What an opportunity we have in that game, a win would take us 10 points clear of Derby in fourth (nobody can overtake them). And QPR have a very difficult away trip to Ipswich, with plenty of potential to drop points there. With it being on Friday, a win could see us 7 clear of second, 8 clear of third and 10 clear of fourth come Saturday.

Plenty of hard work to do in that game for that to happen. But it would well and truly round off what could be a potentially defining festive period.

At risk of you 'keeping me on my toes'?... we could well be in a position after the Derby game where we can only throw it away ourselves. To get to this time of the season, potentially so far in front of the team in 7th is such a good chance. The best we would have had in many years.

Technically we are in that position now, but it's an incredible position to be in. Especially when you think about the run of games we've had over this period as well.

13 points ahead of where we were at this stage last year is brilliant.

It just shows how it can all change so quickly. Before Christmas we had that blip, now we're looking so strong. Tis a funny old game.

Its gonna be fascinating to see if the Thais spend any money this month.

Interview with Pearson suggests a weakened team against Stoke in anticipation of the game against Derby, which I think is the correct decision. I think Vardy will get the nod though.

Scrappy game, which it was always going to be given the weather. When I saw the 5 changes I didn't fancy our chances, but we got our early goal and did a good job. Not exhibition football, but we were very effective today. The chants were good fun, especially about Billy-No-Mates  :xmaslaugh:  :xmaslaugh:  :xmaslaugh:

Great three points from a game that was ruined by the conditions.

We started very brightly and after 10 minutes or so it looked like a case of "how many?". But to their credit Millwall dug in and have us a good game, particularly after we went 2-0 up. Second half wasn't great from us - the use of the ball in midfield was atrocious apart from by Knockaert, who seemed the only player in the pitch not content to hump it forward at every opportunity.

GTF was excellent and this was shown up again by having Schlupp come on. The lad was almost always in an offside position, making it incredibly difficult for him to receive and hold up the ball. I appreciate that coming on in those conditions to harry centre backs is a thankless task but he didn't even look to be trying at times. Even the finish for his goal was a bit sketchy. I still think Schlupp can be a good player for us but clearly he has a lot to learn and today's goal doesn't mask another mediocre showing.

To be honest I thought Millwall were worth a point on the balance of play but perhaps it was to be expected that they'd have more of the ball as we looked to play on the break after going 2 up. Certainly both sides struggled to create clear-cut openings and we rarely (if ever) troubled Forde apart from the three goals (as ridiculous as that sounds). We were just more clinical and in GTF and Knockaert had the game's 2 outstanding players.

Every time I go to Millwall I am reminded of what an awful bunch of supporters they have. They didn't get behind their team at all apart from straight after scoring. They moan about literally everything. Even mundane things like clear throw-ins to us were met with a chorus of abuse for the officials. Christ knows what was going on in the incident in the far corner at the start of the second half but it didn't look pretty. People say "it's just a minority" but there is a clear culture of hate in that ground every time I go there. The thugs are clearly a minority but the vitriol directed at officials and opposing players is like nowhere else in the country.

Anyway, a pleasing win. It's gritty wins like this that promotion campaigns are founded on and there will be times this season when we play a lot better and don't win.

So true. Our 'have a moan' chant summed it up perfectly, they were ridiculous.

I'd be happy with this. Todays side would compete with Stoke

Don't you think we'd have a chance? Don't rate Stoke too highly at all and I assume they'll be resting some players. Hope im right........AGAIN! :Plol

Still can't believe the ball boy knicked the lino's flag.

What's it worth on the black market? lol

EDIT: This is what they say on the BBC website:

  • A fan, dressed in what appeared to be the same style tracksuit as the Millwall coaching staff, grabbed the flag off the assistant referee and left it looking like "a broken umbrella".

Must be in the water.
