Foxy harry Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 fullham and man city used them when they came here
Weller in Tights Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 My brother and I took a massive inflatable Dolphin to Tranmere away many years ago. It ended up having a fight with a killer whale at half time. Those were the days, a bunch of grown up blokes with a few beers inside them having a laugh at the football. Sorry, me being nostalgic for times past.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 I always wanted an inflatable banana as a kid too!
shade Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 it's 2014, not 1995. if you're going to be funny and make glib comments like that, lesson 1 is don't make yourself look like a massive tool!
Weller in Tights Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Inflatable egos anyone? Why, have you more than enough to share with everyone?
Leicester_Numan Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Was 1989, remember seeing the double decker and pen 1 full of em when man city came down, groundbreaking stuff at the time, just when the roses and the Mondays were about to become huge as well, them were the days.I had an inflatable skeleton back then nicknamed Mike Newell
Alexikokopops Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 In the 1987-88 season Maine Road became populated with a bumper crop of blow-up bananas, named, in honour of striker Imre Varadi, "Imre Banana". Arguably, the finest hour of the City inflatable craze came in September 1988 when the team visited Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Away supporters were banned due to trouble in a previous play-off fixture, but some City fans made their way into the ground regardless. "As City scarves and banners would have been a bit of a giveaway," wrote Mike Rowbottom in the Guardian, "a less obvious rallying device was devised. A 7ft inflatable Frankenstein. So simple." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/jul/21/odd-items-banned-football-grounds
Bayfox Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 We got loads of inflatable m&m men in magaluf 2002 and took those down the walkers at the start of the 03 season. along with an inflatable whale. Which we dressed in muzzys shirt. Started at the back of sk1 and ended up at the edge of the pitch after clouting a few heads on the way down. after the game we seen it being carried down Filbert way, so my mate went and nicked it back. It never returned after its 1st away trip mind. I vote for filbo sprit to bring back inflatables.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Typical Foxes Talk a lot of hot air from "plastic fans"
Hollism Posted 7 January 2014 Posted 7 January 2014 Whoever it was who took the blow up doll to Chelsea away 2 years ago, I raise my glass to you
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 It never normally bothers me but the apostrophe in the thread title made me be sick in my mouth.
Guest Gist Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Anyone see the paddling pool QPR fans took Cardiff a few years ago?
Fox92 Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Thought Manchester City still use them. In fact, last time I went in their club shop in the City Centre (about a year ago now) I think they were selling them.
MC Prussian Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 Most fans have realized they taste a bit rubbery.
hairy Posted 8 January 2014 Posted 8 January 2014 From Wiki; "Manchester City supporters are distinguishable by their..... and are famous for their inflatables, normally yellow bananas which are still occasionally seen today at various games, often when City are on a cup run. The inflatables were initially started as a humorous laugh by numerous City fans after a City player Imre Varadi was nicknamed banana hence the inflatable bananas. Other inflatables soon followed aimed at putting goodwill back into football during the dark days of English football hooliganism and stadium riots and the craze soon caught on with other clubs following suit and even dressing up the inflatable bananas." For years I though it was Liverpool supports that started it after Lou Reed said he followed them. Today I have learnt something new.
