-offs.

QPR away

Danny Drinkwater

Jeffrey Schlupp - seems to have gone backwards in his development.

Waselewsli, although our small number of signings haven't really effected much

Exceeding expectations.

*both 0-1 QPR and 0-3 Watford were very good in terms of an away performance.

*Danny Drinkwater has been very good this year, running the midfield, but both Jamie Vardy and Lloyd Dyer have also been very good offensively and are very dangerous due to their pace and work rate.

*No-one has under-performed as such but a lot of people believe that Nugent hasn't contributed enough.

*again a hard one. Not many signing in the last window but Gary Taylor-Fletcher has been the most decent. Almost forgot about Wasilewski. Definitely Wasilewski!

*definitely over-achieving. Expected a season of switching between mid-table/play-offs. Very good season so far.

What was your best game of the season so far? Got to be beating watford away 3-0 particularly after the playoffs last season

Who has been your best player? Has to be drinkwater although vardy close second

Who has been your underperformer? Tough one but schlupp decent shout although he hasn't played that much

Who has been your best signing? Again difficult as we haven't made many so have to say wasilewski

Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season? Overachieving for me

*What was your best game of the season so far? - In terms of sheer enjoyment, the Watford game was great. Superb performance and fantastic to see Knockaert bury some demons. In terms of what I think will be a massive result come May, QPR. Whether it's winning a six pointer or causing self-doubt among the QPR players, it will be vital in the promotion race.

*Who has been your best player? Vardy has been like a new signing this season. Work rate, pace that terrifies defenders and clinical finishing at times. Moore has massively impressed too. Drinkwater is a solid contender too, at the heart of so much in midfield.

*Who has been your underperformer? By the high standards he has set for himself, Schmeichel has made a few errors this season. He'll still save more points than he costs us though.

*Who has been your best signing? What's helped us this year is stability and the distinct lack of signings, the instability and mass influxes era is well and truly gone.

That being said, Ignasi Miquel looks as though he will have a solid future and Wasilewski provides more than adequate cover at centre-back.

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season? I think we're overachieving, as expectations pre-season were for play-offs rather than automatic. It's great to see the manager show faith in his young side, and they've rewarded him by growing together. A wobble is likely, but we better equipped to recover from it than we did last season.

*What was your best game of the season so far?

Watford (a) 3-0

*Who has been your best player? Drinkwater

*Who has been your underperformer? Hmmm. Probably nugent but I don't think he's been anything less than average.

*Who has been your best signing? Hard to tell yet.

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season? Performing how I expected.

great replies guys, these are exactly the kind that will be really useful ... so keep 'em coming!  :)

*What was your best game of the season so far?

Away at Watford. 3-0 win.

*Who has been your best player?

Danny Drinkwater

*Who has been your underperformer?

Hard between Nugent and Morgan. Neither have hit the heights we know they can.

*Who has been your best signing?

Difficult, we've not really signed anyone that's made a telling addition to the squad, but if anyone Wasilewski.

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

I thought we'd be in and around the playoffs so I'd say we're overachieving. The playing staff and management will beg to differ.

*What was your best game of the season so far?

3-0 at Watford was a very satisfying result, but I'm more proud of the team taking 3 points from QPR's fortress.

*Who has been your best player?

Lloyd Dyer. Easily his best season in a City shirt so far.  Drinkwater 2nd place.

*Who has been your underperformer?
Got to say Schlupp.  Unlike Liam Moore he's not really stamped his mark on our team yet despite(or maybe because of) getting numerous chances in different positions.

*Who has been your best signing?
Wasilewski.  A good, solid, experienced player when covering at CB.  And all without a prima donna attitude, ironically despite having the most reason to be so with the way Anderlecht fans adore him.

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

After last year's heart-ache I think it's fair to say most of us expected to see our players fall back inside of themselves and struggle to get back to high levels of performance, certainly at the start of the season in any case.  They haven't done so and we've in fact looked more of a contender than we did last year.  So I'd say we're exceeding expectations, but after last season we all know how quickly and unpredictably that can change...

*What was your best game of the season so far?

Watford away, 3-0

*Who has been your best player?

Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater or Liam Moore. All 3 have really improved since last season and have been the best players in their respective positions.

*Who has been your underperformer?

Nugent

*Who has been your best signing?

The signings haven't really made a massive impact. Miquel from Arsenal has looked decent.

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

Considering how we ended last season (both with the heartbreak of the play-offs and the poor form in the last 3 months) we are doing better than I expected. Certain players have really stepped up their game, and I think the fact we are above QPR, who have the best squad in the division, says it all.

*What was your best game of the season so far?

0-3 at Watford. Taking into consideration of the last time we played there but we also played with real geil and dominated the opposition for the majority of the game instead of just one half.

*Who has been your best player? Jamie Vardy and Lloyd Dyer for me. They've performed well throughout the season do dar whereas Drinky has only got going from October onwards.

*Who has been your underperformer? King. I understand where people saying Nugent is coming from but he's been doing the other gritty bits that others don't notice in a striker and dips behind and links up well with the midfielders to set up Vardy and the likes so I wouldn't say him. He's done what he had to do with penalties as well seeing as he's only took one ever prior to this season so fair play to him.

*Who has been your best signing? they're all subs so it's hard to say. I'd say GTF or Miquel as they've been the most effective when they've played.

*Do you believe you are underperforming, overachieving or are performing how you expected at the start of the season?

Neither. Taking the circumstances into consideration we should be up there but I predicted outside the playoffs die to our lack of transfer market involvement. But looking at how we've played I wouldn't say we've overachieved either.
